Noah Centineo plays a fledgling lawyer at the CIA who becomes enmeshed in dangerous international power politics when a former asset threatens to expose the nature of her long-term relationship with the agency, unless they exonerate her of a serious crime.

Re: The Recruit

This one is fun. Also the cast is great with a familiar faces from Superstore and Orphan Black.

Re: The Recruit

Cool, want to give it a try!

Re: The Recruit

Cool show! smile Watched 1x1 and 1x2 so far, and I agree with IMDb users, it's only slightly less good than https://next-episode.net/tom-clancys-jack-ryan.

If you've wondered about the strange episode names (1x3 is named "Y.D.E.K.W.Y.D."; I don't recall ever seeing stranger ones! big_smile ), see https://www.distractify.com/p/the-recruit-episode-names.

Re: The Recruit

Finished season 1! Good show, 8/10. The final three minutes could have been better, I hope it'll be renewed.

I wonder how much of the CIA insanity is based on reality. big_smile https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/ … s-answered doesn't answer everything, but it's better than nothing. smile

Re: The Recruit

Not normally the sort of thing I would watch but tried it any way and a great series it is but tarnished by often poor diction making it hard to understand what they are saying - and it is the dialogue that is so important

I don't share that sentiment. Was there too much CIA terminology for your taste, or was it something else?

no just poor diction. bad actor training. or maybe you are american so that is normal, slurring words?

I'm not American but I talk to US folks every now and then. I thought the acting was mostly great.

I thought the acting also great but not the diction pronounciation of words So many of the dialogies I had to guess what was being said.

Strange... but you could have used subtitles. smile

12

Re: The Recruit

now finished it and it was a great series.

13

Re: The Recruit

I liked it. Had a bit much of the 'every character coincidentally knows each other' thing but I imagine that's just to save on casting. Pronunciation seemed fine to me - i.e. I had to slow it down to 1.8x with subs to watch it without backtracking. That signals to me they're talking closer to actual American speed rather than the excruciatingly slowed down dialogue a lot of shows have.

Re: The Recruit

Enjoyed it and looking forward to season 2.

Re: The Recruit

Three episodes into Season 2 and it's basically everything I could've asked for.
The transition to the new story is perfectly placed and doesn't leave anything behind.
It hasn't changed at all compared to Season 1 which is absolutely a good thing.

The only thing that's a bit annoying (up to and including EP03)...

Spoiler

...him telling almost everyone his father died in the line of duty.
I get it, it's his drive and emotional soft spot, but does he have to mention it like every 20 minutes ?...the audience knows by now what happened...

Also when the shooting began in the meeting, the sound was horribly mixed. No proper balance between bullets and music - especially since they didn't cut out the voices from the music track.

Shows that deserved more runtime:
Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Company You Keep | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier

I also enjoyed season 2. smile

Let's hope it gets (at least) one more season!

Re: The Recruit

Finished Season 2. It was awesome. Even though 6 episodes are just not enough sad
Can't wait for the next season (if we get one - I see no reason to the contrary smile ).

The last episode was hilariously unrealistic smile but that didn't make it any less a great season finally.

Re: The Recruit

so Maddie Hasson of Impulse  fame is the Russian blond killer in season 2 How she has changed ( or made to look ) I cant believe they are the same person. I keep on looking for tell tale signs  cant see them. I am glad to see she still active as she showed great talent in that earlier show.

The eyebrows freaked me out - if those weren't dyed I would've recognized her a lot sooner smile

Re: The Recruit

Season two was a clear improvement from season one... you can see the actors, characters and writers room finally figuring themselves out and hitting their stride. I am now waiting for the Netflix cancellation notice any day now

Re: The Recruit

glad to see you know-who got what she deserved.  I felt the last eps was a but hurried and contrived
