Re: The Equalizer (2021) [Drama, Crime, Thriller]
Watched 1x1. Many people have criticized that they've picked Queen Latifah for the lead character, saying that her level of fitness does not fit the role. I agree, but if you can overlook that, the show is "okay" IMHO. Nothing for any Top 10 list, but not crap either.

Is this more like the 80s series or rather the Denzel Washington movies?

I did not watch the former and suggest you don't compare it to the latter. The Equalizer (2014) was on a different level*, this show reminded me more of https://next-episode.net/taken-2017, and both shows share Adam Goldberg in a very similar role. *For everyone reading this: If you liked it, I suggest you also check out https://next-episode.net/treadstone

4.11 out of 5 here at NE (9 ratings) 4.1 out of 10 at IMDB (1858 ratings) 30% at Rotten Tomatoes... Who to believe...

Re: The Equalizer (2021) [Drama, Crime, Thriller]
Now 4.1 out of 5 here at NE (10 ratings) 4.1 out of 10 at IMDB (1858 ratings)
It's funny how divergent ratings here and there are for some shows. Sadly, in recent years, IMDb attracted more 'drama ratings' for some shows (and movies): "Oh no, I'm so upset that XYZ was done in this show, let me rate it 1/10!!" Stupid...

As such shows go this one is competent, fast paced, and entertaining. It held my interest, although I was half-expecting a snooze-fest. With so many scripted shows there are not enough good writers to supply them all.

What, we are body shaming assassins now? Heard "young, black women" in the trailer, pass. Also this has no chance to match this Equalizer, which was great: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0455944/

So far I've watched 3 episodes and although I'm old enough to remember the original series with Mr Woodward I am enjoying this.

same here, the show hasn't disappointed yet. Dare I say this has a 'Person of Interest' vibe to it?

I'm glad but it does surprise me as the ratings haven't been that high. I have just read this too.

Are you seeing what I'm seeing? Doesn't it say "average" instead of "really bad"?

Technically yes, but anything less than about 7.5 is a no for me. I will watch Movies that are very low - but only to see how bad they really are

Ah... Then you will miss the joy of watching https://next-episode.net/lovecraft-country and https://next-episode.net/into-the-night - the only 2 shows I recommend in my forum signature that are below 7.5

I tried Lovecraft Country, it was awful. Didn't like it at all. The premise of Into The Night sounds really bad, I didn't even start that one.

Re: The Equalizer (2021) [Drama, Crime, Thriller]
Just marathoned The Equalizer. 2 Thumbs up. I like it. I don't mind everyone's complaints because I love love love sweet vigilante justice, so this show speaks to my feelies, taking the law into my own hands. Procedurals are predictable and follow a formula which can get boring, but so long as the vigilantism is sweet sweet vengeance on those who deserve it, I'll probably keep watching. ▼Spoiler The first and only thing I keep saying during all the episodes, is how has this not caught up with her? How has someone not found her suburban house and killed her and her family in their sleep by now, when she's so easy to find? Other than the CIA possibly monitoring and protecting her, how has her criminal life not already caught up to her? Wouldn't you have to hide and stay on the move to not get found by so many evil third parties with a vested interest in remaining evil? She's not like Babayaga instilling fear into the hearts of criminals, she has an ad for crying out loud! Huge Plot Hole for me, but whatever, it's fun. My score is a very watchable 7/10. The detective work and stories are richer and fuller than Debris, at least so far.
