Hard to say... it's clearly better than season 4, but I forgot how much exactly I loved the first 3 seasons to compare them with season 5. big_smile

Re: The Expanse

I remember that I did not like to break brain in the Protomolecule maze big_smile But in this season all clear, who blew up who and why, plus Amos adventures were nice.

Btw, just by reading that article above

Spoiler

I realized that in the end it was an "alien attack" on that criminal Martians ship, I assumed they simply entered that ring big_smile

And I cannot treat Admiral Sauveterre seriously since I have seen White Collar big_smile

Re: The Expanse

good not too long to wait.  I think it is the best scifi show active at the moment

181

Re: The Expanse

aah, but it's only going to be 6 episodes.  I will surely miss this show.

Re: The Expanse

Teaser looks good, I hope they bring the show to a good end. smile I was a bit disappointed with how Amazon took over, but then there's this:

https://ew.com/tv/the-expanse-amazon-se … n-shankar/ :

The Expanse showrunner says door is open for more after season 6

"There's definitely more to tell," says Naren Shankar about possible life after Amazon.

I don't think it's likely, but imagine if Apple or Peacock would continue the show. cool

You take that back right this second!

I must disagree with you on this, I found The Expanse to be thoroughly enjoyable. But, hey, to each their own.

For me, I'd say... 7/10.

snoozefest? What ever that is it is not that! The Expanse is atleast interesting detailing the first steps into outer space with the solar system and there are actors and characters who are attractive and interesting. other than that black woman and her antics in her own ship trying to warn  the good guys her ship is booby trapped. I zip through that part

Yep, snoozefest, I stand by that.  Easily one of the dullest shows I watch.  I very, very rarely drop shows, some I just hope get cancelled so I'm forced to stop(!) and The Expanse is one of them.  And don't get me started on their ridiculous psuedo South African accents that appear and disappear as if by magic.  Even thinking about The Expanse makes me want to yawn.

2020.  Meh.

South African accents? You mean the belter accents? It is strange and  interesting how some find shows exciting that others find the opposite. To what extent do you think is down to liking the characters and actors playing them?

The belters, yes.  In the first season some of the English actors has English accents, and then for the second season sounded South African.  And even then the accents slipped alot.  All over the place.  I don't think it's down to the actors or the characters, I just find the whole show a bit meh.  It started off well, I liked it, but then just got slower and more dull.

2020.  Meh.

I've moved the The Expanse discussion into the The Expanse thread. tongue

Re: The Expanse

How can you say the expanse is dull? S2 and S3 must be some of the best TV ever made.

Not saying the series is perfect. It had a slow start, and the last seasons have been medioker... And I guess there are some actors i dont like, like the one playing Naomi Nagata and James Holden. I've never seen a more forced relationship on tv ever...

But the good outweighs the bad.

How can I say it's dull?  Because I think it's dull.  It's my opinion.  I'm sure others here agree but can't be bothered to comment.  Maybe others love it, think it's a fantastic, action-packed, adrenaline fuelled extravaganza, but I don't.

2020.  Meh.

Re: The Expanse

Right... It was more a question for you to elaborate why, not to make the same statement twice. Mostly just to know if I should ever consider your opinion about a show I haven't watched.

Must be more to the dislike than inconsistent belter talk.

Oh....The Expanse. ....heres a little story.. And please bear with me, I might be rambling a bit but keep in mind that Im from Norway and english is not my first language big_smile

When I first met my now married wife for soon to be...umm...MANY years....... I introduced her to Babylon 5 and she LOVED it!!!. I watched B5 as much as I could when it was "aired" (yeah - "aired" its a thing) in Norway the first (and only) time. I then (when modems got good enough connections) downloaded a very low bitrate version of the entire B5 and watched every episode once...in order...then twice and then a third time. Im still rewatching B5. But Im wandering off topic. Now...after getting hooked on B5 and loving the way JMS built up an arc and telling it over several seasons with a definite ending Ive never looked back so to speak. Anthology and movies and series with stories ending with the end of each episode is all fine I guess - but having this story-arc and buildup and not atleast the defined ending BEFORE starting to shoot the first ep has been and is very appealing to me. ....now...ok...back to my current wife (because the first time I watched B5 "aired" I was with my first wife.....which HATED sci-fi - I remember showing her an episode of B5 and she made fun of G'Kars "mask" that he was wearing....and I guess the marriage went sideways after that....) - anyways - after introducing B5 to my current, we watched "Third rock from the sun" together - and its a HILLARIOUS ride...and I then introduced her to BSG which we both LOVED....and then MANY of the "mainstream" shows.... sorry rambling...there IS a point I promise.....

NOW....I had seen trailers for "The Expanse" and it looked VERY promising. So much so that I was counting the days for S01E01....but I decided to let season 1 "go by" so that current wife and I could binge the season when it was ready. And we did .....start.....with s01e01..... Wife fell asleep I guess some 30mins in or something. Now, this COULD be due to her being way more "settled" in our relationship....or it COULD be due to her simply being tired, but it could very well be because it was.....DULL!!!. Because I also was nodding a lot ...not only to s01e01 but also to e02 and e03.....we then decided to lay The Expanse to rest. It was - to us - very dull....

However...months later...years? I see this trailer for The Expanse ...I think s03 or S04 in my youtube-feed and I watch it...and Im thinking..."umm...wait a minute".... I decide to give it another go.....

I watched s01e01..then e02.....3.....4......5-----6-----

and....

OH MY!!! HOLYBALONYGHEEEZUZCHRIST am I in for a lovable treat!!!!

The Expanse is most definately up there alongside B5, BSG and the best of StarTrek - there is NO doubt in my mind but yeah...it takes some investment on "your part"....seeing besides the corny hat....ignoring the dialects-issue etc..
