Re: Features/Improvements Requests

Having the previous / next month buttons in bottom of the list (on mobile) makes sense. It's now done!

Season finales - I'm yet analyze for what percent of the most popular shows we have that info and whether integrating it deeper into the site makes sense (not only in the calendar, but also on the homepage, Episodes and the site, email and app notifications).

Multiple watchlists is not something that's gonna happen any time soon - it's gonna require a major rework of basically all functionality on Next Episode.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

Hey @santah, long ago I requested a tweak to the watchlist on the homepage out on the left. The tweak would be to have a greyed out "More(In Development)" category where all the shows that are marked as in development would be listed rather then having them in the main list similar to shows that are inactive in the More(Inactive Shows) caregory.

Is there any chance that could become a thing?

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

Not a big chance I'm afraid.

If we do that, why not do a category for "in hiatus", "upcoming", "running" (and I'm not willing to bloat it that much).

What is so special about the in development shows that you want to exclude them from the list?

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

The /track page is broken when you select a show to start tracking.

The URL generated in clicking [track], something like https://next-episode.net/track?startTracking=31775

...results in a blank page.  There are no browser errors.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

Thanks for reporting this.

Switched the source for this series to TVMaze.com (from TheTVDB.com) and it should be now ok.

Cheers!

Well in short it's because my list is around 50% "In Development", most of them are not going to come out for years and it makes that particular feature significantly less useful for me as I "cruise" through the list checking for news. If that is the case for me then I suspect that it's the same for others.

The "In Development"-category stands out from the others categories because in most cases there is not going to be any activity for years, in that way it's very similar to the "Inactive"-category as there is rarely activity there either although it does happen but it's obvious that these have been put into their own category because of the lack of activity, well that principle also applies to "In Development".

If you think about the usecases for this list then I'd think that most people use it to go through what is happening with their shows e.g. what shows have gotten release dates far out in the future or similar but these shows in development are largely irrelevant for that purpose, it's just unnecessary clicks unless you're specifically looking for the shows that are in development but a category would solve that and changes to the list(e.g. a show moved from InDev to Upcoming(active)) would be more noticeable.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

Bug - My calendar doesn't show any shows airing after March 31.  Individual shows have next episodes listed so this appears to be an issue with the calendar display.

Any chance you can add Dropout as a streaming option? I'm not sure how difficult it is to do something like that.

It's not difficult, but are there enough shows on it and is it popular enough to make it worth it go into the services list?

I suppose that's ultimately your call, but it is my favorite streaming service for what that's worth smile

You can turn off signatures. Go to the top of this page, choose Profile, then Settings. "Signature Display" is in bold font; untick the box.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

On the Calendar page, the movie titles are shown in dark red which is hard to read with the new dark theme.
Can we try changing them to something else please?

It's the same with the Saturday/Sunday labels, but they are less important.

^^ i dont want to turn them off
... most are ok and often interesting, but some are really excessive (and normally forums limit the height/length) - for good reason

Maybe use something like uBlock Origin to filter out the object.
I presume you are talking about he NE shows signatures.  They should be easy to filter.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

I sent santah a PM, but he likes this to be discussed in public,  so be it smile

santah wrote:

Why would you reply as a private message though?

Post this in the thread we started it so the other moderators can read it too.

You have a very valid concern and I'll need the input of the other moderators to figure out how to handle this anyway smile

Cheers!

no problem^^ and you dont have to answer or explain, its your site wink

I was admin & moderator myself in the last 30 years, a lot wink
... and i would have never set up forum rules and then not enforced them...

in "TV Show Discussions" you have rules  (https://forum.next-episode.net/viewtopic.php?id=11035).
But many user dont follow them. ATM there are 7 threads just on the 1st page without link, info or anything...
If you look at the next pages there should be more

These posts are hard to read, and are no fun.
Worse - you/your admins even reply without "complain"/"correction" ...

I like your rules, makes show-threads easy to read and fun to "have a look at"...
Especially since those rules are "common standard" and easy to enforce:
e.g. reply (PM or better public) with a standard pre-formulated texts, the rules-link, a short explanation and the  info that without correction the post/thread will be deleted in a week, voila...

... so i vote: lets enforce those rules, it would add to the site-quality & attractiveness

I'm happy that you also enjoy those TV show posts with more info/ links. It's hard to enforce since some users don't care about that, and it has become even harder since it's now possible to start a thread from show pages, without ever seeing the suggested format in the forums.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

I'd suggest that the rule not be strictly enforced, since frankly, it seems like homework when all you want to do is put a quick comment on a show page. It's especially annoying that even if you link the show page, paste the picture, paste the description, paste the trailer, etc. then remember what your comment was in the first place, you then have to paste the show page and the page of the thread you just made in another thread to have them linked up. Otherwise, other people would have to do the same thing just to comment, not knowing there's already a thread.

I know personally I vacillate between not bothering to comment or not bothering to follow the rule, with the former being the most common choice. I've also seen people who had interesting things to say, which would've likely started nice discussions, just delete the thread when asked to follow the format. I like the way pages with forum threads already running have comments at the bottom and you can just post a new one. Idk if it's possible or feasible to just have that button whether there's a current thread or not, such that comments would just go to the bottom of the page, but that'd be ideal for me.

Re: Features/Improvements Requests

Petty complaint, I do not want to be forced to look at notifications when I log in. I appreciate the box indicating how I can see notifications are available but I already know that. The dialog box would not let me close it and navigate the site normally, I HAD to look at the notifications which now means the number is 0, isn't red, and doesn't blink. I wasn't ready to look at those and now I'll forget there were new things to look at.
