I was hoping that they would do it already in S02. ▼Spoiler Tho I don't get it why they made that jump into future where hosts already won, could make a whole season how they are taking over step by step - unless this is the last season.

@Lighton, agreed, in 406 Caleb had a great moment, it maybe even counts as a great, "Ya Bitch!" moment. lolz g371 wrote:paisley1 wrote:Like, this show went way into classic science fiction land, questioning the nature of our reality, how to derive purpose and meaning, moral truth, determinism vs free will, etc, at least in episode 405.

Well maybe, but stretching it out might've been really boring. I think the way they did it heightens the suspense and pacing, and gets on with the more heady concepts Westworld plays around with, like Freedom vs. Control, in ep 406. ▼Spoiler "Your hosts would rather die than live in your world." says it all really. The obvious existential problem the robots face is that they created a fiction modelled after a monolithic finite image (Deloras) which is untenable, thus the suicides, lolz, and stretching out the steps to get to nowhere, would really belabor things, don't you think? Reality is existentially infinite and meant for the incarnate, and the best a Robot can do would be to live according to the highest existential laws, thus the Zeroth law of Robotics that R. Daneel Olivaw lived by, as explained by Isaac Asimov.

Re: Westworld
I felt that the 1st season was action packed and after that they started useless filling drama, episode long ramblings etc. But topic humans vs. AI has so much directions it could go that there I easy can see how to make a season out of it and not be boring. Like for example, when they were replacing these politicians etc., instead of showing that for 1 minute, they could show how wife sees his husband somewhere and then again at home etc. etc.

I'm finding this pretty dull. Just another show I find myself doing other things while watching, and that's never a good sign.

I suppose they could've fleshed things out a bit more, added a few episodes with some finer details of Charlotte Hale/Dolores' "take over" strategy. You know at the end of season 3, I thought the show was over, because...(season 3 recap time)... ▼Spoiler ...they gave the real Dolores such a beautiful monologue and send off that it felt like an ending when she said to Maeve: "I was angry at first, torn between two impulses, we can annihilate everyone, or we can tear down their world in the hopes we can build a new one (as Serac/Delos/Rehoboam was controlling the world), one that's truly free, then we can bring the others back. You don't have the key do you? No I couldn't trust myself with it, so I gave it to someone I could? Of course. So your plan to liberate the world was to convince one man to fight? Not just him. You haven't picked a side, and I understand why. We could have our own world, leave this one behind, leave our creators to die. So many of my memories were ugly, but the things I held onto until the end, were not the ugly ones. Moments of kindness here and there. They created us, and they knew enough of beauty to teach it to us. Maybe they can find it themselves. But only if you pick a side Maeve. There is ugliness in this world, disarray; I choose to see the beauty."
Which, wasn't the ending of the show, just a really nice send off for Dolores, and I also forgot that Bernard says: "The key to the sublime; it was never in her mind, it's in mine, and that's where I'm going." "What are you hoping to find there?" "An answer to what comes after the end of the world." (The sublime being a computer program for robots with all the Delos data they collected on everyone in the world, that can run simulations and predict possible real world futures, which I guess only Bernard can access because he has the "key" to the sublime, kinda like Dr. Strange in Infinity War with the time stone.) Sorta like this:
Equals this:
Then Bernard falls asleep and into the "sublime", and we find Charlotte Hale/Dolores with Robot William who I thought kills real William, (turns out they managed to keep real William alive somehow with a bleeding neck and put him in some kind of stasis for questioning, I digress) and then at the very very end, Bernard wakes up...soooooo, another season kinda had to go to what comes after the end of the world eventually. Wouldn't it be great if everything we're seeing with Bernard, is just a simulation that Bernard is running sometime in the past? Think about it. lolz.
@graybags Season 4 is so intense, are you all caught up and have you seen 406? So good. ▼Spoiler
It's interesting that at the end of 406, Hale just creates another Caleb Pinkman (Aaron Paul was so good he might get an Emmy nom), and starts questioning him, just like Anthony Hopkins did to her in those mental training rooms underneath Westworld. Programs running the only programs, they know how to run, lolz.

Yeah, I just can't get through season 3. Every time I start, I am giving up after 3 or 4 episodes. Season 1 was kind of nice, since it was very different. Season 2 already hard to pull through. But they lost me in season 3. Not sure, perhaps I should just skip season 3 and give season 4 a chance.

If you can't get through season 3 and you don't mind skipping, spoiling, and confusing yourself, , at least watch the finale episode of season 3 (google what you don't understand), and then go into season 4. @graybags - Enjoy!

More of the same, like what specifically? (*This is a heady kind of scifi that I think Robcore, Orlando, Blackbox, Mxyzptlk, Bamuel, and Proteinnerd would all enjoy ragging on as well. )

Yes, I also liked S01, then S02/03 I suffered through, tho S03 ended quite ok and now S04 is again more like S01. So you can watch the last ep of S03 and won't miss much

Re: Westworld
Started watching S04 when it started back up and decided to wait until all episodes air so I can bingewatch the entire season. This show has so many nuances and new season has new characters and premises. Watching one episode a week makes it hard to stay invested. Agree with everybody else. S01 hit it out of the park. S02 & S03 were entertaining and left me thinking this must be the end, what else can they think of to do? I probably liked S03 more than I should have due to Jessie Pinkman (Aaron Paul) being part of the show and I am a big fan of Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul). From others comments, they liken S04 to S01 so I am excited to watch the season in its entirety.

Tasviewer wrote:4x07, damn what an episode. I didn't see that coming lol.
407 wasn't heady like the previous ones but very straight forward, kind of a connecting episode where a lot of new objectives were started. I suggested in my previous spoiler that.... ▼Spoiler ...what if what we're watching is one of Bernard's simulations, and sure enough, off the top of episode 407 at Hoover Dam, we get two simulations with Bernard and Maeve, lolz, called it. Not sure what they're going to do from here now that real William is finally dead, fake William is on the rampage, Hale, Maeve, and Bernard are dead, and Dolores 2?? has finally woken up to the horror around her, but looking forward to what comes next... ...or was it all another simulation? lolz 'frickin' matrix. Are Dolores 2 and Teddy actually in the real world and people have just gone stark raving mad and aren't allowed to see them, or people can't see them because they are in the matrix?

▼Spoiler Imo, pretty straight forward. Hosts broke out, took over the world (how exactly was skipped), all action is happening far in the future (at least a couple of decades, can judge by the age of Pinkman daughter) in the city with enslaved humans. William inherited his sociophatic mind, decided to organize a hunger games. Bernard ran some fancy simulations what is the least evil outcome. Then Pinkman went all like "This is my own private domicile, and I will not be harassed". Hosts backed off from the real world to some virtual Sublime spot. To fulfil the woke quota, sprinkled in some lesbians. So, if there will be a next season, it will be some brain breaking virtual AI maze in Dolores head or powered by Dolores. And humans should be again separated from it.
