Topic: The Book of Boba Fett
https://next-episode.net/the-book-of-boba-fett
A new series set in the Star Wars universe, streaming on Disney+, announced in the post-credits scene of the finale of The Mandalorian Season 2.
Well the first episode was a load of nothing and a waste of 37 minutes. 1/5 so far.
DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom". http://xkcd.com/488/

I wouldn't go that far, but I thought "Ah, a cheaper version of https://next-episode.net/the-mandalorian!" The cast is less expensive, and they could recycle much of what was created for that other show. Was worth watching for me, hope it'll improve though.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
I kind of think all these week to week boxset type shows really should bring out 3 episodes at the start. Amazon do it with a lot of their shows. That way the setup episode isn't sat on its own

I liked it. It was a decent enough setup and a strikingly accurate continuation from Return of the Jedi. "Nothing", Wizard? Too far. They could've released a few episodes to start like bamuel said, because 101 was an appetizer without a meal, but I'm so in.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
I do not particularly care much for either of these shows but this was better than most episodes of the Mandalorian, more dialogue, more characters, and more imaginative story line. Also that city is interesting, it does not look like CGI when they ran over the rooftops, but i can also not imagine they have built such a thing just for this? That would cost very much.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
I love the Mandalorian but this felt like a fan film. Actually that's not fair, I've seen Star Wars fan films that were better than this. I usually love Robert Rodriguez so I'm pretending like he had some reason for making this so cheesy. Just every aspect seemed completely phoned in. At least they kept the cool credits paintings from Mando so there was something I liked.

I liked it, and fan service is preferable to woke gone wild, which a lot of SciFi video has been crippled by.

I had another look and it is not bad, just not a fan of Star Wars. Atleast not the con that Invasion was. I see Ming-Na Wen from Agents of Shield is the sidekick. Good to see her. Any one like to explain who this Boba Fet is? He seems to be a nth rate crime boss? Strange person to hang a film on

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
I don't think of it as fan service ▼Spoiler when we've been waiting 30+ years for that lame Sarlacc escape and merc if you're not a fan of star wars you'd be better served with the Mandalorian for a more complete story. This is essentially assuming familiarity with eps 2, 5 & 6 plus s2 of Mandalorian. But basically he was a bounty hunter in the original trilogy who was badass despite and partly because of his limited screen time and development.

If you have no idea who Boba Fett even is, I'd honestly suggest that you don't bother with this series. For me, personally, Boba Fett has always been my favourite character in Star Wars. I'm old, so I saw them all when they were originally released in the cinema. Just saying.

What i do not understand is why not everybody just shoots them at sight. They are horrible in every way. Not like there are any laws or anything that protects them.

Hmmm, mass genocide then for two entire races. Probably not the most family friendly of ideas.

haha no i did not mean all of them, but like when you meet them. You KNOW they are going to steal your stuff and club you over the head the first chance they get, still people just seem to tolerate them. Yet everybody else in the galaxy are constantly fighting and shooting each other but everybody is just fine with being kidnap and robbed by these weirdos.

Anakin kinda already did it, like, when he went full scorched earth!! @Dofus Disney+ > Star Wars: Attack of the Clones (Episode II) > Timestamp 1:20:30. Enjoy!

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
I really want to like this. Growing up, having seen all the original trilogy in theatres, Boba Fett was AWESOME, one of my favourites SW characters. Now I'm a little (lol) older, I realise a LOT of that was because he was so mysterious. Now we are getting him as a main character (plus his scenes in the prequel trilogy) he's becoming less and less cool. I really wish they had of just kept going with The Mandalorian and had Boba Fett appear occasionally, be a BA then disappear and remain mysterious. It was ok, better than the Disney movies at least but still far from the SW heydays of old.

(Proteinnerd, listen to "The Pit" while reading my response.) Golden Age Thinking. Should we ask them to put him back in the pit? That'd be such a great way to end the series though, Boba Fett has this long complicated story, then Han accidentally knocks him back in the pit, roll credits. It was so stupid how he ended up in there in the first place, this show makes him way cooler, imo. Re-watch Return of the Jedi, timestamp 33:40, and be objective this time. I never gave him much fan service as a kid, but I had friends who did. I just thought he was a villain that kinda sucked, because I presumed he died in the pit after Han lightly tapped him on the back! Even in the Mandalorian, I didn't realize that was post pit. I will give you this, making a show about him now, is the definition of retroactive continuity or a ret-con: (in a film, television series, or other fictional work) a piece of new information that imposes a different interpretation on previously described events, typically used to facilitate a dramatic plot shift or account for an inconsistency. Boba "Enough time to launch a t-shirt canon and do a dance before flailing himself into the Sarlacc Pit" Fett.

Re: The Book of Boba Fett
The novels and comics had him out of the pit long ago before they became 'legend' so this is actually a ret-con of a ret-con

The person they should have got to play the part is the tough guy Mick Rory from DC Lengends who grinds his speech

You'd need to take that up with 2002, as Morrison was obliquely cast for this when they cast him in Attack of the Clones, with 'clones' being the operative word here.

That's fine with me. But it does kind of make me sound like a character from a Stephen King novel, someone who did something years ago that only a few people from the town remember, lived in some house at the edge of town. Or maybe a bit like old man Peabody...
