I think enjoyment is the wrong word. Not every  things has to be a cosy safe experience. I just wonder what now. The show has been throwing out all the natural expectations, well atleast mine so I can not wait to see whats next, The suprising thing about this season is the way it keeps leaving lose ends, lots of them open to speculation, a bit disturbing yes

I think it's the perfect word... if you don't enjoy it, don't watch it. Of course you can also enjoy a horror movie or a drama (without feeling very joyful in the moment), or whatever this show does for you.

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

Idk, doing 'character building' with hallucinations is pretty much CW 101. Granted this was with a better actress but still. The only thing surprising about this show to me is how much it's avoided being yet another CW cliche. So when an episode fits right into that mold I'm disappointed in it.

Spoiler

well it is a good way for her to exit from the show? atleast for the moment. It had to be some thing really traumatic and what we saw fits the bill so just not just hallucinations for the sake of it, as an easy option. And it is Eclipso so appropriate, so it is not just a cliche. And at the end Bruce the kid /Eclipso is about to get to work on Beth

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

Spoiler

I feel like they could've done it with just the confessional scenes, the outbursts and maybe some flashes to the actual death - the old "show don't tell" adage. But yeah, Eclipso involvement brings its own lack of subtlety. At least it wasn't as ham-fisted as if it'd happened in Flash.

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

I was listening to a podcast hosted by some one who works on the show ( he does graphics work for them) and one interesting point about the drama in eps 7 that the show likes to keeps us guessing all the time

Spoiler

ie Yolanda's visions - are they just her having a mental break down due to her killing Brainwave or has Brainwave really done a body snatch on her or is it just Eclipso do his thing? We don't even know if she has gone for good. It would be great if Brainwave came back as he was a really great character

Thats why I think it is right as it stands.

https://stargirlaftershow.com/

One of the best podcasts of the show - they have intereviewed most of the actors who have given insgihts

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

esp 8 . Another shocking great eps.

Spoiler

Atleast Rick got the opportunity to kick the shit out of his nasty uncle, I was wondering when that was going to happen as he taunted Rick back in season 1 eps 3 was it?

only 5 to go , they seem to have gone so fast. The last one should be out about Halloween? Appropriate for that weirdo Eclipso. I understand that season 3 is in production at the moment and Yolanda is in it some how

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

That surprises you?

well harder to see how Rick can come back

Spoiler

as he destoryed the hour glass?

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

well eps 9 another "fun filled eps" Thats 3 in a row. If they are not careful the fans who liked season 1 will walk a way. It is nicely written and acted but not a bundle of laughs. Too late now as only a few eps left. I hope the sun breaks through soon

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

So I'm guessing from the

Spoiler

Mister Bones name drop

that S3 will have some

Spoiler

DEO stuff going on.

dont understand  either of those references

Anyway  eps 10 is a shocker leaving more questions to be answered

He's the skull head chainsmoking guy who runs the Department of Extranormal Operations. It's one of the million covert agencies in the comics.

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

well season 2 is over with an brilliant action packed eps 13. One of the best series that has retained its warmth inspite of a dark season; and season 3 now set up

Spoiler

to do with Green Lanterns daughter Jade and probably her brother, with the DEO visiting Blue Valley. We meet the Skull guy, Mister Bones and he looks real good for a bad guy

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

and the show did not slip into wokiness

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

I'll give you fair warning that Jade's brother Todd is gay in the comics. I know how that upsets folks around here roll

well I bet it wont figure in the story. no reason why it should, it is not that type of show? The closest thing we got to any luv was a small dalliance of Courtney with Icicles son which was over before it began

Spoiler

- it may though arise again in season 3 as season 2 ended with him having his families background being revealed to him by his grandparents, so it will create tension & conflicts. but it wont be there for for its own sake. Geoff Johns the creator is a story teller not a wokist propagandist unlike the writers of Supergirl in the later seasons which is why the series went downhill

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

That was a great season, loved how it grew the universe and dealt with darker themes but kept it's core... And I have 100% been waiting for Cindy & Artemis to join the JSA since they were introduced!

Can't wait for Frenemies in 2022!

yes all the new ( non main stream?) characters. shame  though we wont see creepy kid any more. he did a great job in the last eps. This was his  first major role I understand. Originally he was supposed to be there for just a couple of eps but Geoff Johns liked him so much he wrote  him in

This show must be unique in that the guy who created the title character is in control and I bet the CW committees wouldnt dare try and tell him how to do it

Now the season is over I will give it a rest for a month then over xmas do a binge

Yeah he was great too... And didn't hurt that it saved the PTB money to use the kid instead of an adult who sat for hours to get into makeup  wink

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

I had been puzzling why we didnt see much of Artemis Crock.  it seems the actor was mostly underage was not allowed to be present in many of the fight scenes. I think she has now got to the age where she can be used more.

There are a couple of podcasts that are useful to listen to. One produced by a graphics artist who works on the show which podcast has been interviewing the various actors over the two seasons ( Stargirl Aftershow ), the last eps 13 interviewed Milo Stein the Creepy Kid himself who came across as very mature for his age ( I never was at that age) & the other one Starguys a more fun ( some times rude) show whose contributors know alot of the comic backstories Both are useful for pointing out details easily overlooked eg

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

So season 3 is here. Eps 1 felt a bit uncomfortable with the reinventing of the bad guys?

Spoiler

I  was starting to get worried with that gushing sentimental Gambler - started to puke. oh he just got killed

Re: Stargirl [Action, Adventure, Crime]

I was super bored by that premiere. You'd think they'd want to grab our attention considering what thin ice DC shows are on these days.
