Um, everyone?! Have you not seen Louis Theroux shows? This show, while great, is very slow. S1 could have been condensed into half the episodes with nothing lost.

lolz, I didn't, and Justin doesn't even pronounce it that way, and also no, I've never heard of Louis Theroooo. Wizard wrote:This show, while great, is very slow. S1 could have been condensed into half the episodes with nothing lost.
Yes, agreed, that was my point throughout Page 1 of this forum, painstaking pacing, especially 103, to reiterate: "like showing a full 120 minutes of Sam and Frodo walking through the dead marshes". Episodes 106 and 107 were great though. I'm looking forward to the backstory reveal this season.

Looks good! They gave away a bit too much for my taste though. paisley1 wrote:Wizard wrote:paisley1 wrote:Who knew it was pronounced Therooooo?

Damn, how did you get this old without knowing Louis Theroux? Check out this classic: Shootings and snitchings in Philadelphia - Louis Theroux - Killadelphia - BBC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFhWpTKvD8E He also did lots of funnier stuff, but that would be even more off-topic.

Re: The Mosquito Coast [Drama, Action, Adventure]
201 thoroughly checked off every backstory detail I wanted to know, really well done. +1 The only thing they didn't unpack was....
▼Spoiler ....it's a serious spoiler, so clicker beware...
▼Spoiler ...How Margot came to be a terrorist, and some detail about the kids. Are the kids gmo's? She blew up a biotech lab, I'm thinking there's a connection, but who knows.

Imo, they unpacked it ▼Spoiler they told that she was a carrier nutjob activist, so a natural evolution to blowing up some labs. Also, imo, there was nothing said about what kind of GMO it was, so no point to think it's even human related. Nutjobs fight all kinds of "evil" GMO's, even tho our food chain depends on it Overall a good episode, this show would be way better if these series would start with it, instead of ooh aaah we have a big secret.

I admit, waiting till season 2 is a long time, but letting the viewer wait a bit adds mystery. https://next-episode.net/the-peripheral did it better, revealing more and more each episode - and in the first season.

That first season was like random paranoid people reacting to something, you could not even understand if that guy is rational or he lost it years ago and is running from imaginary friends, this episode finally gave some structure to this show.

You mean that bucket? They just cleaned the water filter (through which the water that's needed for cooling is sucked in), there was no oil. But it looked nasty.

Have you ever seen these old boat engines? There definitely is oil I have one friend who owns similar old school, they use Fairy to drown oil spots near the boat to avoid fines It's kinda a water filter (water for cooling is pumped right from the river and goes through the engine and out on the side) - and that catches also oil leakages from the engine, and they all leak, that's why that bucket had that nice black color. Not to mention that engine is not Euro 6 compliant to virtue signal

▼Spoiler Why didn't they take ALL the medicine? Oh look the one specific thing that we need right now, but we'll leave the rest here Yet another episode that could have been half the length.

Because it was established till now that they are not the brightest stars in the sky even close. Like the guy ▼Spoiler who thought it's an electrical fence, touched it with both hands Also why not take the map that was on the wall? Also when the girl said "dad, I think I did it", she obviously did not, since the light still shined through that hole in the boat

Ah, okay, maybe you're right then. Also: you know some interesting people. g371 wrote:▼Spoiler they are not the brightest stars in the sky even close. Like the guy who thought it's an electrical fence, touched it with both hands
I guess it wasn't obvious enough what he did with that blade of grass before he used both hands:

Maybe grass was too dry, he had to test it with both hands to make sure

Re: The Mosquito Coast [Drama, Action, Adventure]
Everyone said what I was gonna say about 202, the only thing you guys missed was... ▼Spoiler ...as if the mom and son would have a long overdue heart to heart about the son's feelings after killing that guy last season/two days ago while exhausted trudging through the jungle to get their dying dad medication from an abandoned oil rig, also, how convenient it's abandoned and full of drugs, also, how did they not lose their way through the forest and not get lost, also also, why didn't they take ALL THE MEDICINE AND FOOD THEY COULD CARRY, WIZARD? WHY? So stupid. I guess they like fresh fish and diy medication. Also, to patch the boat I would've looked for some rubber to create a seal around that board, any sealant really, and also used two bolts through the board with vertical shims instead of a tie down that could come loose at any moment. ...that said, I actually really enjoyed episode 202.

▼Spoiler I wasn't concerned about the roof (didn't look like it was wooden), but because of the reason you mentioned about the efficiency... And to scuttle the ship when you need to live in that commune (while potentially poisoning a vital food source in the process)? Smart?

▼Spoiler Actually efficiency would be just fine, it would work - of course not what he made, it's a load of bs, but general principle is fine - like for example to get a hot water, this would absolutely work. Regarding his magical engine - also doable, but not how they showed and doubt that they could in any case from some 100 l cooking oil battery run thousands of W light panels for a soccer field Also in that design one major logic flaw is that he would need to solve the circulation in these pipes, by default in solar collectors of course that is done with an electric pump - but they don't have electricity Of course can ghetto that as well. Without the circulation all that would simply blow up once would got hot enough (that's also a classic issue of modern solar collectors).

203, good grief, I'd have preferred they.... ▼Spoiler ...escaped from the compound and were on the run from the government again, instead, Allie lost his god damn mind and blew up the boat! Now they need to get away from Allie too. Isela's gonna sell them out, probably at the top of the next episode anyway. Some really nice filming though.

S02E04 ▼Spoiler So, two guys are sitting in a workshop, one tells that there is a trail camera nailed to the tree. They decide to go to check out. Arrive to the destination, wow, really nailed to the tree. If only they could have an access to some tools, like a workshop or something. Ok, so they sit near that camera, which is recording, and speak on the record how the owner of the camera won't imagine to connect the dots. Tho compared to throwing rocks at armed poachers in a jungle, that's nothing.

loled in the middle of S02E05, when ▼Spoiler Margot together with daughter went to look for Allie, was approached by the armed guard and told in French: "Excuse me. I wasn't thinking.". It's kinda your thing, darling, it's kinda your thing.
