While its still very progressive, at least they aren’t doing the usual thing and belittling every white male character and making them look completely incompetent and/or the villain. So far, to me, this is what “woke” content should look like. Actors from all parts of the world, a good mix of genders etc but blatant identity politics isn’t the focus of the show, the actual story is. Tbh, with Kurtmans record, I wasn’t even going to bother but I gave episode 1 a go and I’m actually guardedly hopeful for the rest of the series.

One point is why he says "To boldly go where no one has gone before", whereas the original was "...where no man has gone before". If they really wanted to keep it before the original, it should have been kept Where does this sit in the timeline of the entire franchise? Before or after ST:Enterprise. Did anyone else think that the space suits they were wearing look a lot like the Discovery ones too?

ah thats the woke part. I would have thought the series was after Enterprise and before orginal Star Trek. One of the crew is Samuel Kirk - is that Kirk's dad? Capt Pike wasnt he the first eps of original S.T already disfigured and left on that illusion planet with that woman who the aliens badly repaired but who never the less looked good due to the illusions of aliens, also now applied to Pike. and the both of them are left there to live out their days ?

Chronological order should be (correct me if I'm wrong somewhere) (disregarding non-permanent time travel): Enterprise ---> "The Cage" (original ST pilot, 1965, Capt. Pike) -> Discovery (earlier seasons) -> Strange New Worlds -> TOS -> The Animated Series -> TOS movies --> TNG -> DS9 -> Voyager -> TNG movies [-> Lower Decks (non-canon IIRC)] --> Picard ----> Discovery (later seasons) (Not sure if Prodigy fits in there.)

Hmmm, well that episode (s01e03) was boring. Too much preachy anti-racism crap. Again. Do they think we can't see through it? Yes, racism is a bad thing. Yes, it's wrong to pre-judge people purely on their race, yes, we shouldn't stereotype people and generalise, blah blah, woke, blah. Yawn.

I bet if you look at the old S.T eps you will find some thing like this before? Why it was boring. My suspicion is this series will not break any new ground. Maybe time to put S.T back in the closet

I miss this format and style of Star Trek and I'm glad it's back. The first two episodes were great, but I thought 103 was the best one so far. I think Hemmer will become my favorite character on this show lol.

Am I the only one to think that christina chong/La'an looks too similar to Cara Gee/Dummer of The Expanse. Not so brutal but a younger sister maybe?

This shows seems to be stealing images and ideas from other shows? viz the expanse and the butch lady? Also eps 4 the idea behind killing the aliens stolen from "Battleship" where radar does not work so they use fluctuations in wave motion from tsunami bouys to work out where the baddies are? nothing new under the sun eh?

I really enjoyed episode 4, definitely the best so far, so they are getting progressively better which is a good sign. The format is what we all enjoyed from TOS and TNG (and even The Orville). The only recent ST show I look forward to watching each week.

1x05 was fine except for the body swap. I am sure almost every TV show has done a body swap episode now. They are not funny and haven't been since the Original Freaky Friday film in 1976. Please stop doing body swaps.
