Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]
This show feels like a big budget garbage, cannot decide to drop it or continue to watch it. Some bits are interesting and then back to fake and boring.

Way too much screen time was wasted on Sal and Hugo's pointless romance. The deflationary approach to episodes is predictable and obvious, and leaves little suspense. Special effects and set design were beautiful though, and like I said in my first post, "all that dirty Apple money will make good wall art out of Foundation." For whatever it's worth, I think the show is awesome and a Season 2 can't come soon enough. I'm curious, did your projected story line re. Gaal and Salvor play out as hunched? I think it was becoming clearer the last 3rd of the season, but that predictability bothered me not. The full circle moment was still satisfying, for me anyhow. The timelines to me, are rather confusing. Watched through all eps at least 3 times now and am considering a 4th. Personally, I like the fact that the story is on 2 separate periods of time, because on watching through again, everything makes so much more sense. Rewatching knowing which characters belong when was rewarding. Personally I tend to like shows that don't just hand you the story and expect you to roll with it. I've also read these books, and while I didn't love them, I did get pretty immersed in the ideas of those books. To those saying this show 'worships at the books altar', LMAO! Every character would be an old white dude who sits around smoking "vegan tobacco" if that were the case. The Sherriff, would have said "violence is for the stupid" instead of her dad saying it, and the whole situation would have been solved by talking it through. Those books are for fans of 12 Angry Men, and I'm talking about the original 50s movie. Keep in mind this is the book series that has inspired the worlds of Coruscant in Star Wars, Tatooine, and the world from Dune. And was written by Isaac Asimov, the dude who coined the words, 'android', 'cyborg' and a whole slew of other science fiction concepts. Between this and Wheel of Time, I had never been more excited to see my beloved books come to life since the Harry Potter movies were still coming out. Too bad WoT was a complete dud. This however, I think captured the awe of the size of the Empire, and the general tone and pacing of the books, while managing to be totally separate and unique to them. For instance, Gaal being female, and the semi-religious aspect to her is, I think, an amazing addition to her character. Her being from a water world and the whole swimming stuff is unique to her btw. If you find it boring, sorry. This skyrocketed into my top 3 SciFi list of all time after 1 season. The other two being The Expanse, and Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, right up the the replicator storyline. Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]xxFelixDCatxx wrote:

Gaal Dornick was the best part of the show, and I really enjoyed her too. I'm certainly no fan of the books or Isaac Asimov's writing style, lolz, (in my first comment I bashed Isaac Asimov's prose Have you guys seen rotten tomatoes score for Foundation? 70% Critic Score and 57% Audience Score. Agreed. In a woke cancel culture, people could use a little sober second thought, look intently at their own prejudices, and not rush so quickly to convict. Amazing movie. Posts: 101 to 120 of 120Forums - Next Episode → TV Show Discussions → Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi] |
