Catherine Ravenscroft is a successful and respected TV documentary journalist whose work has been built on revealing the concealed transgressions of long-respected institutions. When a novel written by a widower appears on her bedside table, she is horrified to realize she is a key character in a story that she had hoped was long buried in the past. A story that reveals her darkest secret. A secret she thought was hers alone.

I had added this show immediately when I first read about it, but today I watched the (linked) trailer. WOW! It started out boring (IMHO), but then it turned into a masterpiece! yikes Goosebumps!

Starts Fri Oct 11, 2024.

Tried first episodes... Too complicated and slow for my taste.

Disclaimer:  The story of a grey cat that won't stay off the counters, and the owners who refuse to have it put down.  (That's my take away at least.)

Kevin Kline makes me laugh even when he's not trying.  Sacha Baron Cohen makes me think, "Jak się masz" or "Booyakasha!", and that's just not going anywhere Ali G, no matter how hard you try to re-brand!  As for Catherine...

Spoiler

Is what Catherine did as scandalous as they're making it out to be?  Sure she slept with Jonathon, but he didn't have to swim out to save the son, and even if Catherine screamed, the lifeguards were already on their way.  In a twist ending, it turns out Catherine was raped by Jonathon, and everything we thought was a lie, but by the time the finale came around, I'd presume a slow burner like this had lost most of it's audience anyway.

I'm not entirely convinced the comedic and dramatic elements came together to produce an engaging tone, but Alfonso nailed the cinematography and suspense.

6/10

Re: Disclaimer [Drama, Mystery, Thriller]

Although the status shows "returning series", I see it's a limited/miniseries.  So, no more seasons.
