Well, not surprised, the story is just Pocahontas in space....part 2, you go see this for the spectacle...it gives a reason to watch 3D IMAX again.

This review by Don Kaye is exactly what I expect: "The Way of Water is a bloated, often boring mess of a movie that's nestled inside some of the most amazing visual effects work ever put on the screen." https://www.denofgeek.com/movies/avatar … er-review/

I really enjoyed the first movie, the 3D effects were amazing and i dont know if another movie actually surpassed it since 2009, which is sad and impressive at the same time. Gonna watch it definitely in the cinema because at home without 3D it will lose quite a lot of its appeal.

Re: Avatar: The Way of Water [Another Big Budget James Cameron Film]
Seems Avatar 2 is already successful enough with 1.7 billion global earnings for Cameron to make more Avatar movies. I'm glad it gets more movies, even tho i wasnt as happy with part 2 as i was with Avatar 1, which i really enjoyed from start to finish, part 2 had its ups and downs, imo but was still a nice movie. edit: The dynamic HFR 3D was alright but HFRin general, is a bit too distracting for me and i can live without it.

I loved the first Avatar movie. This one was still good, but didn't come close.

Re: Avatar: The Way of Water [Another Big Budget James Cameron Film]
well I have only watched the first 20 minutes so lots to go but it seems the die has been cast? A rather stupid sequel. If the humans came back they would use a virus to wipe out the large blue people. But I suppose that would make for a rather short film.... How are they going to make it into New Earth, unless they are all going to become large blue people. I lose interest in films where the basic premise is false. This is just a $$$ machine, aint getting my £££. A film to watch while I am doing some thing else, can only watch so much oh-&-ah visuals, not 3 hrs of them. Cameron going down in my estimation. started to fast forward after an hour. bored

I'll stick with my mentality with these movies are worth the watch for the visuals. Not much excellent going on in terms of plot. I would have hoped that they're doing something interesting with the lore, but it is too enigmatic and kinda shallow.

The first one was shallow, a copy/paste of dancing with wolves but with blue monkeys and some CGI. This one needs to be burned.

There is 5 avatar movies planned, two is now done, 3 more to go. Of course this doesn't mean that they will be made, each one probably has to make a profit etc but it seems that they will just off the top of my head.

Calling human-like beings who are not white "monkeys"... Interesting. Trump Calls Manhattan DA an ‘Animal’ Working for ‘Lunatics’ https://www.thedailybeast.com/trump-cal … r-lunatics In reference to ‘animals,’ Trump evokes an ugly history of dehumanization https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the … mparisons/ Referring to marginalized groups as subhuman has been a way dictators have justified the abuse of those groups. This happened with the Jewish people during the Holocaust. It happen with the Tutsis during the Rwandan genocide. And it is happening with the Rohingya people in Burma.

Re: Avatar: The Way of Water [Another Big Budget James Cameron Film]
so were they white calling them white monkeys is ok? I think here Kanga is decrying Cameron with his so called aliens who are really humans in blue monkey suits with tails, thats as far as different they get to us, whereas real aliens not like us at all in our thoughts would be more interesting. Why these films are crap, apart from the visuals. Star Trek makes this mistake also. The Klingons are just brute humans. The Vulcans just repressed humans.....

Re: Avatar: The Way of Water [Another Big Budget James Cameron Film]
@Lighton, talk about escalating! Clear misrepresentation of Kanga. The Na'vi are blue monkey like in appearance, also fictional, what's discriminatory is implying Kanga's now lumped in with actual racists for calling a fictional creature that looks like a blue monkey a blue monkey, as though the intention was dehumanization and hate speech (which doesn't apply to fictional creatures), when he clearly hates the story and not indigenous tribes. If anything, James Cameron is more guilty of perpetuating false narratives of and between indigenous tribes and white people, than anyone here, by creating the characters and setting up the allegory in the first place (also plagiarism, as 'Pocahontas' and 'Dances with Wolves' are great examples). There is some controversy out there, see the links below: https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyl … ar-2-navi/ https://www.newsweek.com/avatar-faces-c … sm-1768217
