Topic: The Matrix Resurrections
The Matrix Resurrections – Official Trailer 1 https://youtu.be/9ix7TUGVYIo I love it! https://entertainment.slashdot.org/stor … urrections has a few good comments, I like this one (copy/pasted without links): The song you hear in the background through the trailer is "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane. A group that had its first public live performance in a club called "The Matrix Club" [needsomefun.net]. The club since closed down [wikipedia.org]. Today, there's a bar in there called the "White Rabbit" [whiterabbitsf.com]. Yes. It is a coincidence. But it couldn't fit any better if it had been planned.

Re: The Matrix Resurrections
I'm dying to know if the leaks of the woke ending are true and that it turns out Trinity was "The One" all along. We can't have no CIS white man being the hero in 2021 ....

Re: The Matrix Resurrections
Just watched The Matrix Resurrections, and I couldn't help but think, "this is the entire plot of Hancock with Will Smith", like, in a shockingly unoriginal way, as though they didn't realize what they made. The lead character has memory loss, a tortured past that's vague, power he can't explain, his distance from his true love changes both of them, and that's Hancock, just in this, it's with lifeless action scenes, youtube clips of the original Matrix movie, and a pile of boring window dressing. I thought Bugs played by Jessica Henwick was going to be some preachy woke story, and it wasn't, she's the best part of the movie, and they could easily make an entire Matrix series around her exploring the inner workings of the machine world. ...but why this story? It advances nothing. It's unnecessary. Like a long Matrix Revolutions Denouement.

no thanks. The sequels got worse. Seems Hollywood does not know when they have a one film idea. They just know how to get the cash registers cha-chinging

Well, that's 2.5 hours of my life I won't get back. Terrible film. More style over substance.

IT is terrible! This is to fulfill an Agenda and, worst of it, take the lead character the "lead" and give it to a woman out of nothing (nothing against women, just the story itself). I've seen the movie, but... it seemed everything but Matrix! ...... apart from the effects and the sentinels. However, they did the impossible: Each movie after the first received even lower ratings, being this one the lowest

If you look at the timestamp, I said "Looks terrible" back on November 14th, 30 seconds into the trailer. If anything, the movie was WAY better than what I thought it was going to be, 2/10 to a 5/10, because it wasn't as woke as I thought it was going to be, it's just unoriginal and unnecessary as stated in my review above.

Re: The Matrix Resurrections
So it's "woke" whenever a woman is the lead? Wow. What a bunch of old men you are. Visually nice, but no "wow" factor as in the first Matrix. The idiots at the software company just made me hate them. Mostly what I saw was a huge ad aimed at younger audiences saying, "Wouldn't you like to know what's going on and why this series was so popular? Rent them and find out!". Or for older audiences to watch the series again to remind themselves. Meh.

That's ageism, reductionist, and discriminatory. A movie is woke when preachy self righteous liberalism is unfair towards centralist and conservative points of view, and thankfully this movie did not go down that road, as Warner Bros. managed to steer this movie in a less awful direction. It's still a shit sandwich, just not a soggy one. I hated those idiots at the software company too, the whole movie felt like one of those bad youtube Matrix montages. Here's some of the inspiration for The Matrix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkaQUZFbJjE Such a great watch. So wack.

Re: The Matrix Resurrections
Honestly, if someone told me it was a fan made sequel, I'd believe them. The only thing that explains it is the whole 4th wall breaking scene where they literally say Warner Bros said they were going to make a sequel of The Matrix (game) with or without them. Who wouldn't put in a half assed effort and take a huge pay check after that?

Oh, here we go with the snowflakes again.. Y’all seem to have forgotten that every Matrix has a new The One. This time it was a woman!

Lolz. Those with a sense of humor would find that pretty funny. Please read the following with Larry David's voice in mind: (First I'm misquoted by ColdSpirit and I corrected them, then I'm called "old" and lumped into the same group as people who think Resurrections is woke by TeaAndApathy which I just explained to ColdSpirit that I'm not, and now I'm called a snowflake by Toidol for playfully pointing out the obvious about TeaAndApathy's post. Is this an English as a second language problem, blindness, or just trolling? A bit hostile. Re-read all my posts.) ▼Spoiler Trinity becoming The One didn't come off as woke, it was just dumb.

I understand now your comment towards the trailer, although I was mentioning the movie itself. I found it terrible. Was watchable?! Yes. Was that Matrix (in the send it felt like the original movie and maybe the second one)? No, it was something useless and excused.

Re: The Matrix Resurrections
I went to watch it with a couple of friends, and they all wanted to compare it to the Original Matrix and Alien, etc... the movies that were top of the top back in the day. So I realized that the problem is in expectation itself, as it is rather hard to create a movie that stands out as much as the matrix did 20+ years ago. I personally enjoyed the movie. I thought that the action was perhaps a bit over the top, and the plot is weak - but that is something I'm used to with reboots/continuations. Don't expect something like the original Matrix and you'll be just fine

So, just an excuse to make a movie and cash in? I dunno, it cost the studio $190 million to make this movie and it's only made $66.7 million in the box office, and who knows how long it'll remain in theaters given the reviews or how much it'll make on the back end through streaming services, but it's not a cash cow like say, The Pirates of The Caribbean 5, by any stretch, especially during Omicron. We can surmise it's been made at a loss, which is what I would've told the studio at the start. My point is that, I think they thought this was good. @Easycore This movie is full of old Matrix movie clips and is asking the audience to compare it throughout, so it's almost impossible not to watch this without comparison. The expectation isn't a carbon copy of the original Matrix, but a film that advances the plot instead of rehashing it. What new information do we really learn? If this movie focused more on Bugs uncovering new intel on the machine world, it would've been a far more interesting story. 10 ZPM's from Stargate Atlantis and there's no need for human batteries. lolz. Hint hint, wink wink, the pursuit of an alternative power source should've been the focus of the story to dismantle the Matrix itself, and transition to a peaceful co-existence between humans and machines, which is what I'd expect after Revolutions, but instead we got... ....The Power of Love!!!!
