Every story has a beginning. Witness the untold history of the Continent with The Witcher: Blood Origin, a new prequel series set in an elven world 1200 years before the events of The Witcher. Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time - exploring the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “Conjunction of the Spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one. The Witcher: Blood Origin will release in 2022, only on Netflix.

Lets hope they keep the quality of https://next-episode.net/the-witcher for this show! smile

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

If it's as good as The Witcher I'll love it.

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

I'm hoping this is good but let be honest Cavill makes The Witcher what it is and makes up for its shortcomings...this trailer feels more like Wheel of Time than Witcher, that music was terrible.

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

Since i like Ellie Goulding, i liked the teaser and the song choice.

And again, a diversity festival... sometimes I wonder if they there is contest how many different ethnic groups you can get into one freeze frame.

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

I liked the animated movie, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf... so, fingers crossed!

Yeah, I hear you. They really need to step it up story-wise if this is going to hold up.

Come on man, I see where you are coming from, but give it a shot first, the trailer is not enough I think . Its all about the story IMHO. smile

Story is one thing, but what drives the best series is characters, good casted actors with great character building. A good story is nice, but if chars behave like planks it's still garbage.

Yeah I agree totally. It was late when I posted and cut it short. Ofcourse its not ALL about the story.

However; If I HAD to choose between a movie with terrible actors & a great story or one with great actors & a terrible story - I'd most likely not choose the latter smile

My comment was regarding the "diversity festival" and now...in hindsight I would like to retract my statement after reading up a bit on the Witcher Universe. It was uneducated of me I see now (I have not read any books nor played any games in the series).

I will still give the series a go since Im not a hardcore fan and watching it without having read any books or played any games I couldnt really care less if the chars are black, blue or green. smile I do however sympathise (sp) for the fans.

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

Very disappointed so far. The first episode was horrendous. I was going to drop the show but the missus wanted to stick it out for one more. The second episode increased in quality to merely mediocre. There are only four episodes so I will probably plough my way through the last two episodes, but I really can't recommend it. It doesn't hold a candle to The Witcher.

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

I thought it was ok til the last episode when the cliche bingo card just got too full. At least the story was half interesting for a while. I very nearly turned it off when I saw not-Dandelion's face but then realized he was just there for the framing story. About on par with s1 Witcher, not as good as s2. Not as dull as the books, but then again most folks are watching at half the speed I am.

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

I couldn't even make it all the way through episode 1.

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

I binged all 4 eps just to feel let down because it wasn't going any farther, that's it, done and done, end of.

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

ME TOO. I only managed I think 2 eps ( I think I fell asleep ) It is not in the class of "The Outpost" let alone any thing else. So there are only 4 eps? Thats one good point I suppose. why was it ever made? actors under contract to have to give them some thing?

I heard (no idea if it's true) that they were worried about the huge gap between season 2 (released Dec 2021) and the start of Season 3 (sometime 2023) so wanted something to keep the franchise fresh and alive.

It makes sense as it is/was one of their most popular franchises...what a huge blunder.

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

I do not understand the extreme criticism of this show, sure it is not great and it has waay to much "diversity" and excessive/nonchalant violence but also it is definitively not the worst tv show out there. On the contrary, it is watchable. Many other shows are not watchable at all. Also most of the criticism i see is NOT about the forced "diversity" (non-whites, homos everywhere etc.) but about the actual quality of the story, dialogue, acting and such.

How do so many think THIS show has the WORST qualities this year, or in several years? It certainly does not. Also the actors are not awful, and the dialogue is not horrible either. I have not seen part four but the others were watchable, i usually drop shows quite fast if they are too bad. Personally i think much more popular shows like Mandalorian or Boba Fett had worse story, acting and dialogue than this. (they were watchable as well though)

One reviewer in Sweden said "it was boring because it took forever for the seven people to find each other"....uh, that part was the fun part, when they traveled and found each other in various situations. What the hell kind of show would it have been if it started with them already assembled? Four episodes of a big drawnout fight scene? THAT sounds very boring.

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

I suffered though one ep and saw no point in watching any more. Good actors but bad script, direction and editing.

21

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

I watched all 4 and enjoyed it.  I was expecting one of the worst fantasy shows ever made from reading the comments above and this was far from it.

2020.  Meh.

22

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

The last two episodes picked up a bit in terms of plot and character development/quality. Based on this and the fact that the whole thing is only four episodes I would change my review from "give this a miss" to "not great but maybe worth watching".

Re: The Witcher: Blood Origin (2022)

I've just watched 1x1 and was enjoying it enough to keep watching! Not as great as https://next-episode.net/the-witcher - but way better than the IMDb ratings let me expect.

It's almost as if you can ignore IMDB ratings roll

2020.  Meh.
