Topic: Knight Rider Movie Is Currently In The Works
Spyglass Media Group has teamed with Atomic Monster’s James Wan and Michael Clear to develop a film based on the 1980s classic action series Knight Rider. TJ Fixman, a former video game writer, is adapting the screenplay. According to Deadline, the new take on Knight Rider will still contain its anti-establishment motifs while also modernizing the franchise for the present-day.
This might be fun! James Wan = Saw, Aquaman, ... More info: https://emptylighthouse.com/knight-ride … -998023297

No, stay away from my childhood. Please don't do this. Let it go...
...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?
Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

Agreed, there is only one Hasselhoff. Leave him alone. The recent reboot was just awful.

Yes, its ratings don't look so hot. I only started this thread because James Wan is involved this time.

Was the original that good, though? I never got that impression. I watched a few episodes of the reboot. It was completely pointless and utterly forgettable, but not strictly bad. Its main problem was that there was never a single good reason to dig up the old show in the first place. Something like this could most likely only ever exist in the 80s, and those are not words I would ever use in a compliment. Good luck to the people involved in this project. It will be needed.

This, the only reason why this worked was that there were only 2 cars with that technology. Now every car has a computer in it. I have turbo boost, my car talks to me, it also has almost the ability to drive it self. In the 80's this was sci fi to a small boy. Nowadays it's like who cares if your car can talk. So there is no novelty in the idea.

Being a young boy in the up in the 80's, I can say that yes, it was a good show, the same way The A Team and Airwolf were good shows. TV has changed profoundly since then, kids expect more, which sadly isn't always a good thing.
2020. Meh.

While I understand what you are saying, KIT was almost sentient, with his own independant intelligence. He was used alot more than to just change radio stations, plan a route, or look up the name of a restaurant. Cars can't drive themselves to anywhere near the level KIT could, that is still pure sci-fi. I know they are making progress in some areas, but come on, you can't compare KIT to a Google car. As for turbo boost, I'm sure you've never used your turbo to jump over a cliff edge and save the day again!
2020. Meh.

Yeah... I recently read a post somewhere where someone said that "music is highly contextual" and that you can't recreate a party (and its mood) from 'back then' even if you play exactly the same music. Same with TV shows and movies IMHO... they (mostly) work best when consumed fresh, not 10 or 20 years later. So they'll have to come up with some fresh ideas for the new Knight Rider movie, which I hope will be good ideas. graybags wrote:While I understand what you are saying, KIT was almost sentient, with his own independant intelligence. They tried with MacGuyver and it was awful.

No reboots, no remakes.
