Re: Stranger Things

Ratings Results of Interest: While Netflix does not usually release its viewership numbers, when it has the opportunity to brag it certainly takes it. And the streaming service did just that when it revealed on Twitter that the third season of Stranger Things has set viewership records and has been watched by more than 40.7 million household accounts in the first four days following its July 4th premiere. That sets it above any other series or movie on that service, and Netflix also noted that over eighteen million had already watched the entire third season. That streamer has had a tendency to end its shows after three seasons, but Stranger Things will almost certainly stick around longer than that. Each season have become an event and the show likely still draws new subscribers to the service, so expect at least a fourth year from this one if not more. The series creators previously indicated that they envisioned wrapping up the show around its fourth or fifth season.

4. Why was that big Russian walking around trying to look like the Terminator?

Because Stranger things is all about the 80s and Terminator was released in the 80s, so we need a reference to that iconic thing somewhere.
Same goes with the theme song from the movie "neverending story" which was also from the 80s, as was Back to the future and so on and so forth and what not, are you still reading, oh ok then i guess i stop. smile

‘Stranger Things’ Renewed For Season 4 By Netflix As Creators The Duffer Brothers Ink Mega Overall Deal

Netflix is setting another trip to the Upside Down, renewing its flagship series Stranger Things for a fourth season and signing series creators and showrunners The Duffer Brothers to a big multi-year film and series overall deal.

No terms are being disclosed but industry sources estimate that, given the enormous global success of Stranger Things, the deal with the Duffer Brothers would be comparable to the five-year, nine-figure overall pact Netflix recently signed with Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Re: Stranger Things

No opinions on season 04 yet? I kind of liked it... slowly, the theme gets old... but in general nothing to complain about and a again very strong season. Hope they wrap it up nicely with the final episodes...

Spoiler

... and I'm not a huge fan of the 011 story arc this season, but yeah... kind of makes sense in ep07... and the idea to let her assault the obnoxious b**** to get her locked up and then transported away, was kind of nicely build up over the first half of the season.. But I absolutely HATED the "let's visit Suzie"-scenes... I mean... that was just too on the nose weird.

Re: Stranger Things

I'm liking it through the 3 eps i've watched. Idk what they were thinking with the lengths and the split though. 7 long eps (ep 7 is longer than some movies), then a month, then 2 eps is just weird, especially for a show folks love to marathon.

Well, there's this, and this... Either way, I'll be waiting close to the release of 408 and 409 before watching.

Re: Stranger Things

Episode 4 (Dear Billy) was the standout episode for me, the back story, the cameo and Sadie Sink really acting her heart out. Kinda guessed the big reveal in episode 7, but looking forward to the final two in July. Hope they do the storyline justice.

Re: Stranger Things

Yeah, Max rocks.... she's definitely grown on me and in my opinion one of the real strong characters by now.

Re: Stranger Things

Season 4, I could not get into.  I stopped watching episode 404 I think, but gahhhhh, what drudgery.  Season 3 was great, but this season I just don't care what happens to them, it's like watching Degrassi.  Now I'm just hoping they all die, roll credits, thee end. lol

Weird, I'm really enjoying this season.  Well, the half of that has aired so far.

2020.  Meh.

Re: Stranger Things

I liked it at my speed but the episodes were way too long. Can't imagine someone used to marathoning the seasons being as engaged as usual.
Side note I saw a googlestion this week saying that "Running Up That Hill" had hit #8 on the US charts, which is quite a bit higher than it ever was when it was a single. Glad to see Kate Bush is getting some well-deserved royalties big_smile

That's odd, part way through ep 4 is exactly where I gave up on the whole thing too. Took about 3 goes trying to sit through the episode before I realised I'm just sitting through this like it's a chore.

Maybe will tune in for the finale when presumably 11 will have her powers back and will go full Carrie-mode again.

Re: Stranger Things

Finished s4. Feels like a weaker season but I'm not sure that's not just the episode lengths. It really is a different experience. In the finale when "Two Days Later" pops up it feels like a gross underestimation.

Re: Stranger Things

As seems the case with each season, it took a long time [perhaps too long] to get there but the result was an interesting (over all) story. I'm rather excited to see how it all wraps up.

I really enjoyed it.  Bring on season 5.

Re: Stranger Things

I think that they're milking it too long. I was disappointed when the primary antagonist wasn't defeated at the end of season 4 - the whole season watched like a prequel to season 5 and felt like a waste of > 10 hours of my time.
Sunken cost fallacy means I'll probably watch season 5 but I could take it or leave it at this point.

Edit: To be clear I was a big fan of seasons 1 and 2 but think that it's being dragged out too much now.

Re: Stranger Things

Saw an interview with the brothers saying they expected S5 to have shorter episodes but another long movie finale. Then again they also said they didn't go into S4 intending to have the episodes that long.
