Topic: Astrid and Raphaëlle

I just felt the need to bring this show up. I just binged the first season's 8 episodes, and I'm so hooked it's ridiculous.

If someone told me yesterday that I'd be this invested in a French procedural police drama centered on a female detective with her autistic helper, I certainly would not have believed them.

I can't even put my finger on exactly why it's so good, it has good stories (both the current ones as well as the backstories), superb actors (especially the one portraying the autistic character) and stellar English subtitles.

I guess it's just a good mix of everything, I heartily recommend giving the first two episodes, i.e. the pilot, a watch and see if it grabs your attention.

When Major Raphaëlle Coste turns to the police criminal records department for one of her investigations, she has no idea that she is going to meet a young woman as brilliant as she is confusing, a living memory of criminal investigations. Astrid, 30 years old, particularity: autistic.

Although not as good as the original, there’s a U.K. version (first 2 episodes are even the same story) called “Patience”.

Yeah, I watched the first episode of that show. I'll give it another chance, but it felt so dumbed down, everything was spelled out in excruciating detail and the Patience character felt plain unlikable.
