I don't think the writers have done Doctor Who any favours for years now. 2020. Meh.
Re: The 13th Doctor...Her episodes felt completely different from Capaldi's, and not in the good way. I get the actor wanting to take ownership of the performance but the show in whole felt like it had greatly regressed in quality. Re: The 13th Doctor...imadsani wrote:
Agreed, I feel quite sorry for the actors Chibnall, the current show runner, has improved slightly over his run, but from such a low starting point he a) couldn't really get worse and b) would need years to get to even mediocre. The man just has no idea how to put together an entertaining story. Ever since he took over the episodes have been characterised by endless, pointless chases that do nothing to progress the storyline, interspersed by endless exposition where one character has to explain to the other characters (and the audience) what the story actually is. It's bizarre, and very bad TV. Re: The 13th Doctor...I was kind of hopeful that with the first female Doctor, the writing would be better. Instead (in my opinion), this may be one of the worse Doctor Who characters, and unfortunately, I'm sure it will be blamed on making the Doctor a woman. The best thing they could possibly do (if he would take the part), is to ask David Tennant to return as the Doctor, along with better Sci-Fi writers. I'd really love to see Sting give Dr. Who a shot! I wouldn't mind Matt Smith or Capaldi either 32 2021-12-07 08:56:45 (edited by TheFizza 2021-12-14 04:15:09)Re: The 13th Doctor...I made it to the END! Woohoo... now allons-y, time for 13th to leave and the 14th to appear! While I only became a fan of The Doctor after the revival I did go back to watch most of the Doctor's stories [the Patrick Troughton years are the absolute best, incidentally] finding many great stories and some not so great. With that perspective in mind, overall I didn't much care for the 13th Doctor's Years. I thought the performance was great and her companions were pretty decent but these stories where probably the worst in all the 60 years of the Doctor, and I'm counting the 6th Doctor's [Colin Baker] Years! The episodes of 13 feel more like rejected scrips from Star Trek TOS during the first portion of the run and now has become some kind of El ministerio del tiempo or Valerian & Laureline (not the movie) with Time Agents and Secrets Histories or Time Covert Ops... All of which are fine stories and there's plenty of room for those stories to be told in the genre but are not the type of story I (and I dare say many) watch the Doctor & Co. for. If they had all these ideas for a different world with a different status quo then why not make a different show, or a spin-off? That being said, I've never really been all that interested in the Doctor's history... I'm of the opinion the more mystery with a character like the Doctor the better... I don't want to look behind the curtain, I just want the magic! As a result I am very-very happy to see the end of the creative team on this show and I hope they burn in hell... or something sufficiently appropriate for the crime of making a global icon boring. That being as it is, I am sad to never have actually really enjoyed a 13th Doctor story the way I have many other incarnations but mayhaps they'll be some good audio adventures or even another one of those Doctor reunions where she can really shine. Yep, end of the year 2020. Meh.
Re: The 13th Doctor...Darleks again? how many times did Who kill them off? it is becoming beyond a joke. ( coming from some one who remember the early Dr Who though the scenery was more like theatre than film, the stories were imaginative and some times funny) I stopped watching yonks ago Re: The 13th Doctor...But these will be time-travelling Daleks so it doesn't count right? I didn't even know this crap was still running until TheFizza restarted this topic - I blame them! DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom".

That's the thing, at least for me too, they can cast all the charming Doctors they want (and I did find Jodie charming) but if the stories aren't there... well then, what's the point of it all Posts: 26 to 45 of 45Forums - Next Episode → Doctor Who → The 13th Doctor... |
