The town of Clearfield, MD has long stood in the shadow of three seemingly unrelated behemoths - the Umbrella Corporation, the decommissioned Greenwood Asylum, and Washington, D.C. Today, twenty-six years after the discovery of the T-Virus, secrets held by the three will start to be revealed at the first signs of outbreak.

I love seeing that Lance Reddick is part of the show! I hope Netflix gave it a big enough budget. smile

Again netflix trash adoption, but the trailer looks promising, some good Helix vibes

Re: Resident Evil [Action, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Horror]

Yeah, 12 min of first ep and already is checking cringe boxes, will see if will be able to get to the end of the episode.

Agreed... trash!

Re: Resident Evil [Action, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Horror]

I wasn't going to watchlist it but saw Lance Reddick so gave it a chance. Think i'm done after 1 ep.
Can't believe anyone thought it was a good idea to have characters with numbers tattooed on their forearms called 'survivors', much less that it got on air past all the people involved in production and the network people. If there's a permanent 'too soon' list somewhere I'd think that'd be #1.

Re: Resident Evil [Action, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Horror]

Another show ruined by the idea that it needs to pander to teens by making it all about trivial everyday drama instead of the cool stuff the universe already has to offer.

Yeah, I would have preferred 80% less teen drama, but I still liked 1x1. Will keep watching - hopefully less teen drama in future episodes. smile

I know history, but I didn't think in that direction because the circumstances are totally different.

Well yeah, but you'd think they could've selected literally any other spot for a tattoo and literally anything else to call them big_smile

Re: Resident Evil [Action, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Horror]

They should have kept the working title Venus Flytrap which suit it and it's imdb 3.4 rating way better. This garbage has nothing to do with Resident Evil which was a masterpiece of the time and largely kickstarted all zombies genre since 2002. But this is a pathetic vomit. In exact same way was dishonored The Equalizer.

From the original Resident Evil I till this day remember lasers cutting people in pieces, infected dogs and "you all are going to die down here", it was a wow movie back then. That movie was sprinkling testosterone, but here "meat is murder", lol big_smile

Re: Resident Evil [Action, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Horror]

I am not a huge RE fanboy, so didn’t care too much about the authenticity of the world or if the story makes sense in terms of the canon.

What drove me faaaar away was: I expected a thrilling, exciting zombie-invested action series for adults. And I got a identity-politics infested teen drama with cheesy CGI.

Oh sweetie.. if you think that’s the origin and original RE I have some news for you..

Re: Resident Evil [Action, Thriller, Sci-Fi, Horror]

Where are all the people on this forum that always complain about the ethnicity and/or gender of the baddie? They usually show up as soon as the show airs, but nothing for this show.. I wonder why that is..?

Probably because "they" knew it was going to be trash and didn't bother watching...looks like "they" were right.

Considering how many shows and episodes of those shows they do watch when they complain about them, I have a hard time believing none of them watched even the first episode.

When I complain about a show it's only because I have high expectations from the shows I watch, I don't waste my time watching a show I know will be crap just to complain about it, "ain't nobody got time for that" lol.

Sweetie, check the stats how many zombie shows/movies and at what frequency are since Resident Evil (2002).

I'm fully aware what was before that. It was at best a very narrow, trashy horror movies lovers genre, since then it went mainstream. And because it was not garbage like this one big_smile

"they" are all over the internet, imdb reviews trashed, first memes mocking this shitshow I saw 2 hours after I suffered through 15 min of the first ep, all variations, including the Netflix adaptation classic meme, where even grass becomes black and diversified for some reason smile And the most criticized I saw Lance Reddick casting choice, even one black guy was bitching about it big_smile

Plus "they" can have whatever opinion they want, you are not the thought police, sweetie.

Im a pretty big fan of the franchise, played RE1 on release and most but not games all since. I saw virtually all the Mila Jovovich RE movies in the cinema.

I did not bother watching this, it was blatantly obvious this was not about creating an entertaining series that respects the legacy franchise but it was all about pushing "the message."

Sure didn’t seem like it from your post.. It’s ok, we can’t know everything..

I really got to you with that sweetie word, didn’t I? big_smile

I never said they can’t have their opinion. You don’t need to get all defensive. All I asked where all the folks were with their opinions. Usully they are immediate and super vocal so the silence was strange.

Also what’s with the quotes around the word they? Is this some internet thing I don’t know about? I used they to refer to some of the users here who usually complain about these issues, but the way ya’ll have been using the quotes, it feels like you have a different meaning. Or do you guys use it for all racists and the like around the web in general?

Again with the quotes.. What is that?

What is ”the message”?
