I don't know whose pet, it was just an idea... We don't see much of their lives at home, but someone, somewhere, probably has a pet!

Oh.
Okay. Ep1x11 was good to see it dealt with a lead character and Debris tech issue that had stakes. Kinda everything I said I wanted last post. ▼Spoiler Lighton: In Ep1x11, was it a memory she was replaying for Bryan or was it time travel?

Re: Debris
I loved how Erin Karpluk (the lead from Being Erica) was the guest-star for the episode where Brian gets flashbacks (and some long overdue character development). It's almost endearing. That being said, Brian's fake beard was soooooooo distracting.

Agreed, I actually switched it off halfway through. Very poor.
DRM "manages access" in the same way that Prison "manages freedom". http://xkcd.com/488/

I've learned to multitask because Debris is so boring, so, I'm always gaming while I'm watching this show. Divide your attention, and it's tolerable. And ya, that beard was laughable! I like this kind of psychological Debris tech stuff though, kinda outer limits/twilight zone esque for me. There's been worse. If you go to this post of mine, I said "The worst is when they've taken footage somewhere along the Fraser River Valley, and call it Afghanistan", and Ep1x11 of Debris they did EXACTLY THAT!!!! GOT 'EM!!

This probably will make me seem cra but I use a player which allows you to throttle the speed of the program you're watching. That way if I get bored I can just speed up the play to something like 1.25 or 1.5 speed. I honestly couldn't watch The Flash at regular speed, I would go mad! Yes, I could just stop watching like Wizard but I'm kind of addicted

Wow, I never do that to a show! Sure, I might check the weather forecast or emails on my phone for a few moments, but when a show is so boring that I want to read news articles while it's on, that's a clear sign that I should consider dropping the show. paisley1 wrote:If you go to this post of mine, I said "The worst is when they've taken footage somewhere along the Fraser River Valley, and call it Afghanistan", and Ep1x11 of Debris they did EXACTLY THAT!!!! Nice one! It didn't look too bad to me... it's not like they have access to the largest and most sophisticated virtual filmmaking environment yet made (that was used for The Mandalorian), so this was a good compromise. Better than using a random gravel pit again and again (yes, I'm looking at you, https://next-episode.net/killjoys! ) Btw, I've edited your post before quoting it. It now links directly to the post, so people don't have to search for it in the thread.

Thanks. Usually puzzle games or card games are a good distraction, not like an RPG where I have to focus, and ya, the Afghanistan location was appropriate for the show; no one but me would ever notice it or think twice about it, I just find it really funny that I posted this very thing in February, and 3 months later Debris did exactly what I said!

I just fast forward 30 sec. over boring parts, have watched half of The Walking Dead that way. Tho this show is fine. I multitask more or less almost always while watching TV. For example solve Rubik's cube

Re: Debris
More than a decade ago, when streaming was recognized as the coming thing bit bandwidth available could not yet support, one network seriously discussed streaming five minute versions of 40-50 minute shows because you could get all the essential plot points and explosions into five minutes. Studio suits thought differently and quietly killed further work in this area. Meanwhile, fans short of time to view entire seasons of old shows solved the problem illegally by creating those five minute condensations as well as similar ones, lasting 30 minutes or so, for entire seasons. The impact of these summaries was later studied by the studios and it was could that viewing the illegal summaries increased use of legal streaming services to view complete episodes and seasons. Some of those summaries are probably still out there.

▼Spoiler Is it though? a different role I mean. Didn't the Walter of the parallel universe play a similar role? Or has it been so long that I'm confusing stuff?

No idea... I lost interest and stopped watching that show before season 2 ended. HomerS wrote:Nice episode and the Particle Man looked great, made me stop doing other things while watching it.

Re: Debris
Debris cancelled, and good riddance. https://deadline.com/2021/05/debris-can … 234765714/ One of the few shows I can stomach these days, yet I have no complaints about its cancellation as nothing advanced the plot sufficiently or humanized the characters adequately enough for me to care. Great decision by NBC. Anyone remember when I said this: The subject and production of Debris is as interesting as Fringe, B+, but with less interesting characters/actors, D-, than Fringe, so it's a C, which is 6.5/10. Audiences tune into a show for the characters they resonate with, and if that's absent, then the story has to be amazing, and if the pilot, which is supposed to be a tent pole that holds up the season, is only a 6.5/10, or a C, this may get cancelled.
Lighton: You should try Fringe again, there are so many great episodes you've missed if you only lasted to mid way through season 2. A lot of heart felt moments you'd enjoy. Imadsani, not that it matters anymore, but Walternate is nothing like Otto, if anything, Otto is a bit like regular Walter in the sense that there's science and technology involved. Also, I was right about the Debris tech cloning Lighton! Compare this post, to what George Jones said in 1x13. I was more right than I thought! ▼Spoiler ...the debris tech for cloning separates a different characteristic of a persons life experience or personality trait into each clone, so cool, but it isn't expanded upon, the cloning is simply left as a reason for Finola's father, George Jones being alive. I assume everyone caught that, if you didn't, uh, spoiler, lol. I surmise that the long boring talks in this episode and backstory that Finola gives about her dad and watching him die, was specific to the debris tech in this episode like a clone that said, "You're not alone", and not her real dad who we know is still alive (or vice versa). The problem, if either of those options are the case, is that I don't care enough about these characters at all for that to be intriguing, as they've led us to care more about the tech, than human stories of connection, overcoming adversity, or the heroes journey. If they told this episode through backstory, that is, actually showing a glimpse of what the father-daughter relationship was like in the past, then flipping to the present, I'd care far more, as this is a visual medium, I need to actually see the relationship to care about it, not just overhear it. I think the shadowy CIA/FBI/DoD/NSA characters talking in the hanger about "what we're trying to build", just comes off flat and uninteresting when I think it's supposed to be conspiratorial and intriguing, and it's not. Got 'em!

Joel Wyman said he'll shop this to other networks to make season 2, so you never know, but I think Debris is dead. It's great that you're going to give Fringe another chance. Sending positivity and good vibes your way....enjoy! As for calling this entire show from the pilot, I just understand TV too well; if that skill applied to lotteries and if people bet on TV like they bet on sports I'd be a gazillionaire by now!
