some_one wrote:I'd say the show was overall fine. But is nobody gonna mention the way the guy talks? Like a poor imitation of how he seems to think an edgy 90s movie protagonist should talk, which would already be bad enough if done well. Took me forever to get used to.
But the comic was first published in 1989, and that's kind of how he talks in it.

The words, yeah. Those are fine. But the voice? Weird half-mumbled pseudo-introspective tone?

It doesn't bother me at all, I think it fits his character.

Wow, wow, WOW! I just watched 1x6 The Sound of Her Wings. I didn't expect this. Sooo good! <3 No surprise: it's got the highest rating of all 11 episodes.

Yep, and strangely enough it's my favourite of all the comics too. Great stuff - moving, powerful and just bloody great.

Are you referring to the bonus episodes or the original ten?. Because apart from the look of the characters and a bit of wokeness, the script was very much copy paste from the words in the comic. Entire episodes were word for word from the comics. For example, his meeting with death/his sister or the scene at the bar. Even much of the hotel was from the comics. Yes, they modified or removed some parts, but that’s any tv show for you.
I've only watched the first 5, and I actually had my Absolute edition on my lap, which I was flicking through as I was watching. If you're saying the script followed the comics word for word, I must have different comics.
You must have been watching a different show been reading a different comic. Take this example as a tiny sample: https://twitter.com/netflix_sandman/sta … H3sQk4W6rw

Same. Loved it. Brilliant. And almost copy paste word for word from The comics.

Watch "24/7", as an example. Quite different.

Yes, this episode was quite different. But the series as a whole was very good and very close (almost word for word) to the comics

Call me old school and misogynistic, but shouldn't we (heavens forefend!) wait and see if he is convicted or even charged before we pound the burning stake into the ground and start collecting kindling?

What world do you live in? The way it is supposed to work and the way it really works are totally ass backwards. The slightest accusation and you are history. Thats the culture of today. Guilty until proven innocent is the new norm. You can thank social f'n media for this.

I live in a fantasy world where people are innocent until proven guilty and we don't pick our friends based on who they voted for in the last election.

Isn't it a bit early to act like he has been cancelled already? Although I have to say that at best it seems like he's a creepy middle aged man. The business with the nanny (who he probably employs) doesn't reflect well. It's pretty understandable for people and companies not want to associate with people who do these sorts of things. I just wish there wasn't a double standard for people who that but have enough power/money and this sort of stuff needs to be put out in the media before any reactions happen.

Re: The Sandman [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]
I didn't really like the first season of The Sandman, primarily because it failed to capture the god-like status of the characters involved - which the graphic novels managed brilliantly. In this adaption the characters feel just above the supernatural, but it never gives you the feeling these are beings you cannot comprehend. Never forgave them for not adapting Dreams eyes properly either. Also Despair looks too normal and Destiny...no feeling of mystery about him whatsoever. Not so sure about Delirium yet, I really hope they did her right because she is my favorite character from the graphic novels. That being said, the second season feels like a slight improvement to the first, watched the first three episodes so far. Since this is probably the only on-screen adaption we will ever get, I am going to watch it no matter what. Also episode three already disappointed me...
▼Spoiler Why change who made the decision for the Key to Hell? It was "the creator" who send a message to Remiel and Durma and took back Hell and put them in charge. It wasn't Dream... That is an important distinction because in the original version you couldn't really fault dream for not opposing Heaven. But here, the angels were just observers so it's justifiable for everyone who wanted hell to be angry with him. Also in the comics Nula or Nuala was depicted as "ugly" without her glamour. Here she looks almost even better than before, basically just removed her make-up.

I watched half of the first episode of the second series and gave up. I felt the first series was better. Off my watchlist

Re: The Sandman [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]
Apart from the already mentioned the ending of season two was ok, better than I was expecting 6/10. Especially Orpheus story was very well done and Johanna Constantine was also ok. Destruction was also too normal for my taste, and Barnabas should've had more lines. The small hints of identity politics really surprised me though since the original story was already pretty progressive and challenging for it's time - with a hard dose of reality though which is clearly lacking here. ▼Spoiler They did manage to spoil everything... First time on Orpheus island Delirium basically gave everything away with talking about spilling family blood and such. Even if you haven't read the comics you already knew what was happening...
Edit: Whoops didn't realize that Season 2 comes in two parts, next six episodes to be released in two weeks

LOVE season 2. I'm at ep6 of the second season and it is just awesome. Wasn't a big fan of season 1, but the second season is just awesome. Just an awesome mix of great story telling weaving in all the different cultural fragments into a weird but well constructed mess.
