Topic: The Last of Us [Drama, Adventure, Thriller, Horror]
https://next-episode.net/the-last-of-us
Based on the video-game "The Last Of Us", the show follows hardened survivor Joel and Ellie, a young and capable girl, on their journey through a radically transformed world. Set twenty years after an infectious pandemic caused by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus ravaged humankind, these two people, who were brought together by chance, must make life-altering decisions in order to survive. The Last of Us explores themes of survival, loyalty, love and redemption in an emotionally charged expedition across the post-epidemic United States.

Re: The Last of Us [Drama, Adventure, Thriller, Horror]
According to Wikipedia, it's "said to be the largest television production in Canadian history" - and the Official Teaser looks like it. I love it!

TIL @paisley1 lives in the Alberta Legislature Building. Somebody be in charge of telling me whether to play the game, watch the show or both and in which order.

Re: The Last of Us [Drama, Adventure, Thriller, Horror]
I gave up on consoles other than emulators so I'll only have sequel access if sony decides to port it to PC. I should probably just stick with the show, as my game backlog is even more ridiculous than my series one.

Pedro Pascal, Anna Torv, Nick Offerman + HBO - it will be disappointing if this will not be good.

Re: The Last of Us [Drama, Adventure, Thriller, Horror]
Just finished watching the juicy 120 minute long first episode. It does seem promising. I'm guessing the first episode is 120 minutes and the rest are 70 minute episodes? I don't know but I enjoyed it well enough. It's a beginning.

Re: The Last of Us [Drama, Adventure, Thriller, Horror]
I only had time to watch the first 3 minutes of 1x1, but must already say... GENIUS! No idea if they copied that 1:1 from the game (games often have video intros these days), but when a show starts on this level, it can't be bad. Edit: crazy initial 9.6/10 with 10k IMDb votes! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3581920/ratings/

I got entirely too tickled by the grampsiness of this bit First ep was good, didn't feel quite as long as it was, which is always nice with an absurd run time. Will stick for now.

Well, it was 80 minutes (1 h 20 min) and not quite 120 minutes (I made the same assumption as well at first). I loved this. It kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire episode. Looking forward to see what kind of role Nick Offerman will have in this, too.

Ah, was mistaking the "1:20" on the player for 120 minutes when it was actually 1 hour & 20 minutes (ie 80 minutes.) My bad and thanks for the correction.

There's not much of a score, the music is mostly your typical TV pulsing noise. The story is engaging but didn't completely hook me, much like the video game, because it's derivative of "I am Legend".
I got more of a Combine vibe from Half Life. Especially during their announcements.

That's the thing, there are a lot of them, but very few of them don't suck, so we need more attempts to get it right
Listening to BBC World at One radio the critics are raving ( mad ) about it. well the best show would be one maybe one eps of 30 minutes in which we see they all die and leave the planet to the rats and other vermin. End scene a racoon strolling down the street. call the one eps show "None Left". Would suit Netflix as they have nothing to renew The only fall-of-civilisation show I have ever liked was Dark Angel with Jessica Alba from 2000 - thats 22 years ago and better than the lot of the modern stuff

This real life story ( and video ) is why the US of A is obsessed with this type of thing? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl … -DEAD.html who needs fiction when you can see it in real life? down town

To me this show was more engaging than others i have seen, because it set up a story with purpose. Not only gruesome violence and horror and nothingness. Give the pilot a try if you did not even watch it, it made me want to see the next episode atleast. Sure, it can still turn shitty and boring later but first one was engaging, in my opinion.

Imo these two set the bar and the rest for 20 years are trying (increasingly more pathetic [1] [2]) to reach it: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120804/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0480249/ So, in this one are gathered acting superstars and expectations are high Tho I personally would watch any garbage in this genre, since I find interesting the premise itself.

Came close to tapping out in the middle of ep 2. Just upped the speed to 2.5x instead but it's on shaky ground with me now.

Oh? I really enjoyed 1x2. Loved all the post-apocalypse scenery: looked great from up close, and the CGI backgrounds were also done professionally.

I was just a bit bored, it wasn't bad or anything. There's no amount/quality of scenery that'll interest me. That's also true irl
