I've really enjoyed 1x4. smile

Spoiler

Loved the last few seconds, Gaal shows up again, still in 'hibernation' mode. I had expected something in that direction - interesting that they've waited with that till now...

1x04 was really meh.

Who knows (but I have a theory)! Be patient and I'm sure it'll be revealed. cool

By the way... why do you read spoilers before watching the episode? big_smile

Salvor Hardin is supposed to be male and so is Gaal Dornick, but more than affirmative action and liberal political correctness asserting it's position into everything, it's how often these characters refer to past events without showing them that it makes the show bland and disconnected, like, we haven't seen those past events that they talk about to care enough about the current ones.  It's annoying on multiple levels.

I like the Trantor story though.

maybe things are hotting up? midday empire is going to terminus and those guys have that big  gun pointing into the sky?  I will have to skim read the book again to see what is supposed to happen

105 was great; I like the set for Gaal Dornick's spaceship and her story kept me invested to the end, but I couldn't help but cheer for the bad guys, that is, the

Spoiler

enemy uprising on Terminus, as I find the portrayal of Salvor Hardin annoying, as well as everyone that's apart of the Foundation.

The amount of point blank gunfire misses throughout has got to be a new record for an episode of television! lol  Had some strong SG1 vibes.

The universe seems to be populated by crack special ops troops who can't hit the broad side of a barn at 50M. I think I was more accurate with my pellet gun when I was eight. Perhaps they have all been through the same weapons training that the Imperial Storm Troopers took?

Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]

Yeah, I also enjoyed 1x5, and also found that a bit weird. smile

And, everyone (and paisley1 specifically): please add spoiler tags when revealing something new.

lol  I know!  The technology is too sophisticated to miss that bad.  I'm a better shot with a sight that's out, than that hilarious scene; it kinda reminded me of Adam Sandler in Murder Mystery; comical.  The rest of episode 105 was great though.

@Lighton, I reworded my thoughts and updated the spoiler.  It's difficult to know what constitutes a spoiler, I thought I was pretty vague.  Sorry if I ruined that for anyone.

Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]

106, so boring.  I think this is the type of show that needs to be binged per season, all the way through.

Spoiler

Dawn's story of hunting, dating, color blindness, skepticism of the Empire, and general rebellious streak was great, everything else was a lot of lead up. Raych seeing Salvor time travelling during the stabbing, felt like Rey touching the lightsaber in Star Wars.  Sorta an obvious foregone conclusion Raych was forced to kill Harry due to the math, blah blah blah, I think everyone would assume that by how they're approaching this material; the deflationary approach, lolz.

I have to agree with this. Shows with large heady story arcs like this I think should be released in bunches or all at once. I like the the idea of releasing several episodes / week (say bunches of 3) better than the slow drip of 1/week.

Spoiler

I liked this episode because it showed us just how weak the Cleons really are even when as they are strong. Showing us Dawn has a 'human' side is really just showing us that even with all the technology and the practices in place, humanity - in all its randomness - is breaking through in the Cleons. Showing Dusk actually set Dawn up with the Concubine in order to get information out of him, shows the distrust the Cleons have between themselves, another human weakness. Also, I think the point of the scene that Salvo "Mind-Tripped" to between Raych and Seldon was important to remind the viewers that even with a giant inescapable mathematical prediction of the future, the weakness in the plan is that at key moments, everything can come down to just one, or a small number of decisions made by as few as one human.

Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]

107 was amazing!  Some of the best TV this year.  Caitlin Saunders wrote one hell of a great script. Well done!

Spoiler

Cool ship in the middle of nowhere with an FTL able to jump like BSG, that also felt a bit like salvaging that reever ship on Firefly. Dawn's story was great exposition, and Gaal's story is soooo good, I loved it, able to feel the future; precog, psychic, or prophetess.  Loved how they edited all those scenes together for the build up at the end.

Looking forward to what B'Elanna has in store for us next week.

I have yet to wattch it . so about time some thing happened - 7 out of 10 eps? This show is what happens when you try to "do" a famous sci fi book

67

Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]

Finally! things got interesting. Can't wait for next week.

Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]

I loved how Gaal outsmarted HAL 9000's...

Spoiler

...slightly friendlier "authorization required" grandchild. smile

Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]

Still watching but having big problems turning on new episodes. Mostly because how i dislike the cast, and how they portray the characters, I dont sympathize at all with either of the main casted girls, not when they lost a father i couldn't care less about or the boyfriends...

Got the same problem with the "bad" guys. Trying to capture the ancient spaceship and drive it through the main planet. That's cool and all, but the characters are uninteresting af.

I get where SG Atlantis got their Idea of the random jump drive episode.

And for the emperors... Still kinda boring storyline, the love story is the only interesting part so far heh.

Didn't know she was directing, has she made anything noteworthy in the past?

Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]

I'm with Moze, it's really boring and it jumps all over the place.

There was a huge story arc about the huge mysterious  floating object on the planet and how everyone should avoid it.  Where is that arc now?  What is the object?  Is this going to end up as another GoT S8??

Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]

Failure to launch is all I can say for this show, the only thing cool they have introduced on their own was the genetic dynasty but then they go use it as a the "big evil" and rails against it over and over. Disappointed beyond belief.

Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]

some books  just don't transfer to tv or film. Dune was one? This another. And Gaals  rabbiting on, on the space ship is a total bore. I did read the books but I think now I skipped through a lot of the material to get to the meat. And there is a total lack of humour. I think there are only 2 eps left?

73

Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]

Most of you guys complain about the show, but it still holds a good IMDb rating. I hope for more seasons! smile

Re: Foundation [Drama, Sci-Fi]

I complained about the structure and approach to the source material from the very beginning; it's a pacing nightmare, like Cloud Atlas, and that makes it difficult to cue into and care about anyone.  107 finally went back to our lead storyline from 101 and 102, which, as far as I'm concerned, is the most interesting storyline, as 107 revealed new information in a way that brought me closer to Gaal in that....

Spoiler

Gaal learned something about herself, her psychic/prophetic abilities.

@Moze, Roxanne Dawson has done a wide range of directing in a lot of different TV shows, I left a link on her name. She directed The Long Con on LOST, Sawyers backstory episode.  Not that directing means anything when the problem with Foundation is the structure and approach to the material, as Alex Graves directed the most boring episodes in Foundation 104-106, and he's amazing, he directed the West Wing, Game of Thrones, and Homeland.  I'm just interested to see what Roxanne Dawson does with the material.

Like the previous episodes, I predict 108 and 109 will be boring lead up, and 110 will be a big reveal.

@Lighton, an IMDB rating of 7.3/10 for Foundation is close to me, I'd give it a 7/10.

Given what we've seen so far, what would everyone on next-episode rate Foundation out of 10?

To have to wait until the very last eps for any thing good  is a sign of failure. This show has so liitle drama in it, after the air bridge esp that is ( and what a stupid idea that is, fantasy gone mad - havent they heard of teleportation? some times  you need to update a book with more modern ideas otherwise it comes across as just quaint )

rating? 4/10
