Interesting interpretation... I just thought they were giving the female viewership some eye candy.

Re: Reacher [Drama, Action]
Very much liked season 1, but season 2? Just awful… I think it is just the band of, erm, trusty sidekicks which just doesn’t work for me. I liked the dynamic between Reacher and Roscoe. And I totally hate the team in season 2 with to many „on the nose“ jokes and boring stereotypes. Also it feels like for three episodes, the story is just not picking up.

I find myself wanting closer to Cruise, who was better if you hadn't read the books. Also, not a critique of Alan, but the show inclines to the homoerotic with his physique. Why not show more female skin? Not my cup of tea.
As a woman, it's nice to have a break from nearly naked women once in a while.

Re: Reacher [Drama, Action]
For me, Series 1 was pretty good (It had Kristin Kreuk!) But i'm afraid Series 2 is pretty dire. I regularly fall asleep during the show. I've got to be honest though, series 2 is much more representative of the books, which based upon the first (and only) books in the series I read, is just as awful. Based upon the material, Tom Cruise (and/or his team) is/are a genius(s) based upn the 2 films he(they) knocked out.

Yeah, in season 2 there's too much killing. It's like: when in doubt, kill. Preferred season 1.

Re: Reacher [Drama, Action]
The popular Amazon Prime Series has already been renewed for season 3, and production seems to be fully underway. Much like the shift between seasons 1 and 2, the future installment in the life of action hero Jack Reacher will likely send the former military operative on a completely new mission.

Re: Reacher [Drama, Action]
The "team" in S2 didnt work at all for me. Felt like Chat GPT dialogue. Hope they get back to basics. That being, brick shithouse Reacher saunters into a new town, unearths new and original ways to beat the shit out of baddies, solves the case, hits the road again. Rock and roll ain't no riddle man.

Neagley is getting her own spin-off! Maybe... One source seems definite, but... https://deadline.com/2024/09/reacher-sp … 236077200/

Re: Reacher [Drama, Action]
Wow. I just watched all 3 episodes of season 3. There are not many shows that have hooked me so well as this show. I started watching the first episode and before I knew it, I was done. Going WTF? That wasnt 54 minutes. Then Ep2 same thing. EP3 WTH. Before I knew it almost 3 hours had past. Never has time gone by so quickly. Only a few shows have done this for me. This show is so good, you don't even know you are watching it. I kid you not. Now the only problem is having to wait for the next episode. This show is so well paced and written that I am at the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Last thing to add. They guy who plays Reacher is perfect. Screw Tom Cruise, yes he did a good job, but he did not look the part. Looking forward to more. And the other shows that have done this for me are. The Wire Babylon 5 Hope you all enjoy the new season of Reacher as much as I do. I think I will watch those 3 episodes again just to make sure I watched em.

Re: Reacher [Drama, Action]
I've only watched 3x1 as of now, enjoyed it! ▼Spoiler Their genius move: set things up so that the action wouldn't really feel like "true Reacher"... and then revealing why that happened!

Yes! I love this show. Good to know S3 is going to be great, I wait to binge each season. I think this guy is a much better Reacher than Cruise, too.

Re: Reacher [Drama, Action]
I really enjoyed season 1, the flow was steady and drew you further in with each episode. Season 2 didn't flow as well because of the team and the effort spent on developing their characters but in the end it was worth the effort. Season 3 I have only watched the first episode but it seems to be a wonderful set up for what season 3 will offer. I plan on waiting until all the episodes are out so I can binge the rest of. season 3.

Re: Reacher [Drama, Action]
What annoyed me a bit was that in both 3x1 and 3x2, ▼Spoiler he talked loudly while using his secret phone. Sure, he checked his room for hidden microphones, but there's always the chance of somebody outside the door hearing him talking. I found this unrealistic.

Re: Reacher [Drama, Action]
thin on plot and complexity - weak writing and creativity - unless they pull a solid save in the plotline, it's not going to go to season 4

That is my thought as well. But I just like the simplistic action. And the actors appear to have chemistry. When I watch it, time flies. Its finished and rolling credits, and I am left hanging.

Re: Reacher [Drama, Action]
Doesn’t really pull me in. Season 1 was fun. Season 2 *meh* and for Season 3… somehow *mega-meh*. Ended up pausing ep3 mid episode and had no desire to finish it. Finally did and then in ep4 same… stuck somewhere mid episode without any motivation to finish it.

Re: Reacher [Drama, Action]
Watched Season 1 when it originally released. It was great until the end, something - don't remember what exactly - made me decide to drop it. Since Season 3 started I decided to pick it back up again. Season 2 was great. I liked the team dynamic and especially that they never questioned Reacher once. No hesitation, they did what in their mind was justice. You could really feel that they are all cut from the same cloth. The ending was of course a bit too convenient. Right now I am three episodes into Season 3. The story is weak but OK and I like the characters. The dialogue could use a lot of improvement. There are a lot of plot-holes which I can overlook, however...isn't there one gigantic plot hole that basically breaks the story. At least it didn't resolved in EP01-03 - or did I miss it? ▼Spoiler How are there no visible measures taken in town after a cop was killed? Just day to day business?? How did Dole with his hook-ups not find out that no cop was actually killed? Makes no sense. How is Reacher walking around carefree in the town? This is basically an insult to Season 1 where local law enforcement was an integral part of the story - in Season 3 it they get completely ignored...
Shows that deserved more runtime: Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Company You Keep | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier

For me, that wasn't a big hole because:
▼Spoiler - There are places without any local police. So after forensics did their job, yes, it would mostly be back to day to day business. - I didn't get that Dole had good connections to cops - but maybe I missed that. - Since they pulled off their stunt without any/ many witnesses (I don't recall), why wouldn't Reacher walk around carefree?
The amount of public and private cameras would be a problem though.

Re: Reacher [Drama, Action]
I read my first Reacher book maybe 25 years ago, and I have read evey one of the 29 novels so far. The movies with Tom Cruise were OK, but he was in no way Reacher. The TV show has been cast perfectly. The point in the first book that hooked me was how he dealt with the two thugs that pursued him. Ambush, no warning, kill them, break legs to fit them in the boot (trunk). No mucking around. We have greatly enjoyed series 1 and 2, looking forward to 3. We wait until all available then watch one a day. It is important to remember that Reacher is not real. After 29 novels, suspension of disbelief is completely established.
