Topic: Trump considering 100% tariffs on movies not made in the US
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cjr7e2z1rxyo This is not good. I've been on a steady diet of CDrama, and some of my top shows are British, like "Death in Paradise" even "Slow Horses". edit - Well, it says movies. It may not mean programs with episodes.

Isnt most US movies or tv-shows filmed outside of the US?

Not sure. I know The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has been filmed in France.

Re: Trump considering 100% tariffs on movies not made in the US
If you want to film on location, it is very likely that some pieces of movies or tv shows are shot outside of the U.S. This here is a german homepage that lists where movies and tv shows were shot either by film / show name or country (link is to countries) https://www.filmtourismus.de/drehorte/ Here some examples: The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Rings of Power - New Zealand Game of Thrones - Malta, Gozo, Ireland, etc. House of the Dragon - Britain, Spain Star Wars - Italy, Spain, Norway, etc. Just imagine all those movies and shows were only filmed with American scenery...
Deserved more runtime: Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier https://next-episode.net/user/WilliamDrakeMcGregor/

I am not sure he knows either. He "announced" that he wanted to reopen the Alcatraz prison hours after watching the film "The Rock" on TV. He is his own kind of stupid.

At least he admits that Hollywood is propaganda.

IIRC, he wants to christianize Hollywood. I can't remember where I read this (pre-election, though), but this seems like a possible first step: find a way to shut them down without actually shutting them down.

Your comment reminded me of a YT video titled "Why sci-fi alien planets all look the same", by Tom Scott.

I read he thought the idea of sharks in the water was a good deterrent to escaping

It might've been Escape from Alcatraz - if we can believe a talk show hosts monologue. (Colbert maybe?)
...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?
Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

Re: Trump considering 100% tariffs on movies not made in the US
The question I have is "just what is he putting the tariff on?" Total budget, by the ticket, the cost of the film in the can, gross profit, net profit, digital streaming, amazon foreign movie purchases, what? I frankly don't see a real way for them to calculate it. Pipe dream.

He hasn't thought about it, at all. He doesn't know how or what to think. He is just spouting nonsense.

Re: Trump considering 100% tariffs on movies not made in the US
How exactly is forcing the studios to produce domestically in the US -- where production costs would be much higher and are the reason why they went outside the country to make movies in the first place -- "saving the ailing film industry" anyway? Especially if they had to recreate foreign locations that just don't exist in the USA (like medieval streets, houses, churches, for example)?

Well you 'think' wrong, besides a few middle aged white balding men that like to hang flags on lampposts, most people here hate the orange pussygrabbing prick. I can't speak for Australia, but the closest we have is Nigel 'Fukwit' Farage, and nobody with a logical working brain likes him.

ROFL!!!!!! That is so funny. Funny when you even try not to be. Quick story.......a very good, close friend of mine who is a Pom (born in London) went back to visit family a month or so ago and couldn't wait to get back to Aus. In his own words......"I couldn't believe the shithole that London has become and it greatly pains me to say that because it's my home town!!" Just saying.

Believing that what you prefer is what most people prefer is tempting, but often not the case. ChatGPT:
## Popularity of Donald Trump in the UK Donald Trump's popularity in the United Kingdom is considerably low, with recent polling indicating that **59% of Britons view him negatively**, compared to just **24% who hold a positive view**. This gives him a **net approval rating of -36**, which is lower than most British politicians, including Labour leader **Keir Starmer** and even controversial figures like **Tommy Robinson**. --- ## Key Polling Insights ### General Sentiment - **Negative Perception**: A majority of the British public has a negative view of Trump, often describing him with words like "idiot" and "dangerous." - **Younger Male Support**: Interestingly, Trump enjoys some support among younger British men, where **53%** say they would have voted for him, contrasting sharply with older demographics. ### Party Allegiance and Views - **Reform UK Voters**: Among the Reform UK party's supporters, **59% view Trump positively**, showcasing a significant partisan divide. - **Labour and Conservative Views**: About **68% of Labour voters** and **51% of Conservative voters** express unfavorable views toward Trump.
I don't believe a (different) Trump would fare much better than the Trump.

This! ^^^ This place appears rather unbalanced so it may be best to avoid politics eh? Now you made me sound Canadian.
Edit: Huh? Why does "color=green" come out as mauve/purple??? And this is "color=purple" which shows as a green!!! Is it "opposite day"?

You have that Farage fart for the exact same reasons USA has Donald, you yourself make him relevant The pendulum simply has a tendency to eventually swing hard to the other side of stupid UK won't be any exception, same as already half of Europe, you also will have your Donald in one shape or another. Keep wilding about balding white man and you will make it happen, haha.
