Topic: Gotham Knights [2023]

“Who Killed The Batman?”

In the wake of Bruce Wayne's death and unmasking, his adopted son Turner Hayes forges an unlikely alliance with runaways Harper & Cullen Row as well as the criminal Duela when they are all accused of a murder they didn't commit by district attorney Harvey Dent. While Robin might be the only one who believes in their innocents, she might not be able to save them and protect the city alone. Though perhaps together they can become Gotham Knights!

  • Turner Hayes - Bruce Wayne's adoptive son who has been framed for murder.

  • Carrie Kelley AKA 'ROBIN' -  Sidekick to the Batman in search of the culprits of her mentor's murder.

  • Duela - The Joker's daughter, a violent criminal and among those framed for murder.

  • Harper Row - A young engineer from a violent home and among those framed for murder

  • Cullen Row - Harper's streetwise brother and among those framed for murder.

  • Stephanie Brown - Turner's best friend and an expert coder.

  • Harvey Dent - District Attorney who was a close friend of Bruce Wayne and his son.

List of suspects:
Commissioner Yindel
Detective Ford
Lincoln March
Rebecca March
Brody March

or even Joe Chill

Separating an adaptation form it's source material can be difficult for fans of any story or characters which makes the jump from one medium into another, whether it novel to movie or comic book to series. As a long time reader of the BAT-Fam this reimagining was wild. And DC is still doing this odd 'erase gingers' thing it's been on forever... I mean they are only 5% of the world as it is folks (plus there are like a 1000 white folks in the BATverse however once again they choose the only ginger to change the race of... I guess we did get a blonde Spoiler even if she's not the working class hero she is in the comics).

That being as it is, I found the pilot to be alright, I can't say I love it but it has potential and I'm willing to see if it lives up to that potential or goes wild like GOTHAM did... even if I know it won't last for all that long on the CW.

Anyone else have an opinion?

Re: Gotham Knights [2023]

I watched the trailer, didn't like it.  The animation (for me) is horrendous.

DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".

Re: Gotham Knights [2023]

I'm on the fence with this one.

Batman was never my favorite growing up, so there's that.

While I didn't hate the 1st episode, I wasn't overly impressed either.  I'll check out at least one more (possibly 2) before I totally give up or give in and watch it.

1st episodes can be hard with trying to introduce all the characters and plot lines.

The CW, instant no. cool

Methinks you watched the game trailer (which does have pretty horrendous animation and even worse movement). This is live action and not the same bit of the batverse. But as Lighton mentioned, it's CW, so prolly best to avoid.

Having said that, the first ep wasn't bad (apart from the last five minutes). If it stayed like this i'd be elated but you can already see the seeds of CW-iness there to be retread.

Re: Gotham Knights [2023]

Just started the 2nd Ep and can't help wonder how the GCPD found the BatCave? Come on show, I'm here for the cheese this show is spreading but even I don't buy Harvey & Co just stumbling across the entrance to the cave roll

Also if you're not making The Cave entrance behind a grandfather clock where you have to set the hands to the exact-time when Bruce's parents were murdered to open the door, then what are they even doing  tongue

Best Redic Quote of the Ep "I mean, the guy couldn't even figure out his dad was Batman."

Re: Gotham Knights [2023]

Still in the non-painful column for me after ep 2.

Though martial arts/fencing training without special Batman classes seems a bit light for going up against a zombie assassin.

Re: Gotham Knights [2023]

Y’all spitting facts and 2 and 1st episode didn’t really do it for me. I’m a dc fan till I die so all content I gotta watch to see if they helpin or hurting my fav franchise. Borderline we need some new producers. Except for the flash I love it. And Titans need to hurry up no lie. Follow me on Tik tok @Ghzt

Re: Gotham Knights [2023]

Okay, I'm a BatFAM fan and as such I find it kind of annoying that most of the FAM used here are actually from lower income backgrounds or the outright Bowery [the worst neighborhood in Gotham] yet here all the characters, even the suburbanite avenger Steph Brown, are basically rich in the GKU meanwhile Carrie, who's at this school on 'scholarship' is the daughter of a doctor... Ummm, okay first the ginger erasure and now none of them are really poor aside from the Rows.

If this show wasn't sooo dumb it's fun I don't know if I'd be down for all the less advantaged young adults being criminals (petty or not). But until it stops being a good time, I can't wait for more to laugh and complain about. Speaking of, how many people died running into traffic for that cash hmm

Also, just based on what I've seen in the show I'm calling Lincoln March as a leader of the Court (at least this season) and Harvey's shrink is a member. That's all just theory cool

Re: Gotham Knights [2023]

Welp it's officially a bog-standard CW show now ftl. I like that they were more concerned about Harper pulling a criminal job than her having dated a guy who looks to be like 15 years older.

Re: Gotham Knights [2023]

I liked Gotham Knights [2023] till they decided to add a narrator in episode 5 I thought it was the dumbest idea I ever saw

Re: Gotham Knights [2023]

I can't believe this is one of the shows I'm excited for weekly... it's cheesier than Sister Boniface and I'm loving it!
[Thanks to Don Adams for the perfect line]

Re: Gotham Knights [2023]

Oh no, Cressida, I'm so sorry. I was so caught up in this conversation that I missed the dozen people, one of whom is using a cane and has been out of the hospital for less than a day, walking up behind you in this well lit clearing of this quiet wood. and now look, you're all stabbed and dead and stuff. damn this full moon and my sharp teenager eyes and hearing! how could they have possibly found us after we ran through here in a straight line for like 30 seconds? they must be wizards!

Re: Gotham Knights [2023]

OMG, I was just catching up on Gotham Knights and I just realized that that's Ethan Embry as Cluemaster!
