I completely agree with your sentiments about Foundation as I too, don't care about any character yet, and they haven't really given enough backstory to make me care enough about the plot either, as it was all so rushed where they started the story, but it's the only good scifi on TV at the moment, so I'll watch this until it turns into a liberal political soapbox.

That is a dilemma, if you're all caught up on Space SF there's really only Lower Decks right now and it's a sit-com... on the plus side Invasion starts on the 22nd and it might be good cool

Fiz, what are you watching in the mean time here in ye 'ol autumn of 2021?  Other than Ted Lasso, Only Murders in the Building, and What we do in the Shadows, I can't find any good shows, so let me know what your Foundation alternatives are.  Just started Y: The Last Man.

Off-topic, discuss that here: https://forum.next-episode.net/viewtopic.php?id=10023

lighton, that link didn't take me to paisley1's post/question... not sure if it was deleted but could fin it on that string sad

That being said I have been posting my month's viewing lists at https://forum.next-episode.net/viewtopic.php?id=9857 after I saw a few other members like you (paisley1), kurschnextepisode & g371 doing so. Feel free to check it out or, better yet, add you own again smile

Better?

It's good to see the forums are busy again now that TV has picked up with shows like Foundation.

I agree, it's been a bit quiet lately despite there being quite a lot of series coming out!?

paisley1 has chosen to not post there. smile

Yes, over summer people didn't feel like posting much here. cool

The Great with Elle Fanning. I have just started to watch this. Is there is discussion group for this I could not find one. This is a really great show. I see season 2 soon starts

The trailer is funny, never heard of the show. smile

P.S.: When you recommend the show page https://next-episode.net/the-great directly, everyone reading your post doesn't have to search for the show. smile

After watching 103, it's the teleplay that sucks, that is, their approach to the timeline and series of events has played out so far in a way that unfortunately hides, not just the big reveals in the development of the plot (as it should), but the character development along with it that's necessary to hook an otherwise accepting and respondent audience.  AKA Cloud Atlas.  Is it a mess or is it ingenious?

Well, Cloud Atlas was a bit of a mess, but a wonderful one! <3 smile

Speaking as someone who read the book, I'm not sure if y'all have, but I HATED the movie... soooooo much!

Hehe... was it because it didn't align with what you imagined when reading the book? That can (more or less) ruin a movie for you... cool

That was a huge part of it but the book is so nuances... you would peal away section of it like an onion and the movie just couldn't capture that experience. Though, to be fair, it's a very difficult book to adapt (in my opinion).

Re: merc and TheFizza's off-topic discussion thread

@Fizza Cloud Atlas, the movie, I found to be quotable, scenic, and inspiring, but an uneven mess in the edit.  Mixed bag.

I have a Barney Stinson challenge for everyone, watch all of "How I met your Father".

Good luck.  So Bad.  32% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Re: merc and TheFizza's off-topic discussion thread

The commercials on Spotify for it are just brutal, but having not watched HIMYMother I wasn't sure if it was any worse than its predecessor.

If you're in the market for a good comedy though, https://next-episode.net/after-life just finished its final season and is quality throughout. Decidedly not-PG though.

How I Met Your Mother is a legacy classic that begs repeat viewing; very funny.  After Life?  Ok.  After I'm finished with Condor, spy thriller gem, can't believe I missed it, but glad I did so I can watch it now.
