Re: Star Trek: Discovery
I also think that latest season is the weakest so far - cast, story line. Basically downgraded to background noise category for me. And these are top-notch annoying characters, like competing with Carl from TWD As soon as these start to speek, I fast forward 30 sec. For them could introduce an award "The best I'm about to start to cry actor of the year".

what about Tilly? she is even worse? I wish someone would push her out of the airlock. ▼Spoiler Though I think after the current eps 4 she will be leaving Get rid of those three and fewer full facials of Michael Burnham we would have a decent show?

It would be a start, but there is still the fact that the "special" affects are awful and the story line is very predictable.
DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom". http://xkcd.com/488/

Re: Star Trek: Discovery
Putting "Discovery" in the title is false advertising. It's a cliché factory with bad CGI.

Please tell me: what don't you guys like about the CGI exactly? (I know we talked about the non-CGI effects earlier, not sure if Wizard only dislikes those.) There are many shows with way worse CGI...

A bit less annoying, but yes, would not be missed if some unfortunate accident would happen Basically all that crew is like a preschoolers with a couple adults watching them.

Speaking about CGI - after how many thousands of years they will learn to insulate electric stuff properly in spacecrafts so the whole bridge is no showered with sparks every time some action happens?

Re: Star Trek: Discovery
I usually watch shows light-heartedly without much judgement but....... I tend to agree with others being mostly dissapointed in the current season. ▼Spoiler Too much Michael Burnham...whatever problems they face, Michael Heartburn is the answer --- yawn! Everything is wrapped up too neatly and little miss perfect can do no wrong. I like the actress in general from Walking Dead and the first 2 seasons of Discovery. Hoping the next few episodes don't revolve around her and how wonderful she is. Also have most of the men been written out of the script in current season? Glad Tilly is off to StarFleet - she was becoming so unbearably whiny. With the anomaly being such a danger to the entire universe's existence, if she were to be true to her character and intelligence, she would have manned up and found a solution to the problem rather than having a career crisis. Enjoyed her in the first two seasons but watching her this season is like someone dragging nails accross a chalkboard. Complainted about her promotion and acted like she was the only person on the crew that left family 900 yeas in the past. Snore. Like Michael burned ham would have wanted a recording of Tilly snoring...as if! Training cadets to Planet - was dumbed down and predictable. Thought the characters could have been more interesting if Tilly hadn't suppressed them so much. Would have been more fun if the monster swallowed Tilly instead of killing the cadet when they crash-landed. Uniforms have become amateurish. Saru's shirt looked like two diferent peple made it and forgot to even out the bottom. Did the change the person that does the costumes? They were exceptional in previous seasons - 3d printed, black alert, interesting fabric and textures. Did anybody catch the Jar-Jar like character walking by Michael Heartburn in the corridor toward end of episode? Reminded me of the lawyer that was on a zoom call with a cat's head. https://youtu.be/9GJAiiTTpr4?t=29
Things I do like about the current season are..... ▼Spoiler Now I like Booker's story working through his grief through suggestions and interactions with varied cast members of other species. So fiercely protective of Grudge, his feline companion. The humor that comes from others trying to minimize the importance of their bond makes me laugh every time! Maybe Grudge should replace Michael Heartburn as captain? I'm probably overly caffeinated writing this! Apologies in advance LOL.

At least we won't see her for x episodes now. I hope that if she returns at some point (next season?), she'll be wiser and more mature.

you mean eps 4? When I saw what it was about I skipped it. Eps 5 gets the series back on track and more interesting, so take a look at that first before dumping it

Yes, it was better except for the part when they are breaking the prime directive. All shows these days are so politically "liberal" that it is sickening (i refuse to use that nonsense garbage w-word). The prime directive is named like that because it is the most important of their own rules, to NOT interfere in other cultures and how they deal with stuff. "Oh you have another type of penal system than we have, WE CAN NOT ACCEPT THAT!" Are we now also going to give phasers to some cavemen so they can protect themselves against their neighbor cavemen tribe because they are "heteronormative" and that is bad according to year 3000 space-liberals, why not?

I think the prime directive does not exclude offering asylum in individual cases? The p.d is about interfering in societies in situ which did not happen. I will have to take another look to see the exact wording & events

I am quite sure granting people asylum to escape their own cultures and laws would be interfering with the natural development of their societies. For anything really, even wars. Meddling in stuff that needs to happen as it should without aliens from the future changing them. But sure, saving them from the worm hole thing would arguably also be wrong. What do i know.

I for sure will keep using woke, because there is nothing liberal about it, but sums up very well the "liberal" And not only TV shows, past week our systems deployment was stopped for a moment, because this infection spreads everywhere - in this case an offensive word master was renamed to builtin Checked who gifted this magnificent idea - and of course blue haired individuals were involved btw IMDb also is woke - they exclude votes from the rating they don't like for shows like this one - that's why I never vote 1 - I choose in range 2-5, so that they have a hard time doing that. So when you see a rating let's say 7.5, that does not mean that it's 7.5, it easy can be "liberally adjusted" Same effect as now after YT removed the dislike counter the worst videos in the history still has millions of likes, you just don't see these 100 mil. dislikes.

These people are absolutely insane, and tries to meddle with everything and seriously believe that just changing names on things and censoring peoples opinions actually will change how we think and feel. Maybe it works on themselves, as the neurotic conformist submissive self-hating weaklings they are, the rest of us just gets more annoyed with it all.

Re: Star Trek: Discovery
Soooo, Ep 4 was like a combination of TOS episodes The Galileo Seven & Journey to Babel with maybe a soupçon of TNG's Final Mission... except just the the lest interesting parts. That being said it DID have Ice Spiders, which would be waaaaay better had this been GoT!? As for Ep 5, it was an episode of this show that happened.

At least it felt more plausible in that show.
