Re: The Ark (2023)

Finally season two. Nothing better or worse than season 1 so far.

I agree with most of what has been said here about this show:
The acting is not very good, the story is meh, science is not included & the character development goes awfully zigzag, almost like in a DC comic tv shows smile

Many things are just poorly directed:

Spoiler

In EP01 of season two, Eva lies unconcious in the engineering room - all around her is fire. Brice comes in to safe her. Instead of first extinguishing the fire he decides to put her in a space suit...that alone would be OK if he started with the helmet that provides oxygen...but no, he starts with the onesy? I can only imagine that it takes quite some time to put an unconcious person into a onesy...

But strangely, I still like it - couldn't explain why though. Gonna keep watching despite all the shortcomings, really wish I knew why I like it smile

Shows that deserved more runtime:
Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Company You Keep | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier

Yes, same with me; it seems to be made on a very tight budget, the sets are cheap, the acting very patchy, stories vary in quality; but like you I still enjoy watching it but have no idea why I do….

I'll still say it's the conflict resolution thing; they don't drag things out, they resolve them and move on to the next problem.

But threre's another part... they seem to be actually trying? If you watch, say, the latter seasons of The Flash, you can just tell the writers are playing a game of "how dumb can we make this and still have people watch it?". It feels deliberate. Here, the quality is very much bad, but it feels like if everyone involved could have made it better with the resources they had, they would have at the very least tried. That's worth a lot.

Same with The Outpost.

I also think, they haven't had a major plot-hole or contradiction so far, not 100% sure though.

And another thing. It feels to me like the actors and actresses worked on their acting inbetween the seasons.
I see some some real improvement there.
