Follow-up series to 'Vikings' set 100 years afterward and centering on the adventures of Leif Erikson, Freydis, Harald Harada and the Norman King William the Conqueror.

This should be worth a lookin if you liked the orginal Vikings?

Re: Vikings: Valhalla

I'll watch it, but imo what made Vikings truly great, were these three and the story around them, all the rest is just riding on their epic performance

They managed to achieve the effect that you feel like you are on a battlefield while watching it smile https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpNU0aqPG5o

Basically most of associations I have with Vikings, are Ragnar doing something. That guy is like he was born for this role, on the same level as Schwarzenegger in Terminator.

Re: Vikings: Valhalla

Agreed, Ragnar is so iconic in Vikings. Everything without him was pretty "meh": not bad, but far from great. Ivar had potential, but didn't fulfill it.
So skipping this one.

Re: Vikings: Valhalla

well I have watched the first 1 and 1/2 eps and find it boring. lacklustre. one viking is as much like any other. They always better the pathetic Saxons. None of the actors have any real charisma unlike the original show as mentioned above. Fortunately it is an 8 eps all at once Netflix show so no need to wait week after week for the next less than interesting eps. Binge watch them one week end

well starts to pick up at eps 4
By the time I got to eps 8 it had found its pace fast paced end. This show at times is bloodier than the original .

Spoiler

The very last moment of eps 8 he sort of went berserk

Re: Vikings: Valhalla

Pfffff... I found it quite bad. Somehow managed to sit through it but most of the time I felt like I can't stand it anymore. And started to skip scenes...

Weak leads, the only ones who do a decent job is Bradley Freegard and Laura Berlin. The rest ranges from forgettable to just yuck. Especially Sam Corlett and Frida Gustavsson cannot carry the show. Their acting is plainly awful and lacks character.

So, take bad acting, poor character development, a bit of wokeness sprinkled into a boring and uninteresting story line... then you get Vikings: Valhalla.

Utter disappointment.

Jupp, tho I have only seen 4eps so far, King Canute is the only one with any form for screen presence. The rest feels bland and weak. So far the Queen actor has not done anything worthy of note, maybe the impression will change in the last 4 episodes.

Re: Vikings: Valhalla

so finished all 8 eps and some good fight scenes but crackpot plots

Spoiler

But the idea of taking a ship DOWN  a waterfall, who thought that nonsense up? The final fight between Olaf and Freydis was convincing none of this Marvel/Avengers so so easy with infinite energy could fight for hours and hours and be as fresh as a daisy. BUT at the end of eps 8 last few minutes the sight of Contantinople was UNDERWEALMING  in fact why did the vikings bother. In fact did we see anythng? NADA NOWT So a very bad ending, come on they  should have been able afford some cgi

Re: Vikings: Valhalla

season 3. getting to the point of too many story lines, flitting backwards and forwards all the time

Re: Vikings: Valhalla

I really tried to give it another go... but sorry.... those actors are just killing it for me.

Well, since the average low budget porn movie casts better actors... I can just go with those if I really need to see naked bodies. wink
