https://next-episode.net/obi-wan-kenobi

The series begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where Obi-Wan faced his greatest defeat, the downfall, and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

Tatooine - a harsh desert world where farmers toil in the heat of two suns while trying to protect themselves and their loved ones from the marauding Tusken Raiders. A backwater planet on the edge of civilized space. And an unlikely place to find a Jedi Master in hiding, or an orphaned infant boy on whose tiny shoulders rests the future of a galaxy.

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Looks amazeballs!  LIMITED SERIES ONLY???  BOOO!!!  I'd want a full 6 seasons of Obi-wan. wink  There's so much to explore there.  Obi-Wan movie series?

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi

That trailer felt less like a weirdly violent 90:s fantasy/scifi children show procedural than the other two does. I think limited might be a good thing, higher budget and tighter writing perhaps?

Looks good. (And I like the logo animation at the end. cool)

Maybe I was not in the mood, but got bored half way through ep1.

Yeah, I had expected more. Still good, but 1x1 wasn't as great as https://next-episode.net/the-mandalorian - let's hope it'll improve quickly! smile

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Show was decent at my watching speeds but yeah I could see being very bored in ep 1 at normal speed. I am going to need a prequel series to give me backstory on how Needles the bounty hunter came to be headquartered in an Arby's.

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi

So I managed to watch the first two episodes.  It's really not great.

Same, I fell asleep watching it at 8.30pm lol

Thats not a good sign.

I'll finish it off today.....it did "look" great though, the set pieces were amazing

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi

I am glad I am not alone in thinking that this show didn't live up to all the hype. Standard Star Wars fare with good special effects. I had hoped for more. Hopefully e02 will be better than e01.

13

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi

It is a 6 part story so I am hopeful that it'll be good when it is complete. These miniseries are usually not meant to be judged by one or two episodes.

Also it gives new backstories to characters for those who are not die-hard-read-everything-that-you-can -fans who'll debate about what is and what isn't canon.

Well, did ANY of the Star Wars franchise productions of the last few years did? And yes, I hated even the Mandalorian (yes, I know.... quite unpopular opinion...) and the Book of Boba Fett. Actually, even as a grown up man, I mostly enjoyed the animated series.

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Loved the first 2 eps.  So good!  Explains how Leia knew Obi-wan in A New Hope.  Explains what Obi-wan was up to, post Revenge of the Sith.  Loving this!

Just to be clear, I'm not saying Flea is a bad actor, in fact his energy added a creepiness to this story that worked (as it should), it's just that bassists acting careers (like Sting) don't tend to have much range, for some reason.  ...."under the bridge downtowwwwn"...  lolz.  wink

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Alright, took a shoot at Ep1.... mixed feelings. One the one hand, the show is much slower with more time spend on character and less cheesiness of the previous franchise series with some nice visuals

Spoiler

like the ride through to the desert to retrieve the light sabers

and some nice story telling elements

Spoiler

like the repetitive scene slaughterhause-train ride back to the city-feeding the... erm... strange alien camel.

On the other hand, some scenes were just ridiculous silly. Like the

Spoiler

3 grown up males hunt a small girl through a forest and look like the foot-soldier goons from Power Rangers having a hard time making some kind silly of movements to avoid actually catching the girl...

Also, do not really like the big evil

Spoiler

aka The Third Sister/Reva. Really bad acting.... yikes....

But... to sum all up. First Star Wars since the original movies which I kind of like so far. Not awesome, but alright.

Yeah, what kind of animal are they cutting up there? Do hardcore Star Wars fans know it? It's huge and kinda looks out of place in the desert. smile

And why doesn't anyone seem to mind that Obi-Wan takes a portion home every day (when they even cut workers' pay to make more profit)? cool

Yepp, thought the same... Maybe he convinced the "manager" that this isn't the piece of desert-tuna or sand-salmon he is looking for? wink

I liked it.

It's fine if you don't, move on and watch something you do like, don't waste your time in here listing all the reasons it's not for you.  roll

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Yeah I think this one is the best of these spinoff shows yet. But apparantly they are planning like five others as well. smile

I agree, I think Obi-wan is the best of the spinoffs as well, and was looking forward to this story the most.  I'd also like a live action story about Mace Windu with Samuel L. Jackson, destroying an entire droid army by himself, just like the Vintage cartoon. With his famous quote...

"My name is General Mace Windu of the Jedi Order. At this point of the Clone War, I have dismantled and destroyed over 100,000 of you type one battle droids. I'm giving you an opportunity to peacefully lay down your weapons, so that you may be reprogrammed to serve a better purpose than spreading the mindless violence and chaos which you have inflicted upon the galaxy."

Not sure he still has it in him, but man, I'd so love to watch that.

If you want to know what I'm talking about go to Disney+ > Star Wars Vintage: Clone Wars 2D Micro Series > Volume 1 > Timestamp 35:48.  Or this:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cF3ocZu4cZo

I also love the Ewoks as I grew up watching Battle for Endor and Caravan of Courage, and would enjoy more stuff that's geared down for a younger audience, perhaps something Wookie Kashyyyk related....they're fluffy, lolz.

Iden Versio's story is by far my favorite Star Wars story because she's fought on both sides, and Cal Kestis is an interesting character that I'd love to see make an appearance in some capacity.

Rogue One is my favorite of the new movies, so I'm looking forward to Andor.

If anything, they're simply not making enough of these live action series, given the stories in the back catalogue.

Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi

Well it was better than the Kenobi novel (though that wasn't hard to accomplish) and I loved that teaser scene which opened the first episode. IDK if they an keep it up but this was damn fun to watch and also loved that, so far, it's a Ben & Leia story. She's badass!

Hmm.... after ep2 I am already tired of that little princess. All the running around like a crazed toddler. Without these chasing scenes the show would be much better imho.

Btw, a nine year old actress which looks like a five year old girl... is not a great cast for a 10 year old in my opinion.

Hope, she gets dropped off home in the next episode and is never seen again in this season.
