I'm watching ep 4 now and holy shit get ready for a good one.

Spoiler

Homelander is going ham on the scientists that experimented on him, just wow.

Re: The Boys

The thing that irks me the most is that if the show is so-called woke, this sort of discussion pops up and then if there is a show that is not woke someone always goes "it's so good and it's not woke, why doesn't every show do this" and thread ends up back on the same discussion. Can't really win.

Re: The Boys

One thing was a missed opportunity was seeing mute-girls face splattered. Seeing the reaction of her mates not good enough!

Oof. Someone explained it elsewhere. It's apparently much worse (arguably).

Spoiler

That's a lobotomy tool. She intentionally damaged her own brain for some peace and quiet. That also explains the rest of that scene.

It will presumably heal after a short while? Somebody mentioned there being some amount of healing ability mentioned in her file on-screen.

Thanks, I wondered about that and was happy to find an answer here that makes sense. smile

Re: The Boys

While I think they have destroyed one of the best / most engaging storylines,  Kimiko and Frenchie's relationship this season, I will admit that the scene of Homelander visiting his childhood laboratory was absolutely terrifying. They were literally powerless to stop what they all knew was coming the second he walked in.

Anthony Starr absolutely nails that role.  He is the only reason I'm continuing to watch it.

Re: The Boys

Episode 5 continues to be good.

Gotta say though the whole side story with Hugie, and Frenchies side story have been kinda lame.

Spoiler

The farm animals were a bit much, as was the explanation that V got into the water supply,  but overall entertaining.

Re: The Boys

4x5. Loved it when Firecracker interviewed that "expert" (in the Starlight/ abortion context) who said:

Spoiler

"There was a study done at Samaritan's Embrace University on ferrets which proves unborn babies feel pain as early as conception."

lol

Re: The Boys

this series had started to get a bit tired untl eps 5 at the farm....very funny

Re: The Boys

Big improvement in the latest episode, the farm incident was ridiculous in a fun way.

Yeah, the farm was a fun idea, but why didn't they just head-pop every attacking animal? And I found it a bit rude to solve the sheep issue, but leave the killer chickens around for someone else to find. cool

Firecracker and Deep - Up Where We Belong
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeR8Fsu-M30

You saw it already on Firecracker’s recent six-hour VNN special, but for the first time ever online, it’s her full performance of “Up Where We Belong” featuring Deep. God Himself smiled down from heaven as they sang, and we bet He’ll be streaming on Voughtify too!

cool lol

I'd say more "A Beautiful Mind".

2020.  Meh.

Re: The Boys

Meh... I'm out. I just can't find anything in this season which really keeps me interested. Felt already its not going to develop into my kind of show in season 2 and 3 to be honest. But season 4 is just a collection of fragmented storylines which most of them I find dull and boring. The odd hilarious gore scene or rare - given awesome - Homelander scenes can't save it.

Definate vibes of both but Fight Cub came first though.

Been a bit hit and miss this series but i Loved this latest ep - and remember kids if you see something say something tongue.
Ultra Violence and puppets gotta love it smile.

Re: The Boys

I fast forward past any scene with just Huey and Starlight. Just worthless inconsequential scenes and dialogue between those two.

That scene really deserved a

full episode to itself. Too much cutting to other plotlines. Needed to knuckle down and revel in the terror of the scientists inevitable demise....

4x8

Wow, what a season finale!

And make sure you watch the mid-credit scene. smile

225

Re: The Boys

Season 4 overall was ok, the final was amazing, at least the last 30 minutes.

Spoiler

Finally, Frechny + Kimiko smile been waiting for this ever since they met. I hope they get a happily ever after.
Kimiko at the end...yes, f**ing yes, perfect.

Kimiko's sidestory overall should've had a proper ending.
Frenchy turning himself in, ok until that point everything was ok. But then he just gets released (involuntarily) and the story continues....don't think the writers thought that sidestory completely through.

Connecting it to Gen V was the right decision imho and good delivery. Although I watched it I honestly can't remember how all the characters ended up...guess blondy and brother ended up on Vought's side - gotta give this one another watch before season 5.

Up until last episode Starlight had only one good moment in the entire season, when she punched the crap out of Firecracker.
She ended on a high, with freeing herself, ending the shapeshifter and with Hughie. Good ending for her.

Butcher's character development is just awesome. You rarely see a character being an a**h*** like him these days. Love what they are doing with him.

Hughie's side story with his dad...wish they hadn't done the V thing. It's basically Hughie's fault that those people in the hospital died - wasn't necessary, especially since it had apparently no repercussions whatsoever.
Could've given him a "normal" death just as well.

MM was unfortunately useless in this season...could've worked without him just as well. Should have given him a better sidestory or something.

Victoria Neumann also great character, didn't want her to die tbh...

Sage was a huge disappointment, it started of good, but then she just disappears for an entire episode, shows up at the end and, oh all good.
They should have had her explain her whole masterplan to Homelander after she told him it all worked out well....I know that's a lame trope, but it works, at least better than what we have seen here.

I don't get why Homelander doesn't just kill all the politicians and declares himself a dictator or something. Now he has another puppet he doesn't directly control himself.

Shows that deserved more runtime:
Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Company You Keep | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier
