Re: Superman & Lois

Don't be confused by the actor switch of the Johnathan Kent character.  The guy in the last 2 seasons had enough.   Take care.

Re: Superman & Lois

Good first episode... It's kind of weird that, at one point, there was a DC Superhero show every weekday night, in some cases multiple a night, all on The CW and now it's this weird HBO produced (?) series that seems to take place on another Earth than the Prime-Arrowverse which will likely be the end of an era, A Golden Age of Live-Action DC Heroes!

They weren't always good but there sure was a lot of them and for a moment there it gave the MCU a run for it's money.

one thing i hate:  SUPERMAN GET A SHAVE YOU LOOK LIKE A BUM WHO LIVES ON THE STREETS

30

Re: Superman & Lois

what do people make of season 3? Seems to be becoming a kitchen sink drama to me. too much melodrama

31

Re: Superman & Lois

Seems the same to me. A snooze but at least not as annoying as flash.

Re: Superman & Lois

Spoiler

clearly the reason why lois has cancer is due to Supermans x ray vision?

Thats the only story line I seem to get from season 3

33

Re: Superman & Lois

What the hell happened in the writing room of this show?

“Let’s turn this around from an enjoyable and fun, somewhat decent superhero story to melodrama

Spoiler

about Lois and cancer

”.

For the love of God, this is on part with the Flash now in terms of bad , but at least the Flash didnt take itself quite as seriously as this.

I’ve literally fallen asleep watching the latest episode 3 times now…apparently it comes from a particular comic story line but come on man! You’ve got 80 years of story to pull from and this is the one you choose?

The ratings must be completely tanking.

"I promise to keep these ordinary 1940s human tech goggles safe while i use them to conceal my identity on my heat vision adventures, Grandpa. Y'know on account of them being a priceless family heirloom and stuff."

Re: Superman & Lois

This season is fantastic... it's like the X-Men in Australia type of character work and great world building... Plus INTERGANG cool

are we watching the same show or are you high on some thing!

Re: Superman & Lois

Not seeing the comparison to the X-men in Australia apart from both being terrible. I'd be glad to push this through the siege perilous though.
I do like Chad L. Coleman's Mannheim, but then I like him in anything. They're writing him more Luthor-y than I'd expect Mannheim to be, but fine. If he leads to later

Spoiler

Darkseid

stuff I hope they don't botch it as badly as Smallville and Snyder.

My comparison to the X-Men: Australia is based on... How when that oft maligned mighty marvel band of mutants were basically exiled to the Australian Outback, the stories stopped being about world shattering events for a beat and became even more character focused... this slow down in S&L gives the series that same opportunity the X-Men had when they were just hangin' around in the Outback, to flesh out characters. An opportunity, I think, S&L is taking advantage of well.

I want to understand more about how the son of Superman is dealing with the powers?! I want to how how that makes his twin feel?! How it works when you come out as a super to your friends?! How it might feel to live on a parallel earth with your not-mother... admittedly I don't see where the cancer thing is going but I'm on board for where it leads.

Re: Superman & Lois

Gotcha. Though I wouldn't trust any character development that happens in a cw show, as they've shown so many times that their characters act in whatever way is convenient to the plot of a particular episode.

Spoiler

They threw me with this latest episode. I thought it was going to be an afterschool special teaching us that you should buy your kid a damned phone so they aren't bored enough that they want to spend time with their family. That could lead to them running off on their own and you couldn't find them cuz no phone. But it turned out to be the opposite lesson - that if you buy them a phone so they don't get bored, they'll never run off and therefore you can't have all their problems solved by a teenaged family friend. Those cw writers are always mixing it up.

Re: Superman & Lois

I can not see how this cancer plot line is going to end satisfactory - if she dies thats the end of the show and if she survives the show could be accused of just exploiting the issue, since many/most do die. Any way there is just too little Superman these days and too much touchy-feelly. The show is starting to go the same way as Supergirl when the trans-woman was introduced - bad

Being Superman is now his 2nd job.

I’ve started watching it on 1.5x makes it almost bearable. Not sure how long that will last for though. It’s more depressing than enjoyable.

Re: Superman & Lois

Highly doubt it. 'Superman and the one annoying kid and the other annoying kid who's not quite as annoying as with the previous actor' doesn't have the same ring to it.

Re: Superman & Lois

OMGezz... I just watched Ep 6 annnnd well done! Loved all the FAM stuff, the relationship with cancer is being handled well and wouldn't mind seeing a little sibling rivalry for the 'cool' young lady of the series. I know we had the STEELS on last Ep but more of them... I don't trust Nat's boyfriend, just sayin'... THIS SHOW IS SO MUCH FUN... oh and I knew Lois' new friend was gonna turn out to be Bruno's wife from the outset but I was surprised to find out

Spoiler

she's also this Earth's Onomatopoeia!?!
