All these countless hallucinations etc. - if it's some advanced life form and/or civilization, that means it translated basically in Morse code for our monkey brains and if it can make neurons in a brain, why just not tell that brain to kill the host or instruct the host to infect every other host or go on suicide missions or whatever they need. Instead they are "angry" (low level emotion), almost got wiped out and at the same time can rip spacetime. Does not make much sense to me.
Like https://next-episode.net/foundation showed, it takes a basis of common understanding to transfer knowledge. Given hat even different parts of humanity came up with pretty different traditions and beliefs and languages, I was easily able to accept that there were communication difficulties in the story you mention.

▼Spoiler What would make sense and also would be a great story line if that proto-molocule is some next level civilization which wandered space for millions of years and finally encountered extraterrestrial life form (humans). Compared to them they act like ants. Let's open rings in space and see what they will do. Ooh, they started a war between themselves, a fascinating behavior.

Which writers? Book series is finished and they write there about proto-molecule and creators more. Specially in 9'th book. I am reading 9th right now and I really like books. It is quite good hard science fiction. Plus some political machinations and scheming. TV series was quite good adaption I just don't like that they killed Alex off. I had some kind of cognitive dissonance when watching this season the episodes where Rocinante fought Marco because in books the Alex was the pilot there and watching the fight scene I just wondered for a second - how the hell they can fight without him.

I like g371's protomolecule/advanced civ story. Much better than the script writers (who actually failed to even HAVE a story). Your'e hired!

Re: The Expanse
Well, another series gone (the last one supposedly) and nothing about the protomolecule, nothing about the aliens (except 'the dogs' who we still know NOTHING about) brought that kid back to life. Just nothing of interest at all really. Another waste of my time. I actually couldn't believe just how poor that last episode was. Needless to say, i won't be buying the Bluray of this one.

How you finished season 1 is amazing, but to be all caught up shows a high pain tolerance, you'd do well in torture situations.

Re: The Expanse
Meh, this show was one of the best sci fi's ever, went downhill to shit after Amazon took over. It's a shame.. It had so much potential. I still hope they make a Sequel which focuses on the ring worlds and the "creators".

Re: The Expanse
so it is over then? I have lost track of things. I hate these sci-fi shows that are not really what is on the box but use the sci-fi as an excuse eg Invasion is the worst of the lot. Stargate Universe another but atleast had some sci-fi and aliens. Now this it seems. ( I have yet to see eps 6) What annoyed me was when whats-his -name passed over killing whats-his-name and when taken to task claimed it was his call and none of the others business. Hey he is only the capt of the ship under sufferance he aint in the Martian or Earth navy having a commision. An commissioned officer would have killed Marcos and tough luck his girl friends son is collateral damage. very poor plot development to presumably squeeze a few more eps from the series oh just watched eps 6 and the doggies........so the kid is

Loved the final episode! But this last season felt a bit rushed. Still... I'll miss the show, the Roci, the crew, and the Belters with cool hairstyles and weird tattoos. inkblot wrote:merc wrote:sasilik wrote:TV series was quite good adaption I just don't like that they killed Alex off. Accused is not the same as guilty.
I read up on what happened back then and it was enough to remove him IMHO... it wasn't just one or two or three or four accusations: https://forum.next-episode.net/viewtopic.php?id=10460 Reply there please if you want to discuss this further.

Re: The Expanse
These are two different worlds and I understand that real life is real life and you can't make fictional world TV series with problematic person but it still sucks that this real life makes this fictional world quite different and kills people there.

Re: The Expanse
In the last episode
▼Spoiler imo it was one of the best space battles ever portrayed. These tactics are very similar to what would be used in case of a modern war fighting air-to-air and air-to-ground combo. Can look it up, it's a very interesting topic how radars are jammed and/or fooled, decoys launched, different kind of rockets fired with delays - similar as here they sent some decoy containers to draw fire, in 2022 war there also would be fired cheaper and slower rockets in big numbers, then a bit later more devastating and way more expensive ones - timed so that as ground defense is firing at decoys, real weapons join the party, slip through and take out ground forces etc.

It's cool that it was done in a realistic way, it felt realistic. The show had some great space battles! Of course I would have liked even more, but those are probably quite expensive to produce.

Yeah, I think it has been clear for a year or so that this was the end but you're right that there was a small chance.

The last season seems to have been hurried esp the last few eps eg the martian colony on the other side.
