Four children end up on an adventure to make their way home after being lost in the galaxy following a discovery they make on their home planet. Starring Jude Law.

It is part of the Star Wars franchise, taking place in the same time frame as the The Mandalorian series and its interconnected spin-offs after the events of the film Return of the Jedi (1983).

anyone watched this?  thoughts? worth picking up?

(Keeping in mind that there has been nothing remotely good in the star wars universe in the past decade or so - apart from the mandalorian)

Re: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

1x1 was okay. The focus on a young audience is strong, I might give up the show for that reason. We'll see.

Yes, https://next-episode.net/the-mandalorian was great, but so is https://next-episode.net/andor!

Didn't like it, too child-like for me.

Re: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Its alright if you are short of stuff to watch. Aimed at the younger audience with lots of screaming but still seems to have an interesting story line if the end of e2 is an indication of where it might go.

Re: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Soooo, the thing is Skeleton Crew is something different... like Andor & Acolyte. Both of which I appreciated.

Unfortunately, Disney+ only gave us 2 eps of SC. All of which was just set up!

Since this story seems to clearly be built heavily on vibes, we’ll still have to wait to see if the actors have enough chemistry to keep things interesting. I really don't understand why Disney did this, it's like they are shooting themselves in the foot... again.

This is just my opinion, you can totally like that we only seem to get half a pilot. To some that might be a great cliffhanger but to me it just seemed like Disney thinks all they need to do is put SW on the title and folks will make time to tune in... That the series doesn't need to earn our interest.

For me it was a real error for the folks in charge not to drop enough story for viewers to get a better appreciation for how the series will be... Get the whole band together and rocket towards adventure, don't stop halfway there!?

I tested it before I posted it. Thank you.

I don't understand. I meant mentioning the actual episode which the spoiler is about. smile Like done here: https://forum.next-episode.net/viewtopi … 76#p182776

Since there have only been 2 episodes the odds are high you get it right.

And if you dont click on the spoiler then it doesnt even matter either.

But I get what you mean.

Think of it as a grenade spoiler. smile

Re: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Episode 1 makes me think, this could've been a nice 90mins movie - for both kids and adults.
Unfortunately I cannot imagine myself watching eight 1h episodes of this, so I am gonna drop it.

Shows that deserved more runtime:
Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Company You Keep | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier

Whoops, felt longer to me smile - 38min * 8 is still too much of this for me smile

Re: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

This 3rd Episode does point more towards what this series is gonna be, so I like that we finally got started. I just hope the series lives up to this 3 part set-up. The tone of the character played by Law seems much different in Ep 3 than he was in the tag for Ep 1 and maybe they'll be space and time to resolve this... I hope this series can make it all work. I'll be watching wink

Re: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

After all the positive feedback I heard and read, I decided to give this one another go.
I am happy to admit that I was dead wrong. Second episode was quite enjoyable and I am looking forward to watching the third.

Spoiler

Wim is the reason I still think this would've been better in a movie format. You need a character like him to get the story going, but if he is gonna screw up in every episode (more than once) than this is getting old real fast - he is so far my least favorite character.

Would've been cool if someone would've recognized SM-33 on Borgo. Maybe in EP03 smile

Re: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

For the life of me i cannot agree. massive dumbing down needed to get through it. wheres the wars in this? its a kids treasure hunt where the adult actually believes it.

Re: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Well, I'm enjoying this program but I guess I'm a kid (at least at heart). The droid, SM33, is voiced by an actor that was a favorite (2nd) character from a favorite program (I liked very well) Nick Frost, he played the character Bajie in Into the Badlands (Sonny's sidekick).

Re: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Aside from the tonal wobbling I've found it to be basically a good time... so far. The recent 'curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal' moment was pretty-great and the lead up to Tak Rennod turning out to be The Supervisor seems well on track.

Honestly, this show feels like it's got the energy of just the types of old-timey serials Lucas was trying to capture when he began...  I'm hopefully the series will keep up the momentum, at this point it seems their's to lose [from my perspective].

Re: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

Episode 5 was great. I think they have a great balance of unfolding the plot and it's secrets and mysterys in this show. That combined with lighthearted humor and the pirate-theme has me now convinced for this show. Definitely gonna watch all of it.

Even though we have some good characters in the main cast here, my favorite so far was Hayna in Episode 4...great performance by the actress and very well written.

About Episode 5

Spoiler

I think this was the first time he called it the "Old Republic" infront of the kids, right?...which is interesting since up until not too long ago the kids only new of "The Republic".
Unfortunately this story-thread didn't get too deeply and we weren't part of the conversation where he had to explain how the Old Republic fell, the Jedi's died, the Empire rose and fell again...

For Wim to activate the lightsaber upside-down, I think this is the best way they could've written this scene. Better than him trying to fight Jod and failing or anything else.

Re: Star Wars: Skeleton Crew

The show was good right to the point where they came back to At Attin....then it wasn't, really expected more.

Spoiler

The supervisor was a huge disappointment. A droid, really? And he is destroyed seconds after we find out?...wtf.

And also, if even the supervisor is a droid, why are there even people on At Attin when none of them are in charge...would've been much safer if no people could get the urge to explore the outside world...

I forgot how many vaults they said there were, but one vault would've been plenty enough to make every single one of the pirates richer than rich...so why don't they just load their ship and run...invasion + taken over the mint?...not a great plan.

Jods backstory was also lame.

And then we don't even get to see the meeting with the New Republic...omg.
