Topic: Finale (spoiler!!! friendly)

I know it's gone on forever, but I thought someone would have posted about this. I know there must have been pressure to just finish the final 2 episodes in the pandemic, but seriously, that was bad make up. Them both dying and finding peace I actually liked. It was fitting and worked well with wayward son. But just forgetting about all the connections they have made along the way was pretty shitty and not at all in line with the show. "you don't have to be blood to be family". And the show is about family.

What did everyone think? or had you given up a long time ago and just don't care?

Re: Finale (spoiler!!! friendly)

I managed to hold on until season 14, but at the end of 13 I really thought "wth am I watching. How can I criticize soaps and still watch this.". The good/fun episodes were really becoming rare, but maybe/probably that was just me.

Anyway, to each their own, good they rounded it up. Also what does dying mean in Supernatural, really.

Re: Finale (spoiler!!! friendly)

I didn't like the ending at all.  I thought the final episode was totally unnecessary, I thought the one before was a much better way to leave it.

2020.  Meh.

Re: Finale (spoiler!!! friendly)

I agree with both comments above. The funny or quirky episodes became more rare after scoobinatural. It was too focused wrapping it up I think. With no end in sight. I think the second last episode should have been. double episode and they really went for it in terms of scope and scale. It's 15 years and I'm sad that's the ending I'm left with to be honest

Re: Finale (spoiler!!! friendly)

Like I stated in a previous topic, Supernatural ended for me several seasons ago. What has taken place since serves as officially-produced non-canon work for my enjoyment; the humor, action/adventures, flashbacks, monster-of-the-week episodes, and characters. Without the big guy (the original one lol) upstairs providing the plot armor, Sam and Dean were at the mercy of their own actions. Anyone that watched all 15 seasons of the show knew that it was never going to end with rainbows and unicorns; afterlife notwithstanding. Dean was always destined to die during a hunt, and Sam already lived the apple pie life for over a year entering Season 8. What we've witnessed here prolongs that what if scenario from several seasons ago, with a few late stage adjustments. I wouldn't exactly call Dean's death at the hands of some rusty rebar a warriors death, but hey...

It was time for this show to end, and although I hate when showrunners point to the on-going pandemic (mostly) as an excuse to cancel or reasons behind a lackluster ending [1] [2], it's sanely impossible to ignore the gravity of our current global situation. The 326th episode was the better ending for me. However, I did appreciate the cast and crew send-off on the bridge, which is why I'm willing to cut them some slack with the finale. Overall, it's been a helluva ride with The Winchesters & Family. Love you guys!! The end.

Re: Finale (spoiler!!! friendly)

I like both the show this started out as and the one it became in the end. They can probably be considered two separate shows. A lot of the stuff between the them was... not so good.

The finale was, IMO, both despite and even because of the current pandemic a great way to end the ongoing storylines.

The epilogue (because that's really all it is) was not strictly neccessary and probably could have been done better, especially without the pandemic restrictions. Still, it mostly achieved what it seemed to set out to do, so it's fine by me. At least it managed to answer a few more questions.

I actually thought the one before WAS the finale and was ok enough with it not to be angry.

I was quite surprised a week later when it appeared again with a new episode.

It became more about the fun along the way rather than a great finale for me a very long time ago, I just enjoyed the universe.

So did I!  Then when I saw another episode was coming, I thought, ah, must be a special.  If not, where could they take it after this?  They took it to a completely unneccesary  place in my opinion.

If had some great episodes along the 15-year trip, but none of those were during the last few years.  Quite a few years.
