I might in the future... A year (or two) ago the trailer for https://next-episode.net/the-leftovers didn't resonate with me, so I didn't start watching the show. Recently it did, so I'm now watching it.
Yeh took me also 2 tries for the leftovers but was also glad i watched that.

Seems so, my list is what I decide to archive. Can be a running show as well. Funny comedies age well.

But Breaking Bad is on every best TV shows list, on a lot of them as #1. That said, I still have not seen The Games of Thrones

i was only wondering if it was canceled, as you only wrote (2019) instead of (2019-)

Re: Is rewatching old TV good for the soul?
I know this is going to sound cliched and I was never really into the show when it on the air. I did watch it but not with the fervour right now. The pandemic has led to more spare time lounging around and so I've noticed myself gravitating more and more towards Friends and The Big Bang Theory(I used to detest this show). I always have the TV on Comedy Central(Poland for some reason - thank God the shows are in English), they're always running a combo of Friends and TBBT and I swear I feel these two shows have gotten me through the pandemic. The funny thing is, I won't stream them but I sure as hell will switch back to Comedy Central hoping they're on.

Watched it, a great show, shame that they canceled just after 1 season when they resumed it in 2019 for S04 - amazing how they managed to get cast back together after 12 years. Also in this show you can see many actors who later on got big roles in other shows.

For some reason I can't explain I have started watching Murdoch Mysteries from S1. I have already watched S11 up to S14 with 3 episodes to go in S14 but decided to go back and start from the beginning. There is something about the show that keeps me watching it and I can't really explain what it is

Re: Is rewatching old TV good for the soul?
I love rewatching stuff. Mainly with someone else. I used to do a TV night with my dad when I lived with him and it's carried on once a week and with COVID and nothing new coming out he wanted to watch I decided to show him Supernatural and it was actually so nice rewatching 15 years of it in less than a year with him. I think it depends on what you're watching and who you're watching it with. Whether by yourself or with a partner or a friend.

Sorry Moze, I forgot to respond and say I totally agree with you on this, David Hewlett is amazing and I wish he was cast in Debris instead of the guy who played Brian. I always get distracted in my attempts to marathon Stargate Atlantis for some reason, but it's on the to do list.

I have just finished rewatching Marvel's Agents of Shield. What a wonderful imaginative series that really was. So yes some programmes are worthy of watching again. ( many aint - like Marvel's Inhumans)

That was a very interesting piece, not exactly what I was expecting... so, I have a question: Has anyone else feel less-and-less interested in re-watching series, or even singular episodes, the older you get (time not withstanding)?

Yep. Most shows I don't re-watch at all, but the ones I really like, I might do a couple re-watches then put them away for a long time. That said, I marathoned all of Firefly while playing The Outer Worlds a couple weeks ago though, so some shows, never will I ever stop watching. Re-watchable old shows are enjoyed more like old music on the radio; nostalgic ambience. Why do you ask? You don't seem like the type to re-watch TV in the first place. What's your #1 favorite show, and when's the last time you re-watched it?

I was just wondering how other folks do... I used to rewatch all of my favorite shows, like Firefly and Star Trek: TNG even old anime I liked as a kid (yeah Macross Saga) but a few years back I started to do that less-and-less... really the only classic show I ever rewatch now is DS9 though occasionally I'll rewatch an Ep of a recent show I really like before the next Ep comes out... I wonder if it's just there's so much to watch now that it seems like a waste of time or that because I'm older I just don't have the interest in seeing something again... or maybe there's a reason I haven't thought of. Whatever the reason the last series I rewatched was GoT right before the last season aired. lighton wrote:No. I never was a fan of re-watching series.
Ah, well I used to re-watch a lot especially for shows I really loved like Buffy but these days the only re-watch on occasion and only new shows/episodes... like I might rewatch a new Ep of Young Justice or Legends but no more rewatching The West Wing or TNG for me

Great list of shows. Firefly and Star Trek (TNG, DS9, Voyager), have tapped into the point of the article that this thread is about, they're shows that in spite of age, you just want to keep watching over and over and over again because they have a kind of universality and eternal enjoyment about them. Firefly is so iconic and such a cultural phenom that it's the inspiration behind Firefly Aerospace. Why less and less? I think you've just seen them too many times and know what's going to happen and the thrill is gone, and they've fallen out of fashion with you because your tastes have refined as you've seen new content, and now you want a new thrill. My #1 favourite show is LOST, and the last time I re-watched the entire series was in 2015. No desire for that right now. Re-watching old shows for me right now is more about revisiting inspired moments again. Clips. Scenes. Quotes. "So here's us, on the raggedy edge." and... "I have to get my honour back, and that's what I'm running to." And finding new ones like 1883, which is filled with inspired moments: ▼Spoiler "I'm in here looking for a reason. You want to be my reason?"

Well observed paisley1 and well put... you may be correct, because right now I'm all for positive and lighthearted (or as you put it inspired) moments, like with Not Going Out (which I just discovered). Also, should've known anyone whose avatar is the great Brisco County Jr, would have a wise word or two

Re: Is rewatching old TV good for the soul?
@TheFizza Glad I could help. Positive TV, absolutely, but I think you have the wrong idea about what I mean by inspired, as it doesn't mean lighthearted or silly to me at all, like 'Not Going Out', as inspired is closer to emotionally gripping and emotionally stirring, heartwarming, and uplifting. ie, BSG Exodus Part 2 end scene with Bill and Lee, goosebumps, that's it! @Lighton So good for the soul! Just like rewatching old movies are good for the soul like The Shawshank Redemption is all one long inspired moment: "I find I'm so excited I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it's the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey, who's conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend and shake his hand. I hope the pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope." That inspired moment will have currency forever; that's what I mean.

I get you, more like how the All Creatures Great and Small Christmas Special might make one feel... still, I have to admit for me watching a lighthearted, even zany, series can produce uplifting feelings. Perhaps its more a feeling that in a world that produces this is a beautiful place after all, kinda thing
