Why does everything have to be explained as soon as possible. Why can't people wait and let the mystery build up. I feel that todays teens and twenty somethings couldn't bare with Twin Peaks today, or even Lost.

Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

That's the problem with this show though, the background is entirely irrelevant to the plot.

The sitcom tributes, whilst clever, and faithfully reproduced, have been entirely unnecessary from the point of view of the narrative. They feel more like a device that has allowed Disney to make (and sell) 4.5 hours of prime time TV out of an hour's worth (at most) of script.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I respect it but I saw this differently. Those old shows are not just a tribute. There is something more, something bigger. There is a reason why Wanda want's to live in old sitcom world when all that she ever cared about is gone. Maybe that is what she watched as a kid and feels safe in that world. We really don't know until the last episode.

Re: WandaVision

Whatever happened to the journey being more important than the destination? a lot of people seem to just want TV that throws away the journey and just delivers a season finale in the first episode.

Too much freakin Tik Tok and watching TV whilst playing with the mobile phone at the same time, nobody has the patience or attention span anymore to let story tellers tell a story.

...Damn I'm feeling old, complaining about the younger generation

No! Don't disagree with people here, you'll get called either a fanboy or a hater.

2020.  Meh.

Re: WandaVision

Well, I'm really liking WandaVision so far, and I know I probably stand alone on a desert island that way, but I enjoy it when Level 5 super mutants have a nervous breakdown and create their own sitcom world to deal with their PTSD and to protect themselves from further pain.  Relatable.  That's what it is.

I've now watched everything including 1x7. And yes, the first 3 episodes were somewhat painful to watch.

It's a good show, but far from awesome IMHO. Folks under 30 like it best. (Is it because of the huge amount of special effects?) Interestingly, that's the opposite of Messiah, where average ratings increased with viewership age (and which I liked a lot more).

Re: WandaVision

Was hoping it was a one-off series leading to other things as it went back downhill after ep 4. Oh well, at least the eps are short even if they feel like they take hours.

Spoiler

Unclear to me why they're going the white Vision route from 80s Avengers when those were terrible the first time around. Could easily have gone straight to her having a breakdown from realizing the kids aren't real. Now we'll likely be stuck with a season of her trying to get Vision's feels back.

Re: WandaVision

I accidently noticed that they do have post credits scenes now, not in the first 6 episodes but in the two last recent ones.

Dear Marvel: either have post credit scenes in all episodes or in none but dont mix it please, thank you and good night.

Re: WandaVision

Really liked the last episode (#8) mostly since it gave 0 screen time to the garbage they present as FBI(including the computer geek stereotype).

I'm kinda curious to find out which direction they will move the story from here on out.

Re: WandaVision

Hmm, I thought last ep was the finale but evidently there's another. I take back my grousing but reserve the right to reinstate it

I guess because the MCU doesn't stray too far from ideas in the comics...

Spoiler

... and this resurrects Vision for future MCU movies duty, whilst still allowing WandaVision to have further self-contained seasons that dont impinge on the overall time-line too much - like following the House of M storyline would!

Thanks for sharing, would have missed those!

I totally agree. smile

Two Witches? Seriously?  This episode turned me off.  There are too many witch shows out there as it is.  Science Fiction is fine, fantasy fiction is boring.

Re: WandaVision

I'm still waiting for it to "gel".  It has the feel of a screenwriter waking up to a 24-hour deadline and desperately trying to come up with something to fill 20ish minutes.

And for the one who said, "It's not like you have invested money in the show...": As a paying Disney+ subscriber, I actually do. roll

I really object to the approximately 10% of the time being taken by credits in umpteen languages (bragging about world reach?) -- that may, or may not, have a few moments of significant "nugget".   mad

Hehe, that feels true a little bit. big_smile

Curious to see what comes next though!

EDIT: Funny... not even 30 minutes after posting I see this on the IMDb site:

Producer Kevin Feige has teased that the series will connect directly into 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness— is it too much to hope that the good doctor makes a house call in Westview?

Now that would be cool! smile

Following the Secret Defenders storyline perhaps?

The team had all sorts of members aside from Doc Strange & Scarlet Witch that could draw in all sorts of recent Marvel Big & Small screen IP that has been interrupted by Disney buying up everything:

Hulk
Ghost Rider
Drax (from Guardians)
Luke Cage
Deadpool
Iron Fist
Wolverine
Silver Surfer
War Machine

Re: WandaVision

This is a personal point of view, and I don't expect everyone to agree!

A disappointing season for me. It did little more than act as a placeholder for MCU in the public's consciousness.

It did its job of reintroducing a version of Vision to the MCU, should he be needed, and leaving Scarlet Witch more powerful than ever for whatever they have in store for her, but the season itself was pretty forgettable, and the tribute to sitcoms idea turned out to be a gimmick rather than an essential element of the entertainment.

A 105 minute movie stretched into 6 hours of TV.

I give the season a solid Meh! out of 10.

Re: WandaVision

I'm happy with the show doing what it was meant to do. I have seen some movies where half of it was very slow and I thought some of the information could have been put into a prequel TV show, I feel this is what these MCU shows are. (side note) Just like season 4 of westworld I felt could have been a TV movie setting up a real season 3.

I do agree that most of it will be forgettable barring the pieces of info and characters we need in upcoming films.

I know people hate this sentence, but I am a big comic fan, so I quite like all the little hints of things to (possibly) come.

Spoiler

The darkhold being introduced (reintroduced since AOS use to be part of the universe) was good. This is definitely going to be a huge mystical chapter for the MCU with Blade and Fantastic 4 confirmed and characters in WandaVision being connected to them. I did like and roll my eyes at the fact Wanda was told she had the power in her all along. As she is now allowed to be a mutant

"city morgue, you kill em, we chill em"

Re: WandaVision

I liked it. There was a purpose for the sitcom thing and I think that it was warranted.

Not a penny of my money went into making of this show nor will my subscription have anything to do with any Disney production. I am happy for what they gave me.

That was amazing, loved the finale!  Can't wait for the next marvel TV show.

73

Re: WandaVision

Yep 1x09 was finally good.

And this time there were even 2 post credit scenes, which i only noticed because i was doing stuff on my phone while the credits rolled. Marvel is really pulling my finger with that mixing of post credit scenes stuff.

Re: WandaVision

So I really enjoyed this series, as the MCU finally gives us some real depth to its characters as well as empowering the first female Captain Marvel (I've been waiting since that terrible CM movie for Monica to get hers) not to mention giving us two more Young Avengers as well as telling an interesting and timely story.

Even the silly dick joke and the quick escalation of the baddie to potential child murderer didn't bother me all that much especially when you realize they had to close production early due to COVID... even if Kat (Darcy) couldn't make it back to the set for the end.

I honestly would very much like to see more a lot more long-form MCU stories like this rather than as movies!
