Re: War of the Worlds (2019) [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi]
Okay, I'll address the elephant in the room; any thoughts on what might take place in Season 3?
▼Spoiler
Finished season 2 today. Lovely! I'm actually surprised that there is a season 3! Positively surprised, of course.

Re: War of the Worlds (2019) [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi]
Thanks. I've heard bad things about how Epix treats us "one (month) and done" customers, Who can afford to keep paying for all those streaming channels.
After watching this last episode on Saturday, July 31, I went to cancel. In the process I was offered 2 months of epix channel at $2.99 per month which I accepted only because they seem to have a nice selection of programs and that won't break the bank. It's cancel anytime, now or later.
It really frustrated me that the times and dates it aired were not available here. I tried figuring that out myself and first thought it was on Sundays then checking again on a Saturday found that it was the day.
I can't remember when off-hand but they skipped a week, didn't air the program. I couldn't think of a good reason for it except extending my monthly paid subscription a little farther.
All-in-all the show's not good enough to carve a dent in my little budget like that. There's a season 3 coming, whoopee-do.
War of the World's is/was ok but nothing to write home about.

I enjoyed War of the Worlds. It's certainly better than quite a few of the other shows I watch. But I'm not sure where they will go with it in season 3.

Re: War of the Worlds (2019) [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi]
First episodes of the new season look good, tho need to rewatch the last episode of the previous season, I'm having hard time following what exactly is going on and parts in French language also don't help.
Re: War of the Worlds (2019) [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi]
Wow, 3x1 was really good! Better than I had expected.
And the last few seconds...

ah I have just started watching this , seeing it reported here. It is better than that other show - called "Invasion" wasn't it? Atleast we SEE the nasty buggers. It makes sense send some small android devices to clean up any resistance.

Invasion was a specific alien themed drama. This is more classic sci-fi, but also has a strange-ish feel to it since it's French production. First seasons I remember as meh-ish, S03 so far feels the best with a lot of action.

The only issue with season 1. All this walking, I would have found a bicycle.....

Re: War of the Worlds (2019) [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi]
onto season 2. oh what a dispointment.
so now have finished all the eps. I feel season 2 spent too much time faffing around. Any feel they did not expect a season 3? Season 3 was added on as and afterthought?

S03E03, yeah, why would I need to know what's up with these sick people, apspriediet to franču valodā. Btw, have you noticed that there is not only Mexican filter, but also a UK filter - every single series filmed in UK are blue/gray-ish

Hehe... but it's true, a day in the UK can feel really bleak: just add autumn or winter and maybe a bit of rain...

My guess is that they intentionally didn't try to explain all of that, because with time travel, stories/ explanations can get messy quicker than you can say "Oops, I just accidentally killed my great-grandpa in his youth!"
Primer (2004) is perfect to visualize this:

Re: War of the Worlds (2019) [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi]
I binge watched Season 3, ahead of the release dates using Canadian CBC Gem app and it's premium 1 month trial.
Excellent Season 2 time travel paradox, Emily colonizing a world by traveling in a ship built by Emilians and good acting.
Gabriel Byrne excels at moody troubled characters. I thought season 2 was a great finale and was pleasantly surprised to have season 3. The only fail is the idea of the two astronauts keeping secrets from mission control and perhaps the physics of black hole vs wormhole. I doubt that would be possible. There's no real privacy on a government owned space craft and if your on a Bezos owned ship, ditto.
For season 4, we could have the 2 astronauts rescued in a new future alternate world or they could explain how just two people could create a technologically advanced fanatic society. I guess tech in the ship helped. Emily had many kids but died relatively young due to bad genes or Bill's actions. Sociopathic father Sacha raised the kids for those who haven't puzzled things out. Sacha may have used tech on the ship to extract/preserve and use her ovaries. If so, Emily and Sacha clones are possible.

Ok but can you explain this:
If Emily and that creep boyfriend of hers where the original seeds to the race of humans in space that came back from the future, how did those humans get here with those ships in the first place meaning how did they get out into space before the Emily story so that they could come back and kill billions of humans on earth? Did they come from another reality via a black hole? They never explained this.
Bill figures out that they are from the future but how did they get there i.e. on that planet they showed? Wouldn't there have to be some point in time where humans built those ships on earth and left to explore space, find and occupy that planet and then at some point in the future they figure out how to time travel to the past?

There's both a time travel and alternate universe concept at play which is mentioned in season 3. You have to suspend disbelief to really enjoy any good SF or fantasy. I find it more fun to speculate away any points which don't seem well explained. A show can get dull if over explained. You replied very quickly! I was still editing and revising my post so take another look at the finished version.
There's nothing to indicate the ships were made on earth.
An even bigger stretch, is that particle beam exposure and slipping into a coma lands you safely across the blackhole, on that 2nd furture alternate devastated earth.
Normally they'd needed a large population to have created such ships or with a smaller population, the colony world would have alien tech they could learn from. With the time loop and causality, the colony began with the single safely landed Emily/Sacha ship which originated from their own future!

The REAL ALIENS are those two astronauts, real weird looking as if from the Midwich Cuckoos.

Lukas Haas played astronaut Richard and was the Amish kid in my favorite Harrison Ford film, Witness (1985). He looked weird then, still does and is now perhaps too chubby to be in the space program. I guess they do let chubby guys go to space if they have the experience and specialized skillset under their belt. Lizzie Brocheré played Juliet.
Re: War of the Worlds (2019) [Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi]
My favorite scene from S02E08
00:07:25
(Emily wakes up on ship. Sacha recently killed her mother in order to get help from one of their descendants for Emily recovering from viral reaction. Bill created and she voluntarily took the virus which will have a cascade reaction on her progeny.)
(TEARFULLY) Leave me alone.
-We're gonna die on this ship.
-At least we’ll be together.
00:07:30
You think we're gonna be together?
I hate you.
00:07:37,440 --> 00:07:40,240
We have time, Emily.
We have plenty of time.
