Topic: Favourite movie medium?
How do you prefer to watch your movies? Do you prefer the atmosphere of watching movies on the big screen, the buzz from all the other people there, the hot and cold running popcorn? Or with the readily availability of flat screen TVs, and surround sound in the home, do you prefer to kick back on your own comfy sofa and pop in a DVD, with the added bonus of being able to pause if you need to pee. Is the home cinema the way of the future, or will there always be a place for the big screen? What do you think?

Maybe change the DVD option to read DVD/HT
DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom". http://xkcd.com/488/

HT = Home Theater... I'm guessing a lot of people around here are have put more than average into their home theater setup. My vote goes to blu ray... I'm sort of with bamuel on the cinema thing. Only - I don't think the cinema is primarily for good flics, I think it's for noisy FX-driven films. Stuff that's not the same when watched at home - no matter how noisy your woofers can get. In my opionion the cinema is unrivaled when it comes to movies like Transformers or Independence Day...

Re: Favourite movie medium?
I'm pretty small and I usually have a huge guy [or sometimes a lady with a Marge Simpson hairstyle, it HAS happened] sitting in front of me, so I prefer watching movies at home. Also, I have a hard time sitting in a chair for a whole movie, I usually get up and walk around when I'm at home, but I obviously can't do that in the cinema without missing parts of the movie. As someone has mentioned, I also love to watch blu-ray DVDs. The quality is simply amazing.

Re: Favourite movie medium?
I went for DVD cos there's no option of in front of the computer. i have enough big monitor and good enough of sound that i have no need to buy special DVD player. i would have voted Cinema but unfortunately in the past 5 years i have seen way more movies, tv shows and other stuff from PC than cinema. tho the big screen and popcorn still rule

DVD: I can watch the movie in peace. Nobody laughing, eating, making annoying sound. I don't care for the enjoyment of the big screen...
...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?

When you have a big enough screen at home, DVDs are the way to go. The peace, the quiet, the pause.. unbeatable.

Cinema is far better. You usually go there with a company so it is much more eventful. I watch DVD when the movie isn't too spectacular.

Re: Favourite movie medium?
Im to lazy to go to the cinema ... ok, I live 20 meteres away from one, but Im also not ready to pay 8 euros to see a movie I get only for free. I like watching movies on the big screen at home, or even ont he notebook on the couch.

I would have to pay 11€ for the movie. I'll only go to the cinemas when I get a free ticket, that's like once or twice a year... But still I am satisfied to my own TV-screen. It is big enough and full hd capable. Surround sounds and HD/BR players. Who needs more, not me.

Re: Favourite movie medium?
I watch at home, i like to be able to surf the net as i watch. Also to be able to put on my series after the movie is done not haveing to take the bus for 45min home. I only go to the movies if i want to really support it or if i have waited for it a long time. I live in sweden and when the movies goes to our big screens i can often buy the dvd of the net.

Re: Favourite movie medium?
I love going to the cinema, the atmosphere just adds to the whole experience. I think watching DVDs at home is great (I do it ALL the time), but I often find myself getting distracted (normally by my girlfriend going to the toilet or getting up to get a drink!) Some films just have to be seen on the big screen though, for example The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars, etc. Plus the popcorn tastes better! I just wish it was cheaper and the variety of films was better. The stuff Hollywood has been churning out for the last few years has largely been soul-less. I am dreading Watchmen for that reason.
2020. Meh.

Re: Favourite movie medium?
if you have a good set up at home its the way to go , stuff the cinema, latley too many shit heads at the pictures , they stand up ,make noise ect , and you pay good money to see that crap, and not to mention crappy popcorn if you end up buying one. at the end of the night it will set you back $18 ticket + $7 popcorn + $5 drink, thats one person mind you, so for all that not damm worth value for money.
