I liked the pilot quite a bit. Hopefully the production values stay that high.

Promising trailer and IMDb rating! I just hope Nicole Kidman doesn't have too big a role.

Totally agree! A pricey production, authentic-looking settings and scenery, will continue to watch.

Re: Lioness (aka: Special Ops: Lioness)
We really like this show. It sort of reminds me of a lesser Homeland. There have been a few cheesy moments but overall, it's a keeper.

1x3 i think
▼Spoiler Was funny how completely cringe and out of tone the line about Kidman's allergy to her ex-husband was. guessing they did it anyway just to stick it to Cruise.

If it's an episode-specific spoiler please edit your post and add the episode number above the spoiler. Thanks.

1x4. Such a great show! Four more episodes, and I hope then it gets renewed ASAP. @mrverene: Haha, that line didn't even register with me.

Re: Lioness (aka: Special Ops: Lioness)
We loved this show. If Taylor Sheridan stopped with his cowboy stuff and concentrated on more shows like this, I'd be thrilled. This needs a second season big time.

I liked it ▼Spoiler found the end a bit deus ex machina as i thought it'd been set up for her to kill the father in front of the daughter.

Aaand the show is back. And has been renamed to just Lioness. (I liked the longer title better.)

Hahaha, they are at it again in the beginning of 2x2! ▼Spoiler Navy guy: How do you take your coffee? Nicole Kidman's character: Black as my first husband's heart. Poor Tom Cruise.

Re: Lioness (aka: Special Ops: Lioness)
I LOVE season 2! 2x1 brought back some Heat (1995) firefight memories, and 2x2 introduces the next Lioness, Genesis Rodriguez. It took me a while to remember where I saw her before: as Sloane Hargreeves in https://next-episode.net/the-umbrella-academy. She didn't feel 100% authentic in her role back then, but now... WOW! <3

Episode 1 was great. Starting off with some high pace action is never wrong lighton wrote:Aaand the show is back. And has been renamed to just Lioness. (I liked the longer title better.)
Agreed. Lioness alone sounds weird now.
Shows that deserved more runtime: Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Company You Keep | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier

Re: Lioness (aka: Special Ops: Lioness)
Episode 2...I don't know, felt a bit off. ▼Spoiler I get that they wanna show Joe unravel a bit, struggle is part of every good story after all. But they are overdoing it a bit. First off, so far she hasn't been calling the shots. In Episode 1 already, Cody basically gave the commands - I understood that because he knew the lay of the land better than her. Then it's Kyle who comes up with the plan for the Lioness - not her. And that after she basically explodes in that military guys face screaming she chooses the Lioness... That's another thing, she explodes like this two times in the same episode. The second one was especially bad. Soldiers died, everyone is on a adrenaline high - she needs to be the one who keeps a calm, after all she is the "highest ranking officer everywhere she goes". In Season 1 she was the one in control, that's what I liked about the character and the show. Last few minutes were the best of the Episode.

Hmm! ▼Spoiler For me, her reaction felt plausible, given the context (of just almost being perforated by the local militia). Yes, the highest-ranking whatever in any organization should keep calm, but in reality that doesn't work out all of the time.

Episode 5...damn they don't f** around in this season. On another note:
▼Spoiler Do you also think Joe was the first Lioness?

No, they don't! <3 Yes, it was, but ...
▼Spoiler The suicide bomber ruined it a bit for me*. I've never heard suicide bombers being used by cartels. Here's what ChatGPT has to say when I ask: Do Mexican cartels use suicide bombers? Mexican cartels are not known to use suicide bombers as part of their tactics. Their methods of violence and intimidation typically include assassinations, mass killings, kidnappings, car bombs, and armed confrontations, but not suicide attacks. This approach aligns with their operational priorities, which aim to maintain control over territories and influence rather than instill terror through self-sacrificial violence. Suicide bombing is more commonly associated with ideologically motivated groups like certain terrorist organizations, while cartels are profit-driven criminal enterprises. The methods they use are calculated to maximize profit, exert power, and instill fear without requiring their members to sacrifice themselves. There have been rare instances of explosive devices used by cartels, but these have generally been remote-controlled or timed devices rather than suicide missions.
I get the "Oh, yeah, the cartel figured out it might have been the US behind the attack and so they organized a suicide bomber for a nasty surprise" logic, but I'm still a bit annoyed by that choice. *2x7 reveals something that makes my complaint less relevant.

No, that thought never occurred to me. Anything in particular that gave you that impression?

It was
▼Spoiler that conversation she had with Kaitlyn Meade over the phone on the plane. It sounded to me like she plans to groom Cruz as her replacement which solidified through the call with her husband. The way she talked about her with Meade "That's a lot of trust" - "No more than you gave me" "She is better at this than I was" Of course it sounds like it's just about the position of Senior Agent but I think it could also mean that Joe started out the same way Cruz did - as a Lioness.

I heard it the same way and though that makes sense from a career progression sense
