Re: His Dark Materials (Adventure, Fantasy, Drama, Family)

well finished all 8 eps and ok execpt "Megatron" thats from "The Transformers" or should be. and eps 8 all endless weepy stuff.

Spoiler

I just dont believe they had to be. separated. Emotional manipulation by the auithor. if one portal is ok why not 2? Just keep 2 portals open.......or since it is the angels who are closing the portals why the need to break the knife at all.....so a poor ending. The author was averse to a happy ending so he gave us a crappy ending

I'm at a loss as to why this show got so much hype, it's simply Hot Garbage in my opinion..

Maybe it's just the atheist in me..

I loved the books, the show brings that alive.

I think without reading the books i would probably not enjoy the show either.

I didn't read the books, I'm not into religion, and I enjoy the show!

Monstaah, pyrron: maybe the show just isn't for you. Not everyone can appreciate the same things, even if it's well done (like this show). No big deal, just move on to a different show. smile

His Dark Materials season 3 is expected to arrive on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK in Autumn 2022.

I have also just read that this is the last season

https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/fantasy/h … cast-plot/

There are only three books in the His Dark Materials - Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. They have covered the first two books in the first two seasons respectively, hence it makes sense that there will be only three seasons.

Also,  Phillip Pullman (the author) has recently released two new books in the His Dark Materials universe, which are part of The Book of Dust trilogy. Book one - La Belle Savauge which takes place when Lyra is a baby, The second book, The Secret Commonwealth takes place

Spoiler

when Lyra is an adult of about 20 (so after the His Dark Materials events)

, and the The third book hasn't yet been written.

All this to say that even though the show is ending after season three, it might not be the last time we see Phillip Pullmans work on the small screen.

I also recommend reading the books if you haven't already. I loved them.

if you have a money spinner, why stop

I enjoyed the first 2 seasons but I  think season 3 fell apart because the book it is based on was badly ended, the author just didnt know how to end it in a satisfactory way that was not banal. At the end of season 3 we are told that lyra and her boy friend went on to live fulfilling lives inspite of never seeing one another again. I dont think so: sitting on opposite sides of a bench is hardly living a fullfilling life? is psychologically simple minded

I wonder if he will fix this error in the third book of The Book of Dust trilogy. I reckon its highly unlikely though because if I remember correctly she is

Spoiler

in love with Malcolm (or he is in love with her - can't remember)

3x8. Well, that was the season and show finale... Too melodramatic for my taste, but a finale I can live with. smile

I didn't mind the "bench nonsense"... wink

Spoiler

...but the "We just fell in love and now can NEVER see each other again!" part of the story was overdramatized IMHO. cool

There was a lot happening in that regard aside from the bench, that's what I meant.

Re: His Dark Materials (Adventure, Fantasy, Drama, Family)

Hi!
Is this the show with Serafina in?
I heard a rumour that she casts spells in the Lithuanian language. Does anyone have any more info on this or knows where I can find out, please?
Sorry but I haven't read the books and haven't watched the program. Yeah, a heathen, I know!
Cheers!
