If he would just shoot first and ask questions later, with a devil-may-care attitude, and play by his own set of rules, it would be as enjoyable as the Mandalorian, but so far he keeps everyone at arms reach and uses people to gain information like a politician and a spy. While not completely out of character, he's certainly a softer Boba than the bodyguard/bounty hunter the movies would have us peg him as. But I guess that's what happens to people when they fall into a pit, they have time to think and get all introspective about the meaning of life and shit. I don't agree. He was a bounty hunter, paid to track people down across the galaxy. If he's not getting paid, why would he bother with all the killing? Maybe he'd always wanted to be a politician
A devil-may-care attitude or a shoot-first-ask-questions-later attitude isn't about shooting but about spontaneity. The Mandalorian seems more spontaneous (faster), whereas Boba Fett seems more methodical (slower), which creates a different tempo or pacing in each show. Both interesting, just different. ▼Spoiler As far as becoming a politician, yes, which is about networking with people, knowing everything about everything, and is often tedious, where the Mandalorian would have no interest in that. Maybe it's not personality, maybe it's just situational, but there's a tempo and tone to The Book of Boba Fett that seems slower and less enjoyable than The Mandalorian. I always thought Boba Fett was an elusive shadow that you never see coming, not a ruler on a throne that everyone sees all the time. A bit of an unexpected path for him to choose to go down. Wikipedia posted this: Morrison said the series was an opportunity to explore the character's past and show what happened to him between the events of Return of the Jedi and the second season of The Mandalorian. The actor focused on Fett's "simmering kind of violence" and desire for revenge, as well as his loneliness, that was caused by watching his father die at a young age. This plays into the idea that he finds a new family in a tribe of Tusken Raiders in The Book of Boba Fett. Daniel Logan appears as a young Fett via archive footage filmed for Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. So, instead of a personality that would just bare knuckle ignore all that and be an elusive shadow, they're playing into his past as though Boba needs a family and solace. Ya, that's why it's boring. lolz.

I wasn't sold on the first episode, but, the second episode was very good. I'm awaiting the third with a modicum of anticipation.

3rd eps has decent amount of action in it but was rather short about 30 minutes after you take away the opening summary and the closing credits. One thig I hope will not be a constant feature is the flash backs when he goes into the tank

Thanks to the action 1x3 didn't feel short though, I liked it! merc wrote:One thig I hope will not be a constant feature is the flash backs when he goes into the tank
Hehe... in 1x3 I - for the first time in this show - didn't mind that at all.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
Matt Berry's voice (IT Crowd, What we do in the shadows) just made me laugh throughout this episode, not because it was all that funny, but because I can't get Matt's stupid face out of my head when 8D8/UK2-B is talking!
THEN, Danny Trejo shows up and I'm laughing even more! 103, so much fun, John Favreau is awesome. ▼Spoiler How the crap has Boba Fett remained in control of Jabba's seat as long as he has without even a small army? Reputation? He should be dead, so dumb, but it's fun.

I'm glad some people are enjoying the show and having fun with it, I certainly aren't. I found this episode terrible, I'm almost ready to drop this its been so mediocre. That was the slowest car/speeder/bike chase in the history of cinema/tv. It all just seems so uninspired to me.

This episode was enjoyable for reasons unrelated to the show. Then again, maybe not; they were driving around 8km/hr in that chase scene! So funny. It's 30 minutes, maybe crack a beer, kick back, and turn your brain off when you watch it. This isn't the West Wing. Boba's political prowess doesn't go too deep! The book of Boba Fett is beer and pizza TV, to be enjoyed with wisecracking hecklers. I created a separate forum, that might cheer you up, enjoy! https://forum.next-episode.net/viewtopic.php?id=10938

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
One thing i like is the theme music. One question about the closing comic book type images, are these from the comic books or just invented to make it look the series has pedegree? by the way the hover bike kids seem to be the mods of the mods and rockers generation? The mods had scooters with lots of mirrors whereas the rockers used real motor bikes

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
They're not from the comics (nor is the series). The paintings started in Mandalorian, I assume to go along with the old west feel to the two series.

Those are concept art images mostly by Doug Chiang. They are not part of storyboards, just concept art. All of the pre-visualization is done digitally before shooting so that they can use the Volume.
...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?
Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

And don't bother buying a book of the concept art. I love the concept art from Mando, and I thought a coffee table book of that would be amazing. When I heard they were working on one I immediately ordered it. And when it turned up I wished I hadn't. Awful.
2020. Meh.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
Plenty to heckle in episode 104: ▼Spoiler 1. A lot of food in this episode. It starts with Boba cooking some kind of open pit roast, maybe goat? Then he finds androids cooking some kind of celery stir fry, and later at the costume party in the palace they have quite the spread, ribs with wine; add that to the Food that goes forum. 2. They have Cyberpunk mod shops on Tatooine? Cool. Did not know that. Weirdest music choice ever! 3. The chase scene in the kitchen with the small android was clearly meant for kids. 4. Love how all the guards come into the garage and totally miss fire at Boba and Fennec. Point blank. Some don't even lift their guns. It was like watching very easy mode in a video game. 5. We learn that Boba was tired of working for mob bosses, figured he was smarter than them so decided to work for himself. Makes sense. 6. Oh the Pit! He must really love that pit, Proteinerd, because it happens, he goes back to the pit. Krrsantan the wookie was even in the pit apparently. "We all fell in that pit." 7. The meeting at the Palace was quite the costume party. Now I know why no one is after Boba as the Daiymo, he asked his rivals to remain neutral if asked to betray him so he can fight a bigger enemy, the Pyke Syndicate. And he scared the crap out of them with a rancor.
Reasonable exposition and generally fun episode.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
re #6 ▼Spoiler he loved the pit so much he had to forget he'd needed his armor to get out of it so he could go back in for it. Even if exposure, etc. made him forget that and the Jawa incident you'd think this supposedly smart fella could logic out that he'd had to have had on the armor to get out of there alive. Even with that, ep 4 was my least hated of the season. ▼Spoiler Hoping his letting the Bantha loose will spell the end of the repeated reminders that Banthas are really slow. I think we all get it by now.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
Hey I think they finally hit on a winning formula: ▼Spoiler Just make a Mandalorian episode but call it BoBF. Plus blow all that budget they'd been saving with the cheap-looking everything. Hopefully the finale will be of that quality to finish on a high note.

Hrm, I thought it was 6. I'd be really annoyed by finding out it was 7 were it not for ep 5. And merc we did warn you this was not at all a good jumping off point for Star Wars.

105 was the best episode yet, because the Mandalorian isn't slow and boring like 'ol man Fett. This episode was great for gamers. Nice touch adding the BD unit from Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order; great game and story btw. Wouldn't it be great if Cal Kestis or Iden Versio showed up? Oh man! Also, I like the Halo ring they were on; ya I was scouting for something vaguely resembling Masterchief. The end felt like Star Wars Episode I Racer. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order Star Wars: Battlefront II Halo Star Wars: Episode I Racer The security droids in this episode reminded me of Alan Tudyk who played K-2S0 in Rogue One....(Wash Dies)...which makes me think of how amazing Resident Alien was tonight.

This is a very odd mix of brutal violence, adult storylines and a childrens show. Even more so than the Mandalorian.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
The best episode of the series so far doesn't even have Boba Fett in it.... I have a sneaking suspicion its on purpose. This is my conspiracy theory. Disney still has to pay royalties when characters from old SW are used for toys etc. So they would have to pay out on anything using Boba Fett likeness BUT not on The Mandalorian merchandise as he is a Disney creation. They make an almost exact copy of Boba in Mondo, looks pretty much the same, is a bounty hunter as well and they then go ahead and purposely make Boba less appealing to fans by completely changing his character and make the new version of him (The Mandalorian) a lot more kick ass. This way they use Mondo going forward and none of the fans kick up a stink cause Boba sucks now and we have a ready replacement. This leads to less demand for Boba Fett merchandise over time and more for Mondo so less licensing fees on effectively the same damn character until they have completely replaced Boba with Mondo in another 2-3 years...
