Topic: Great TV Shows you cannot watch again

There are great tv shows out there, some of them you can watch probably a half dozen times and won't get tired of doing it again at some point in the future.

Then there are the TV series that I absolutely loved, but can never imagine watching them again from start to finish*.

Here are some examples I think fall into that category:
Banshee
Black Sails
Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
House
Legion
Sons of Anarchy
Vikings

Do you also have shows like that?

* and I really mean from start to finish. Watching half a season or specific Episodes with epic moments doesn't count.

Deserved more runtime:
Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier

Not even one Season shows?, or comedies? yikes

If currently no good (pure) comedy is running, I always go back to rewatch one of my favorite comedies. I need to watch at least one show that's sole purpose is to make me laugh.

PS: First time using the ":" + "O" smiley and it looks very weird here smile

Nope! smile If time allows, I plan to - fully - watch https://next-episode.net/messiah again some day, but other than that... Too many shows still unwatched! cool

This is crazy to me, there's no way I can watch my favourites only once.
Especially comedies as Will mentioned.

Outside of comedies, shows like Firefly, would never have the effect on me that they do, if I only watched them once.
I can only take so much in, there's always something I missed or didn't appreciate on the first viewing, plus you get to know the characters more.
In fact I'd say my 3rd full re-watch of Firefly was my most enjoyed. I watched it a 4th time with my ex, and a 5th with my friend (last year)
Currently re-watching Silicon Valley (3rd time) it's just so good, especially in the current climate.
It's almost like Elmo Musk designed his persona after Gavin Belson.

As far as the topic, no I can't really think of any I really enjoyed that I wouldn't watch again, I'd love to go through GOT again some day.

Over and over? The original Looney Tunes cartoons. Maybe. I used to watch my box set of Scrubs. Seriously, ever since ebooks and the availability of TV and movies on demand (in whatever way), I don't think I'll ever re-read or re-watch anything ever again. A point of contention in a household where one of us watches the same shi...er, stuff over and over and over and...

I completely agree that there are shows like that, and I also agree that it goes for the ones you mention - except House! House is re-watchable, I've seen it 3 times I think, with years in between though smile
It's going to be mostly dramas, mysteries with "big reveals", long story archs, that fall into this category, for me. Hardly ever comedies.

12 Monkeys (The show and finale were perfect, rewatching them would dilute them for me)
Battlestar Galactica (Loved the show, but the political drama could get much at times)
Fringe

Re: Great TV Shows you cannot watch again

Totally agree, some shows are incredible but just too intense or emotionally heavy to watch again from start to finish. For me, Breaking Bad, The Leftovers, Chernobyl, and Mr. Robot fall into that category. Loved them, but once was enough.

Can I say Stranger Things? I know it technically hasn’t ended yet. I loved the earlier seasons when they first came out, but for some reason, now I honestly just want to see how it all wraps up. I don’t really feel like rewatching the whole series from start to finish. It’s just one of those shows for me, I guess.

Re: Great TV Shows you cannot watch again

Rewatch more frequently:

  • Star trek

  • Babylon 5

  • The Expanse

  • Star Trek (the good stuff pre JarJar Abrams, not the modern Trek)

  • Battlestar Galactica (both)

  • Dave Allen at Large

  • Firefly

Rewatch once in a longer while:

  • Farscape

  • Eureka

  • Halo (when I'm needing motivation to make upgrades to my cosplay armor)

  • Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda

  • Give me 6 months and might do Blue Bloods from the start

  • Defiance

  • Dexter again now that they're bringing in the spin-offs

Good but once was enough (IE: Could not slog through a second time):

  • How I met your mother

There's plenty of other "Oh yeah, hey - I haven't watched that in a couple/few years" like The Unit or Nikita, that are fun to get into for nostalia when its been so long that its practically new again.

Re: Great TV Shows you cannot watch again

I just rewatched Star Trek Strange New Worlds. Better than the first time I watched it. I had completely forgotten most of the storys could just remember a few of the visuals
