Re: The Power [Drama, Fantasy, Super Heroes]

1x4 was great! And the sound design was really, really good IMHO.

Spoiler

Just that Riyadh looked way too provincial at times distracted me a bit.

If I didn't know that filming for this season wrapped up only 2 weeks after the Mahsa Amini protests in Iran began, I would see 1x4 as a clear nod in that direction.

Yes, merc, true. smile

Re: The Power [Drama, Fantasy, Super Heroes]

ep 6 surprised how slowly this is unfolding, thought by now the entire male species would have been enslaved. The dickhead dude from The Good Wife should have been electrocuted in the face by now.

Yeah... That shows that Josh Charles is a good actor. smile He also was very convincing in https://next-episode.net/we-own-this-city.

Still enjoying this show!

when the males get their status back all the women will be plugged into the national grid and thereby get Green Power

Oh man that is a wild idea. Pods of them being harvested for their juice. Like Westworld meets the Matrix meets the Handmaids Tale. Or something

Or make them hostages on illicit lake fishing boats where they just zap the water and all the fishies float to the top...

Would be wild to see what someone like Charlie Broooker would do with this.

I would like the men to all be rounded up and given some sort of electrocution arsehole polygraph test (like the women were subjected to) "You're either with us or you're against us"

Re: The Power [Drama, Fantasy, Super Heroes]

eps 7 had some good moments.

Spoiler

eg the soiling of the  pool.

I think my faves are the British dad and daughter, a real spunky pair, the monkes.

Spoiler

I liked the scene when she was charging the kids a twenty to instruct the gilrsl how to do it

The least I like is Tunde Ojo the reporter who comes across as areal chancer, I want to see him doctored by the girls, to wipe that grin off his face,  and messiah-girl., I dont understand why they have this mystical element.  Only 2 eps left. too few to really develop this story with so many threads. Yet to see fatso-ugly-politician gets done

Hmm, with their horrendous accents.  Eddie Marsan comes from Stepney, he should know better.

Oh, I think you meant English not British. smile

2020.  Meh.

don't know what you are complaining about - poor London accents? I doubt yank audiences would appreciate  any thing more nuanced

I don't expect to be able to detect a subtly nuanced North or South of the river accent, or maybe East or West, I just expect it to sound like they're from London, or at least actually know what a London accent sounds like.  Her's is just over-the-top, like a characature of a London accent.

2020.  Meh.

He probably gave them what they asked for....A (Jewish) London gangster
By the way are you British to know the difference?

Yeah was thinking the same, not sure whether its just crappy acting or not but his grinning at odd junctures is daft. Maybe he's acting as a dick. Tempted to just fast-forward past his vignettes.

Re: The Power [Drama, Fantasy, Super Heroes]

well eps 9 the final for this season was pretty good as was eps 8

Spoiler

where we finally saw fatso dictator get his head caved in.

This is a show where it could have done with a few more eps.

Spoiler

But atleast we saw Tunde Ojo turned into a sniveling kid after all the cockiness. And seeing  Margot Cleary-Lopez the mayor zap the senator was expected but never the less great

Re: The Power [Drama, Fantasy, Super Heroes]

Season 1 has this set up to go in any number of directions, imho. For me, I'm definitely sticking with it and standing by for a Season 2.

Spoiler

Oh and they got me with the soldier "set up". I didn't even see that coming.

Re: The Power [Drama, Fantasy, Super Heroes]

Had a great time watching.  It's got a feel like how V was written, lots of of good subplots that should culminate.  Every underdog angle is employed with great casting.  I didn't care for one plot choice in the cliff hanger, but all were entertaining.
It's Rebel's with a Cause. smile

Me too, most of the time. The final ep could have been better IMHO.

Are you talking about https://next-episode.net/v? Didn't watch that one. smile
