WandaVision spinoff revealing more about Agatha Harkness.

I liked the first two episodes. It used it's first episode pretty good to distance itself from the MCU (which it absolutely should) and established itself as a sidestory.

The only thing they need to fix is the pacing. Episode 1 was a bit too slow and Episode 2 way too fast in my opinion. Cast & characters are great, writing OK.

I loved the end credits which are a slideshow from tv witches. Great idea !

Spoiler

The only thing that I didn't like was that, during the fight scene between Agatha and Black Heart Witch, they constantly had to throw in one-liners. It was basically "punch - one-liner - punch - one-liner - ...".

Re: Agatha All Along

Can it really be called a spinoff when there seems to be hardly any overlap? big_smile

But the trailer looks fun, I shall check this out. Thanks, haven't stumbled upon it yet.

It's helpful to post at https://forum.next-episode.net/viewtopic.php?id=9954 after starting a new TV show thread. Are you willing to do that?

Re: Agatha All Along

Do I need to have watched the WandaVision to understand it?

DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".

P.S.: And how fun that this show features Aubrey Plaza. I just reviewed bits of the great https://next-episode.net/legion yesterday, also featuring her.

Sure can do, weird though that this isn't an automatic process. After all, I start the posts with the "Start a discussion..." link on the show page.

Yes, but some people just use that option to say that a show has aired/ will air soon/ something random, and we don't want those kinds of threads linked automatically as a "Forum" link on show pages.

Interesting. But with that in mind, doesn't the "Start a discussion..." link has more disadvantages than advantages? hmm

Re: Agatha All Along

It's more engaging regarding new users, but it sure has its disadvantages...

Re: Agatha All Along

Soooo, that's

Spoiler

Wiccan right? annnnd he's looking for his family, is my guess?!

Do we think it'll end with

Spoiler

Wanda returning to life [or from an alternative Earth]?  Him reuniting with Speed [his brother] or will it just be Vision showing up to be like, 'I'm colorless now which mean I have no emotions (didn't you read the comics)'?

I hope it's the first, I really would love to see what would happen next in that situation.

Spoiler

Redemption arc baby!

Also, we now have enough Young Avengers to have a movie... Past time to get on that MARVEL!

Spoiler

Wiccan (Billy Kaplan)

If it's Hulkling (Teddy Altman) that Wiccan's texting with then it's just his brother Speed (Tommy Shepherd) who might need to be found or may already just be hanging around [off screen].

As for Iron Lad, they could just use Iron Heart instead and not to spoil his origin, but I doubt he'd be included now unless they want to make Harley from Iron Man 3 the MCU's Iron Lad. As for Kid Vision AKA Jonas he could easily be added. Someone [Iron Heart or Lad maybe] just need to rebuilt Vision as a teen... uh, because tongue

That all being said America Chavez is around too but this version might be too young for this YA team tho there's always the Champions with Ms. Marvel, which I also would love to see however we'd need a lot more new heroes introduced before that team could get off the ground, like Vision's daughter... but I digress, I hope this show keeps me guessing and introducing more avenues for the MCU to grow.

IDK about anyone else but I would love a future where we see the diversity of stories and genres that we find in comics to be available to tune in for in the MCU. This is why Phase 4 had been my favorite, so far. I loved seeing Chang-Shi and The Eternals doing their own things while the heroes were off messing about with whatever Tuesday apocalypse they're stuck in.

Re: Agatha All Along

Episode 3 was kinda "just OK". Hope they can improve on the next one...

Spoiler

The frist trial was basically just "do you know your recipe ingredients and where to find them?" - meh...not here for a cooking show. The dark memories(?) were ok, but too easily overcome.

Agatha herself was very disappointing. She felt more like a supporting character then the lead.
She also was all over the place, sometimes you think she knows exactly what's going on just to realize she doesn't have a clue.
Then she tries to leave the house and abandon the others...why? I mean they are already on the road. Apart from finishing the trials what other options does she have - hopefully they have a good explanation for what happened here...

And the most important scene, with the baby crying and the book, was way too short...not enough time for a emotional rollercoaster. This scene should have been the center of the episode.

Re: Agatha All Along

I fully agree! 1x3 could have been a lot better.

The episode could have been titled Agatha - An Asshole. cool

Re: Agatha All Along

Thankfully Episode 04 was a whole lot better than EP03. Not as good as EP01, but still a good sign.

Spoiler

Good thing they brought back Aubrey Plazas character Rio in this episode. I was worried we had to wait till they left The Road until we could see her again.
Her relationship with Agatha looks interesting enough and I am really curious about their past.

Agathas behaviour in this episode was great, not too friendly but also nothing wildly irritating like in EP03.

The song was good, as long as they sing only every other episode it's fine.

But if "teen" turns out to be her son I will drop this show immediately - this wouldn't fit the story at all.
Rio already said he isn't, but who knows.
