Topic: What does Set Service do?
When I select the service it marks the service I use to watch the program, but does not seem to do anything else on the website. What am I missing?

Re: What does Set Service do?It's meant to give you the ability to set the services you watch your shows on. It's a feature we had before we added the streaming services availability (which should automatically show you where a series streams in your country). If you turn that off though and set your services - you'll see an icon (HBO, Amazon etc) on each show, as you've set it. Try it out. Re: What does Set Service do?How about letting a user list all the services they have available and then setting all the services for them automatically? e.g. if I have Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBOMax, Apple then automatically mark those shows with the particular service they have. Equally, when a show is on one of those services then it is automatically marked as acquired. If a show is on, say, Netflix then if the user subscribes to Netflix then automatically highlight that service and mark the show as acquired. Then only shows that are not on a service that the user subscribes to are marked as not-acquired. Currently most shows I watch are available on one of my many subscription services, but the Fox and ABC are not (as they don't have the service), so it is very useful to know when I need to acquire those ones elsewhere without having to go through and mark all the other shows that I get automatically. Re: What does Set Service do?One way to do this right now is to Tag your shows and split them into, say, 2 groups: - streaming Then you can filter the Episodes page through these tags and look at only the unaquired, aired episodes. As for the idea to do this automatically, it makes sense, but it's not so simple as there are many regional differences and when you take the country into account, it becomes complicated quickly. So to do this, I need to make a mechanism for the user to pick the services they have and link it to the streaming services availability per country, per episode. Then our episodes and the ones coming from the service that provides the streaming availability need to match. There is a lot of complexity which will come with a ton of future overhead for a niche little feature like that, so don't see it happening ... Re: What does Set Service do?I understand. I already use a variation of your solution. But you are looking at the five star solution that would be perfect, but I am hoping for a very simplistic solution that would work most of the time for most people, that could be expanded over time if people really use it. You already mark all shows with streaming services which is helpful. My suggestion is merely that you add an option for users to select any of those services they subscribe to. Any that match the are then automatically marked as acquired or I was thinking the currently underused service option might help there. There are many enhancements that could be added, but just that would save a lot of time. Most of your users subscribe to at least one such service (e.g. Netflix). Adding this simple solution would give you insight into whether your subscribers do have subscriptions and whether any further effect is worthwhile.
