I'd say the show was overall fine. But is nobody gonna mention the way the guy talks? Like a poor imitation of how he seems to think an edgy 90s movie protagonist should talk, which would already be bad enough if done well. Took me forever to get used to.

But the comic was first published in 1989, and that's kind of how he talks in it.

2020.  Meh.

The words, yeah. Those are fine. But the voice? Weird half-mumbled pseudo-introspective tone?

It doesn't bother me at all, I think it fits his character.

Wow, wow, WOW! I just watched 1x6 The Sound of Her Wings. I didn't expect this. Sooo good! <3

No surprise: it's got the highest rating of all 11 episodes.

Yep, and strangely enough it's my favourite of all the comics too.  Great stuff - moving, powerful and just bloody great.

Hmmm.  They've so changed so much from the books.  So much.

Are you referring to the bonus episodes or the original ten?.

Because apart from the look of the characters and a bit of wokeness, the script was very much copy paste from the words in the comic.
Entire episodes were word for word from the comics.

For example, his meeting with death/his sister or the scene at the bar. Even much of the hotel was from the comics. Yes, they modified or removed some parts, but that’s any tv show for you.

I've only watched the first 5, and I actually had my Absolute edition on my lap, which I was flicking through as I was watching.  If you're saying the script followed the comics word for word, I must have different comics.

You must have been watching a different show been reading a different comic.

Take this example as a tiny sample:

Same. Loved it. Brilliant.

And almost copy paste word for word from
The comics.

Watch "24/7", as an example.  Quite different.

Yes, this episode was quite different. But the series as a whole was very good and very close (almost word for word) to the comics

I thought that was Cain and Abel.

Also, you guys got me excited about Season 02 for a moment there!

Re: The Sandman [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

... can't remember the detectives being in The Sandman (which i REALLY like and watched 3 times smile) or are they?

But there were "Dead Boy Detectives" in Doom Patrol S03E03 13:45++ :-) - liked them, but they changed the cast, hopefully they're still good...
Look forward to test the show - but since its "DC", i don't expect too much (because imo many/most of all DC-Movies and series are crap and ultracrap - and so little are good and better ones) yikes big_smile yikes

Call me old school and misogynistic,  but shouldn't we (heavens forefend!) wait and see if he is convicted or even charged before we pound the burning stake into the ground and start  collecting kindling?

What world do you live in?

The way it is supposed to work and the way it really works are totally ass backwards. The slightest accusation and you are history. Thats the culture of today.

I live in a fantasy world where people are innocent until proven guilty and we don't pick our friends based on who they voted for in the last election.

I prefer your world as well. But I am a realist.

Re: The Sandman [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror]

Isn't it a bit early to act like he has been cancelled already?

Although I have to say that at best it seems like he's a creepy middle aged man. The business with the nanny (who he probably employs) doesn't reflect well.

It's pretty understandable for people and companies not want to associate with people who do these sorts of things. I just wish there wasn't a double standard for people who that but have enough power/money and this sort of stuff needs to be put out in the media before any reactions happen.
