Topic: Duster

Duster is set in the 1970's Southwest. It revolves around the life of a gutsy getaway driver for a growing crime syndicate that goes from awful to wildly, stupidly, dangerously awful.

Just noticed this on the home page so thought I'd check it out. It's already on 621 Watchlists, crazy (especially since I'm just now hearing of it).
It makes sense though, because that charming actor who played in Lost (Sawyer), and Colony (Will Bowman) is the ML (Jim).
Same charming smooth Southern drawl, makes it look interesting maybe even intriguing. We'll see.
When it premieres in a month and a half I'll watch the first episode and see where it goes from there.

Re: Duster

Thanks for the heads up, there are a few people in it that recognise too.

DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".

Re: Duster

First Episode was OK.

Could've done a little bit more background and refurbishment on the characters.
The story seems rather weak, hope that improves.

But the action and the fun keeps me interested for now.

Spoiler

For a character like him, driving should be his first love and that should be obvious from the start. Here it was like 75% at best. And the car needs to have a backstory as well - hope we get some.

She is way to smug in my opinion. They obviously want to show a black woman in the 1960s who can work through all the adversity - fine enough, but they could've achieved the same with her smartly circumventing rules, laws and supervisors instead of bulldozing through everything.

Shows that deserved more runtime:
Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Company You Keep | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier

Re: Duster

Well so far so good.  A little weak in character development, especially the female FBI rookie, but overall it was a big nostalgia bump.  My kid just happens to be restoring a classic yellow and black Duster currently and on a final note it is very odd seeing Keith David in a serious role after all the lunatic characters he's played lately, lol.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one.

Re: Duster

Didn't really improve with Episode 2, gonna give it one more EP.

This Episode also made the whole story so far pointless.

Spoiler

Him and his father clearly have no trouble killing people. He didn't seem unraveled at all at the end.
So if that's the kinda guy he is he could've just killed FBI lady and all his problems would've gone away...

Re: Duster

The only thing Episode 3 seems to have in common the with premise of the show is the word "stupidly"...

But, unfortunately, now there are some plotlines I need to know the follow-up to...so let's hope for a better EP04.

Spoiler

Three episodes and in every one she disobeys a direct order and get's away with it. Now we got the "this is your final chance" line...I can already guess what's going to happen in EP04...

Everything Ellis does is boring, nothing more to say about him.

What was even the point of going to that biker bar if not to agitate? I mean he is the boss of a crime syndicate...he should now which places are safe and which are not...just stupid.

Re: Duster

So far so good. I'm enjoying it and starting to root for some characters and hope they win.

It's like this...

Spoiler

The bad cop came across as malevolent (dangerous) and greedy, the father, I reckon, trusts his son's judgement. The FBI agent, however, has a certain amount of charm, doesn't come across at all like the dirty cop did. It's just different. No two things are just alike.

Re: Duster

I enjoy the time period. The cars, the clothes etc. Monkey handlebar bikes with banana seats.

And that Duster, nice car. The growl of the engine.
