scorpius074 wrote:Brooklyn Nine-Nine (NBC) [Ending in 2021-22 Season] Brooklyn Nine-Nine is ending once again, along with the show’s chances of a ninth season. The workplace comedy series initially ran for five seasons on FOX before being cancelled, and then revived by NBC. Now, after three seasons on the peacock network, the show will end again. A premiere date has not been announced but the eighth and final season has been delayed until the 2021-22 season, following coronavirus production shutdowns.
This now needs to be canceled Comment from IMDB: I watched season 8's first episode on a whim and it is vomit inducing.
I tolerated it till 12th minute before turning it off.

Yes, the first episode of season 8 was very bad. It did not need to be made like that, completely ruined it. Episode 2 was better

I've never watched this series before, but after what you guys said I had to see it. I like it. Except for the extremely awkward "support" of the Black characters. Oh, dear. But I like Diaz! Which means another series for my watchlist, dammit.

‘Everything’s Gonna Be Okay’: Freeform Cancels Josh Thomas Comedy Series After Two SeasonsThe second season of Freeform comedy Everything’s Gonna Be Okay will be its last, the network has confirmed. Creator-star Josh Thomas made the announcement via Twitter earlier this evening—thanking Freeform, who he said has been “a dream to work with – so cool and open and sincerely progressive. “I’m so grateful we got a platform to make this show,” he added. “I love them and they are obsessed with me, I hope we get another chance to work together.” Thomas also sent out “an extra super special thanks” to his cast, writers and crew, who he called “talented, kind and passionate. “We made the second season at the peak of the pandemic and everyone did such a beautiful job of keeping each other safe and happy and sometimes dancing,” he wrote. “If any of these people ask you for a job, I highly recommend you say yes. “Thanks everyone!” he said in closing. “This show has been such a special experience – I got to learn so much about the world and myself while making it. You can watch both seasons now on Hulu in the US and Stan Australia.”

S01-S06 are great. Then another studio took over and this latest S08 is the culmination, so to not ruin a good impression I simply won't watch it at all. And what "support", every single character there is awkward, that's the whole point.

You have a mix-up of two shows with exactly the same name. Your link describes an Irish show about a Dublin family in a feud with Irish gangs. It can be found at: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13444408 The Next-Episode "Kin" https://next-episode.net/kin is a US show, set in Florida. It's described in https://deadline.com/tag/kin/ It doesn't seem to be listed with IMDb. Looking at IMDb's page for the source of the story, Russ Cundiff, yields his data: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0192096 But this has no mention of any show titled "Kin", so I'm guessing it never got into production far enough to be added to the IMDb.

Re: Ending or Canceled TV Shows for the 2023-24 Season
The Outpost: Cancelled; No Season Four (or Five) for CW Fantasy SeriesTalon’s fight is nearly over. The CW has cancelled The Outpost TV series so it won’t have a fourth season (or a fifth season, depending on your numbering preference). The series finale airs on October 7th. An adventure-fantasy drama series, The Outpost stars Jessica Green, Jake Stormoen, Imogen Waterhouse, Anand Desai-Barochia, Aaron Fontaine, Adam Johnson, Izuka Hoyle, and Jaye Griffiths. The story centers on Talon (Green), the lone survivor of the “Blackbloods” race. When she was still a child, a ruthless mercenary gang slaughtered her entire village. Now that she has come of age, Talon has come into a mysterious power. In season three, Talon finds herself betrayed by her own kind, after summoning Zed and his Blackblood comrades to save the Outpost. She struggles to reconcile her human friends and her heritage. The extended third season of The Outpost averages a 0.06 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 397,000 viewers. Compared to season two, that’s down by 50% in the demo and down by 33% in viewership. The cancellation doesn’t exactly come as a surprise. Here’s why. The network ordered 13 additional episodes for the third season prior to season three’s October 2020 launch. The CW then split up the third season into two parts with a six-month break. The second batch premiering in July. A little over a month ago, a CW representative confirmed to us that the second batch of episodes was still considered as part of season three. However, on Twitter, executive producers Jonathan Glassner and Dean Devlin have both referred to the current episodes as season four. In addition, even The CW’s own streaming platform refers to the current episodes as season four. If the show had had a chance of being renewed for an actual fourth season, the network would have made an effort for everyone to be on the same page about the numbering. It seems likely that, when the final 13 episodes were ordered, it had already been decided that they would end the show.

Alena Smith, the series’ creator, writer and executive producer, has an exclusive multiyear deal with Apple TV+ and is developing a slate of TV projects for the streamer. “When I set out to make Dickinson, I envisioned the show as a three-season journey that would tell the origin story of America’s greatest female poet in a whole new way, highlighting Emily’s relevance and resonance to our society today,” she said. “In my wildest dreams, I could never have imagined how rich and satisfying the experience of making this show would become, and the incredible joy it has been to tell Emily’s story along with Hailee and our brilliant, passionate cast and crew. I can’t wait to share our epic final season with the world, and to bring our audience along with us to the conclusion of Emily’s coming-of-age saga, as she continues to fight for her own poetic truth, while reckoning with so many of the issues that face us now.”

Completely disagree with you and g371... I mean art is subjective and all but I loved this and all seasons of The Nine-Nine... I thought the pivot for this year was great, if a little heavy-handed. And I'm super sad to see the series go. I think someone on NPR said, 'If they just come back for Halloween Heist Specials for ever, they'd tune in.' And so would I... R.I.P. squad!

A story of survival and transcendence, it’s told through the eyes of Del Harris (Daniels). He’s the complicated (and compromised) chief of police of a Pennsylvania Rust Belt town that’s full of good people making bad choices. While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. “We can confirm that American Rust will not be moving forward with a second season,” read a Showtime statement to TribLive. “We would like to thank our partners at Boat Rocker, our talented showrunner Dan Futterman and the rest of the wonderful writers, and our amazing cast led by Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney.” A reader of this site named “Pete”, who says they worked on payroll for the show in Pittsburgh, commented yesterday that there had been efforts to sell the show to another outlet. TribLive notes that “producers may try to shop the series to other outlets but the odds of salvation seem slim.”

Re: Ending or Canceled TV Shows for the 2023-24 Season
Beauty and the Beast: Filming of Disney+ Prequel Series Cancelled, At Least For NowThe Beauty and the Beast prequel series isn’t happening, at least right now. There were plans to film the live-action Disney+ TV show this summer but they’ve now been cancelled and the series has been postponed indefinitely. The project was to star Luke Evans and Josh Gad reprising their roles from the 2017 Beauty and the Beast feature film. Briana Middleton, Fra Fee, Rita Ora, and Jelani Alladin were also cast in lead roles for the show. Ordered in June 2021, the prequel series was to be set in the iconic kingdom, years before the Beast and Belle’s epic romance. The story follows Gaston (Evans) and LeFou (Gad) as they set off with LeFou’s stepsister, Tilly (Middleton). After a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, the unlikely trio sets off on an unexpected journey filled with romance, comedy, and adventure. While the mysteries of the past are uncovered and the dangers of the present grow, old friends and new enemies reveal that this familiar kingdom harbors many secrets. Deadline reports that the reason for the cancellation of filming was made for creative reasons and scripts and original music wouldn’t be ready in time to shoot this summer. Filming had already been delayed from a spring schedule and delaying production until fall wasn’t an option because of talent availability and weather concerns. The series was to be filmed in Europe and Disney didn’t want to film the musical series in gloomy weather. The Beauty and the Beast prequel was developed and written by Gad and Once Upon a Time creators Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. The trio was to also serve as executive producers and co-showrunners. Alan Menken was set to write the music and executive produce. Deadline reports that Disney intends to continue working on the series and it likely will eventually be made. It’s unknown if the current cast or creative team will continue to be involved. On Twitter, Gad wrote, “Sadly, ‘Tis true. We tried to make it all work but under the gun it wasn’t meant to be… for now. These characters and this story will live on, but sometimes the best intentions & reality collide & nothing can be done.” He added, “But… we truly hope we get to make it when our schedules allow.” Evans added, “This is a very sad message for us to tweet. We are devastated. Goodbye, for now, from Gaston and Le fou”

The fourth season, which has already been filmed, will be the last for the comedy-drama and the final episodes will air this fall. Season three arrives on FX on March 25th. Per The Wrap, FX chairman John Landgraf said the following about the series at the TCA’s: “For the first time Atlanta will stream the next day on Hulu. The fourth and final season is slated to debut in the same manner this fall. The new season is everything you’ve come to expect from Atlanta, which is to say, expect the unexpected. Sit back and enjoy the trip.” Donald Glover, creator, and star of the drama, also spoke about ending the FX series: “To be honest, I wanted to end it after Season 2. I feel like when the conditions are right for something, they happen. And when the conditions aren’t right for it, they don’t happen. I feel like the story was always supposed to be what it was. It really was us. Like everybody in that writers room, everybody on set… it really was what we were going through and what we talked about. That’s the only way I like to make things. I think it ended perfectly.”

Promised Land: Cancelled? ABC Series Being Pulled and Moved to Hulu, Replaced by The Good DoctorIt doesn’t look like the Sandoval family’s troubles will have a second season. ABC is dropping the Promised Land TV series after next week’s fifth episode. The Good Doctor will return to its Monday night timeslot on February 28th, weeks earlier than planned. [...] The first season of Promised Land averages a 0.19 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 1.72 million viewers in the live+same day ratings (including DVR playback through 3:00 AM). It’s ABC’s lowest-rated scripted series of the season and last night’s episode hit a new low with a 0.15 demo and 1.54 million. While the show does pick up viewers in the delayed viewing, the drama continues to be a very low-rated show. Production on the show’s 10-episode season will be completed and the remaining episodes will be released each week on Hulu. Episode six will be released on Hulu on March 1st. As to the chances of a second season, Deadline lists the series as cancelled. “Promised Land is a beautifully executed and tremendously entertaining series of which everyone at our company is extremely proud,” an ABC rep said in a statement to TVLine. “We know it has a passionate audience that is very invested in this show, and those viewers will be able to stream all subsequent episodes exclusively on Hulu every Tuesday for the rest of the season.”

Re: Ending or Canceled TV Shows for the 2023-24 Season
‘Archive 81’ Canceled By Netflix After One SeasonNetflix has opted not to move forward with a second season of Archive 81, Deadline has learned. The news comes two months after the Jan. 14 debut of the horror drama starring Mamoudou Athie and Dina Shihabi. The cancellation is somewhat surprising because Archive 81 did break into Nielsen and Netflix’s weekly Top 10 ratings for originals, and it also briefly shot to No. 1 on Netflix in the U.S. before being dethroned by the return of Ozark. With the streamer laser-focused on analyzing viewing versus cost in its renewal decisions, the number of eyeballs Archive 81 drew possibly did not meet the threshold Netflix had set for the series based on its budget. Archive 81, based on the supernatural horror podcast and produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster, was written and executive produced by Rebecca Sonnenshine, who made her debut as a showrunner on the series. In Archive 81, when archivist Dan Turner (Athie) takes a mysterious job restoring a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994, he finds himself reconstructing the work of documentary filmmaker Melody Pendras (Shihabi) and her investigation into a dangerous cult. As Dan is drawn into Melody’s story, he becomes convinced he can save her from the terrifying end she met 25 years ago. This marked Athie’s third Netflix project, following Uncorked and The Getdown. He next will be seen in the tentpole feature Jurassic World Dominion. Meanwhile, Shihabi’s next project is with Netflix, as a series regular on the upcoming Painkiller. Stranger Things director Rebecca Thomas helmed half the series and executive produced the series with Sonnenshine. Paul Harris Boardman served as writer and executive producer. Wan and Michael Clear served as executive producers for Atomic Monster. Rob Hackett was a co-executive producer.

‘Maury’ To End After Three Decades: NBCUniversal Confirms Host’s “Bittersweet” Retirement – UpdateUPDATE SUNDAY AM: NBCUniversal on Sunday confirmed that its daytime syndicated talk show Maury will be wrapping with the current season, saying that it was a mutual decision between the studio and veteran host Maury Povich to end the talker made when Maury was most recently renewed in 2020 through the 2021-22 season. “Maury and I decided two years ago that this season would be the farewell season for the show, and while his retirement is bittersweet, we are so happy for him to be able to spend more time on the golf course,” Tracie Wilson, EVP, NBCUniversal Syndication Studios, said in a statement to Deadline. “Maury is a television icon, a pop culture legend and we couldn’t be more proud to have been a part of his incredible career.” Povich traced the end of his long-running show further back. “Six years ago when I was ready to retire, my the NBCUniversal family asked me to continue the show,” he said. “Even though I told them I was ready for assisted living, out of loyalty to NBCUniversal and my more than 100 staff and crew members, Tracie Wilson and I agreed to one more deal. I’m so proud of my relationship with NBCUniversal and all those who worked on the Maury show but as I occasionally tell my guests on Maury, ‘Enough, already!'” PREVIOUS SATURDAY: Another syndicated daytime talk show is coming to an end: NBCUniversal’s veteran tabloid talker Maury, hosted and executive produced by Maury Povich. The show will end original productions at the end of this season, when Povich plans to retire. Original episodes will air through September, after which repeats of Maury will continue to air in syndication. This is the second NBCUniversal syndicated daytime program to call it quits this spring, joining Judge Jerry. Other syndicated daytime talk shows that recently got canceled include Sony TV’s The Good Dish as well as Debmar-Mercury’s Nick Cannon and The Wendy Williams Show, the latter to be replaced by a new talker, Sherri. The Maury Povich Show was launched in 1991 by Paramount Domestic Television. It shortened its name to Maury in the mid-1990s. In 1998, Studio USA took over the program. The company was subsequently acquired by NBCUniversal. Maury, whose cancelation was first reported by Broadcasting & Cable, is executive produced by Paul Faulhaber. It is distributed in national syndication by Syndication Studios and produced by Stamford Media Center Productions. ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ Ending For Now; Sherri Shepherd Syndicated Talker To Replace It In Fall 2022

scorpius074 wrote:Crystal Moselle’s series Betty has been cancelled by HBO, Deadline has confirmed. “We will not be moving forward with a third season of BETTY,” the network said in a statement. “We are very grateful for the collaboration with Crystal and our incredible cast — their fearless exploration of the world of New York City’s skate culture will remain a beautiful emblem of friendship and community.” Betty was a teen comedy based on Moselle’s acclaimed 2018 film, Skate Kitchen. It centered on a diverse group of young women navigating their lives through the predominantly male-oriented world of skateboarding. The series starred Dede Lovelace, Kabrina Adams, Nina Moran, Ajani Russell, Rachelle Vinberg, Alexander Cooper, Katerina Tannenbaum, and more, airing for 12 episodes in total. It returned for its second season in June, after debuting on HBO in May of last year. Moselle directed each episode of the show and exec produced with Igor Srubshchik, Jason Weinberg and Alliah Mourad. Source
Really sad to find this out... Betty was an authentic, interesting and well balanced series... hell, it was fire!
